I'm not huge on sweets, but Legendary seems to be a solid doughnut shop. I ended up here because I heard about the apple pie doughsant and it sounded intriguing. I arrived semi-early Monday morning and there was minimal wait. The employee was friendly and competent and she had me on my way in no time flat. The doughsant was quite good. Flakey like a croissant, soft like a standard doughnut. Nice flavours of spice that complimented everything nicely. My only regret is eating the whole thing in one sitting - my body was not prepared for that much sugar!! Overall really great shop! It's not often that I am blown away by a donut shop, but this place did the trick. I stopped in on a Sunday morning and there were a couple of folks ahead of me in line. I'm glad I had a few minutes to take a look over the numerous display case is full of incredible pastries. Located in Covington right off 172nd, there was adequate parking in the parking lot.. The counterperson warmly greeted me when I walked in and answered a few questions. I ended up getting six donuts and all were incredible. I had the Bavarian cream doughnut, chocolate, cream, pillow, Conan, the barbarian, an apple fritter, and a crème brûlée. For an added nice touch, they torch the sugar on top of the crème brûlée option, and it was delicious. The portion sizes were huge and everything was fresh and delicious. I wanted to order custom letter doughnuts for my sister as a surprise after she got engaged. I contacted Legendary Doughnuts through their website and got in touch with Taylre right away. Correspondence was quick and easy. After a few emails, I decided on doughnuts that spelled out ENGAGED (white, vanilla frosting with gold sugar sprinkles) and two hearts (white, vanilla frosting with pink sugar sprinkles) with a Sunday pickup at 8AM. Taylre had my order placed with the Covington location right away and let me know the Covington Team would be in touch. I was expecting for a call or email from the Covington location to confirm my order and possibly get payment information down. When I hadn't heard anything the morning before my requested pick up time, I just called the location myself. The gal on the phone was so sweet! Mini freak-out averted :) When I went to pick up my order on Sunday with my husband, we also decided to pick up some extra doughnuts for ourselves. He got an old fashioned and two maple bacon doughnut balls. I got two jelly filled doughnut balls. I personally think the doughnut balls are the perfect size for me considering Legendary Doughnuts are of course - legendary and large. Of course, the gal who helped us was super friendly! They serve espresso, lattes in case you can't get enough calories from the donuts. Seating inside is nice. My favorites are surprisingly the cinnamon roll and the cannoli. The cashier/barista offered to top the cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting and raspberry jam, what a brilliant idea! For the cannoli, I got the chocolate dipped shell with crushed almond. I love the ricotta cheese filling, very fresh and delicious. I have been searching in vain for a decent bakery - one that features a variety of pastries. Seems like nowadays every place specializes - cakes, breads, sweets, etc. The old fashioned bakery that features a broad variety of baked goods have just disappeared. Legendary Donuts has a limited variety of pastries available and once their inventory is sold out - they're out; so, it's a bit of a gamble to find what you're looking for. Probably best to call ahead. We bought some glazed donut holes and some "Oprah" Maple Bars, and some "Snickers" and Chocolate Bars. There wasn't much of a selection beyond these and to my palate, these items may have been there a day or two. But at least there is a bakery nearby where I can get a donut when I want one! read more

Cutely decorated doughnuts, but are wayyyy too sugary. Visited on a Friday and since football season is back, Blue Friday doughnuts are available at Legendary Doughnuts on Fridays. Theyre a bit bigger than the size of your hand/palm and pack a ton of sugar. They dont glaze just a bare one layer of chocolate or maple, but a thick double layer so you get more out of your buck. read more

This location in particular is iffy at best. If you order them custom, then they are good, but sometimes if you just buy them out of the case, they are not the greatest. This depends in a lot of factors, I know, like time of day, humidity, etc. For my money, eh, I wouldn't go back. The real issue though is with the spotty service. It should feel like you matter when you go in to an establishment to buy something but the majority of the time, it feels like I am imposing on the employees when I go to order my doughnuts. Moreover, they don't seem happy to see me. It is the opposite of the way I want to feel when go to by to buy something fun like doughnuts. Maybe I have just caught them on a bad day, say, the past 3 visits or so, but I decided that if I am going to get something sugary, there are better places around to spend my money. If you've never been to Legendary Doughnuts, you're missing out. All of their doughnuts are oversized creations that will make your mouth water. Turn a blind eye if you're counting calories or watching your sugar!! Their doughnut names are pretty unique and funny. For example a giant glazed doughnut is appropriately named the "Homer Simpson!" Cake doughnuts are usually not my favorite as I find them typically dry and dense...but not here!! Legendary does not skimp on their frosting or toppings and the cake doughnuts are really moist. Don't forget to try the Oprah Doughsant. It's their take on a maple bacon cronut, and it's delicious! So many fun and unique flavors that you can't find anywhere else! The doughnuts here are huge, like 2x the size of a regular doughnut so naturally there's more sugar. It doesn't bother me personally. They also do a thicker coat of icing I feel like so if you're calorie counting don't come here. But once in a while won't hurt. I love the brownies with Bailey's cream so much. It's super moist on the inside. Definitely a must try. They also do brownie bites too if you don't want to commit to a big piece. Price range between $3-4 I believe but it's a bang for your bucks. The ones with fillings have a lot to it. And you can easily share 1 doughnut (if you can resist from eating it all!) Easy parking in the plaza, clean place, & restroom for customer.
