I decided to try again with ordering special occasion Donuts for a Birthday surprise. First of all I paid 25.00 for them, and I feel like I was ignored on what I wanted. I consider this place to be such a treat and a true gem. The only reason I took it down a star is because I think it's overly priced for donuts however I can understand and appreciate the work that probably goes into making each and everyone of these specialty donuts. They had a wonderful selection, wide range of flavors, fun and inviting donuts for children, and I love that they also make dog treats as well. I called in to place an order. I confirmed that what I was wanting to purchase was available after speaking to the staff member to be told it would be ready for pickup in 5 minutes. I say great, I'll submit my order via door dash and get told oh, we can't do that via door dash, you have to get it yourself. What? You're seriously unwilling to place the 4 donuts that you just confirmed are there in a box based on the pickup method? I'm not willing to pay over $20 for four donuts I may or may not like. I don't follow how it makes sense as a business model to not accommodate a simple request as a matter of "policy". OMG Becky...look at my butt. It is so big. It looks like I've been eating one too many of those Legendary Doughnuts...But it's so worth it!!! Okay, so the first time I ever had Legendary Doughnuts was when they were giving away complimentary doughnuts outside of Pearl Bar after the Seahawks Weekly event. I stepped outside and there were two representatives, just handing out boxes of doughnuts for all those who attended the event. No way! Not only did I get to see and MEET Jermaine Kearse but I took home a box of three doughnuts, which were all fantastic! I think I even said to the woman who handed me a box, "Is this a trick?" It was too good to be true. So when I found out that there was a Legendary Doughnuts in Covington I knew I had to stop by because there is no location nearby to where I live. I step inside and am greeted by a friendly employee and the scent of baked goodness. You just know that every bakery should smell like this. And in the display case was an assortment of doughnuts that went beyond what I could've ever dreamed of. Sure they have the classics, like a maple bar and a glaze, and an old-fashioned, which they label these doughnuts as "amateur" but your more spontaneous bad self wants you to get the ones that are labeled "legendary." Furthermore I could not for the life of me make up my mind for which to get because they fo' real all looked mouth-watering delicious. And I was for sure as hell not getting a dozen because I just knew that my fat ass did not need to eat 12. And I would not share. After asking for recommendations from the employee, who was as sweet as could be since she was incredibly patient with me, I decided on the Twix Doughnut. Twix is my favorite candy, so when I saw how massive the doughnut was I figured that was the one for me. And I just loved their take on the candy bar - it was a rectangular doughnut covered in chocolate with shortbread crumbs dusted on it and a caramel icing drizzled on top. What's not to love? I only meant to eat a little of it before hitting the road but I could not help myself and the first bite ended up being two more and then three more and then a group of people came, which made me finally resist the urge to take another gulp of my Twix Doughnut because I was legit not even sitting down, eating this thang. I was standing over my doughnut by the window, too excited to taste it that I forgot to sit down. True life. Fortunately, driving to my next meeting prevented me from eating the whole doughnut because the size was gigantic. So much so that it took me two days to eat, and the day after was just as delightful. Reallllllly glad this is not in Bellevue or in Seattle because even Sir-Mix-a-Lot would reject my fat ass. These doughnuts are so creative, gluttonous and heavenly!!! To be honest, which I'm sure will sound like a joke to you all, dear readers, I am more of a baked doughnut fan versus the fried dough; but this place makes me think otherwise. Plus, I loved how they had dog treats, shaped like a doughnut. (Duh.) I shall be back, maybe to get that dozen. Or try the Doughsant, the croissant-doughtnut hybrid. I loved bringing my kids here for a quick breakfast treat. They do not have a huge selection that would overwhelm you (or an indecisive child). They had just the right amount of delicious options. Their doughnuts were on the bigger side. So you really get what you pay for here. I would normally get my little ones two doughnuts each, but not here! One was good enough for little tummies! Even my (what I think were) doughnut holes were more like mini doughnuts. I really loved the sizes and two alone were very filling. Unfortunately, I didn't pay too much attention to the menu. I walked in thinking it was just like any other normal doughnut shop, but while enjoyed our sweets in their comfortable sized dining area, I quickly learned that this place had quiet the reputation. So I feel very lucky that we happened upon this sweet treasure! The service was great! I came in with a rather big party, consisting of a lot of little ones. The lady who helped us was very kind and patient and didn't mind taking a few extra minutes for the kiddos to look and decide what they wanted. We were served the doughnuts in small baskets which I thought was a nice touch. The dining area was clean and had about four mini tables and then there was bar seating around the front windows and side walls. So plenty of space. The amateur donuts are the cheapest - your basic glazed/cake donuts. The next step up are the famous donuts, which include cereal toppings and additional glazes. But most importantly are the legendary donuts (duh). These include PB&J filled donuts, maple bacon toppings, doughsants (aka cronuts aka croissant/donuts)...you name it! My bf & I ordered four: the Oprah doughsant (maple frosting w/bacon crumbles), pina colada (pineapple frosted doughsant w/coconut), white choco raspberry and blueberry cheesecake. All of the donuts were delicious - soft and fluffy on the inside and generously frosted.
