Today, we hired Ben and Chen to help us move, and the whole process was incredibly efficient! They were not only professional and diligent but also very friendly and approachable. They even packed items we weren't sure how to handle or hadn't gotten around to organizing--everything was done with great care! TL;DR - affordable, would recommend, but wouldn't say highest quality or care I contacted 25 moving companies for a move from Mountain View to Palo Alto. Formosa Mover had competitive pricing and only required a two hour minimum vs the typical three hour minimum. I paid $110/hour for two people and $40 for the truck/gas. The entire move took 2.5 hours and cost $315 (110+110+55+40). I also tipped $40. All in, I spent $355, which was very affordable when considering some of the other highly rated companies. I had moved all small items myself (my entire closet, kitchen, artwork, etc) and only needed my large items relocated. I moved from a one bedroom, upstairs apartment to a two story house. I had my kitchen table and chairs, couch and end tables, patio furniture, bed, desk and chair, two mirrors, a bike, and a couple of crates to move. Big ticket items. Some of the things I did like: They showed up about 25 minutes later than planned due to traffic but were prompt to inform me. They were quick and efficient and didn't dilly dally between locations. For the most part (not always, but mostly), they used carpets/foot covers so they weren't stepping on my floor. They wrapped most of my items and used blankets to protect my couch. Some of the things I didn't love: I have an incredibly large white rug. It's pure white and was in perfect condition. To save time, only one person moved the rug, but because it's so large, it was dragged along the ground (photo included). While moving items upstairs, they knocked a framed photo and damaged the wooden frame. They also made minimal scuffs on various walls. I had to take apart my bedframe myself and put it back together, which is a service many of the other companies provide, but was not provided/offered. After they'd finished, I spoke with them and expressed my dissatisfaction with the damaged frame and the dirty rug. For the frame, they asked if I had a sharpie and then asked if I lived with family or rented, and said if the person had an issue with the damage, to contact the company. For the rug, they asked if I had anything available to clean it. Not sure if they intended to try to clean it then and there with my products. Regardless, neither of these solutions felt professional. I'm not sure if I would've been happier with a discounted service, because I'd still have a damaged frame and a dirty rug, but there wasn't even an apology. They did the work, they put in the time, and I'm glad to be moved. However, I'm fairly certain it would've been a much longer (and much more costly) move, had I not moved the bulk of items / smaller items myself. read more

First time using Formosa mover. Referred by a friend, and really happy that I had them there with me on the moving day! I was packing all by myself the night before and by the time they arrived, I was already exhausted. But when they started moving, I was amazed how fast and organized they are. They have this red running rug thing that covers all their walk ways. Which will protect the floor and carpet in each room and hall way. This definitely gave me a peace of mind, cus my biggest concern was my new home carpet. Then I literally just stood/sit around the entire time. No need to lay my finger on any thing. I was also super impressed that they were able to dis/reassemble my son's Ikea bunk bed; we bought it cheap but boy the assembly was a nightmare when my husband and I first put it together (you get what you paid for...). This is a small family owneed business so response was really quick. Quote was transparent, quick, and price was great. I called around asking five moving companies in the area and this one gave me the best quote. They arrived a few minutes before scheduled time just to go over what we want to move, and helped wrap everything nicely. Not a single scratch. Super efficient too. Great experience with this moving company! After talking to a few moving companies, we decided to go with Formosa because they provided the best customers service. First, they sent a representative to the house to make sure all our belongings will fit into their huge moving van in one load. Then they getting back to us with a reasonable proposal. After that, we pick a date and is all set to go. On the moving day, the van arrives promptly and the movers work very hard to fit all our belonging into the van. They carefully secure and wrap all our valuables and furniture in blankets and plastic and handle everything with care. It amazes me that not one item breaks with this move and we have over 200 boxes and tons of furnitures and antique pieces. Retain pieces of furniture need to take it apart for loading and they put it back up for us when arrives, it's a lot of work and the movers are so patient and skillful putting every single piece back together!
