Hands down best donut spot in the area. I feel like it's a hidden gem because of its unassuming front. But do not let the outside deceive you because the inside is filled with fresh baked donuts and they're so delicious. My partner judges donut places by the quality of their plain donuts, and this place did not disappoint. I would say our favorite donuts are the cake donuts of any kind and their glazed donuts. Everything just was very flavorful and delicious. And you cannot beat the price here. The best hole-in-the-wall donut shop in town! Haha.. get it? ;-) I have been coming here since my toddler days! 22 years later and I still stop in when I am within the vicinity. Since I first started coming here, the original owners have retired but passed the business to someone else in the family and have kept the amazing recipes. I am SO glad nothing has changed! The service is always so genuine, wholesome and leaves me feeling so happy. Plus, it is Asian-owned and I love supporting my Asian community. You can also sit inside which is what I always did/do with my mom and Grandma. There is one "donut" chair that has been there forever and I always sit in it. To be honest, I actualy am not a big donut person but I absolutely LOVE Lucky Donuts! They are the most light and fluffy donuts I have ever had and nothing I have tried compares. The perfect amount of sweetness, not greasy, and just perfect in every way. If you stop in, you NEED to try their maple bars! I took all they had left today because they are just that good. Great place. Was debating if I wanted to take a ten minute drive out for some donuts or go to Safeway for theirs and I'm glad I made the decision to go. I'm not sure who the owners are but the workers were these older Asian man and woman. They were nothing but friendly with their service. I had a maple bar, Apple fritter, and a sugar covered donut. After watching "The Donut King" documentary, I totally got in the mood for donuts, LOL! There are not many options near my home, but I did find Lucky Donuts, an old fashioned mom and pop shop in Burien. They are located in a strip mall complex and easy to find. Look for the large street sign. There is a parking lot with plenty of spaces. Lucky Donuts has a huge selection, but they are mostly traditional flavors, not super trendy stuff. I quickly chose six donuts and everything was fresh and tasted good. I especially liked the "cinnamon roll" one and the maple bar. I definitely recommend coming here as early as you can to ensure the freshest donuts and best selection. They do close early if they run out of donuts. I thought the owners were really nice and I would definitely come here again. The prices are very reasonable. read more

I came in the day after Thanksgiving because I needed to get out of the house. I'm really glad I gave this place a chance. Looks like an ol' ma and pa type of spot. The couple that served me and rang me up were very nice and easy going. I decided to sit in and eat a few donuts while my coffee was hot. First impression: YUM! Maple bars are my go-to donut as well as glazed. These doughy treats were fluffy and soft like a fresh donut should be. I also got a chocolate bar, an apple fritter, and a cinnamon roll for later. Can't wait to chow down on these morsels later. Among the ones that I picked, they also had some old fashioned, sprinkled, and muffins. I will have to try those next time. Lucky Donuts, you went to hell! I totally understand times are hard for most all independent businesses. Double your price of each donut or up them a dollar each but don't go half a** on ingredients. Hardly no custard in your custard filled donuts anymore. Sad! Your maple bars have the thinnest swipe of maple across the top. We love the old Lucky Donuts. What happened? Go back to actually filling your donuts full of custard, up the price by 50 cents 75 cents or just up your prices altogether but don't think for one second you're foolin anyone. For now I'll drive the extra few miles to CHUCK'S DONUTS in Renton and will highly recommend Chuck's to everyone I know until you at Lucky can get it together. I always tip an extra $5 $10 every time all depending on how many donuts I buy. I think Lucky Donuts changed owners over the past couple years and the last owner who ran the place always was real friendly anytime I'd stop in which was fairly often. I hate to possibly leave an old favorite donut shop behind but may have no choice. I completely love to support independent small ran businesses. This review is intended to hopefully be of help to this business to change for the better. I don't care, charge $5 a donut if you have to because all these rich people around this area and all the good paying jobs these people have can afford to pay $5 a donut. These same people buying your donuts are the same people who likely spend $7 a day on Starbucks coffee $7 even more if they tip but I know many don't tip. Whatever you do, this cutting your ingredients cheap only makes your donuts suffer and loyal customers not return. Bring back the quality of one of my favorite donuts back! Those of you reading this, look up Chuck's Donuts in Renton which has always been my go to if I want just extra special donuts. Lucky's is just more convenient so has been my go to choice but not so sure anymore. Maple bars at Chuck's Donuts are out of this world good with tons of real almost like a frosting on a cake maple icing. The custard stuffed chocolate feet and raspberry feet are amazing as well. Charge $60 a dozen by all means if that what it will take to bring back the quality I remember of past lucky donuts. People can definitely afford $5 a donut plus tip, otherwise maybe they shouldn't be eating donuts if they're that broke and cheap. Lucky is a very good traditional donut house. It's even located in an old Winchell's. A good variety of the staples. Plus they have the sometimes hard to find buttermilk bars. No hipster donuts here. Of the three times I've driven all the way here because of my uncontrollable donut craving, they've ALWAYS been closed. I'm done wasting my time and gas.
