Staff was super friendly. I was greeted when I walked in, didn't feel rushed, the food/coffee came out quickly. I ordered the pistachio mocha with their homemade cashew milk. Super rich. I also got the egg & toast. It was a buttered piece of sourdough bread with a soft boiled egg on top. That's all I need - simple and good - lots of fresh cracked pepper on it. I thought this place was super cute!

    All-day breakfast burrito

Coffee tasted great and would recommend, however I would not suggest some hot foods. The burrito I got was deceiving compared to their photos. They microwave a pre-made burrito as well as their bacon.

    Avacado toast with coffee

I really liked the small size of coffee which is apt for the price (no point of paying 3 more bucks and wasting that half cup of coffee). I got a cappuccino and avacado toast. Avacado toast- sourdough bread was good but only part was it was TOO much salted. On the website they say they use black Hawaiian Lava salt, which is great but too much can't be handled. Assuming their toast have good reviews maybe it was one time only. Reducing one star for taste but overall good place. Wi-Fi availability and cool vibes.

Coffee flight: house drip, piccolo (small latte), espresso

When a coffee shop has a coffee flight, that is usually a good sign. Form & Function did not disappoint! Very good coffee if you are just wanting good espresso and a great spot to rest and hang for awhile with a super nice upstairs loft area. I'm assuming their other drinks are good as well! The flight came with espresso, piccolo (small latte), and house drip. The espresso was pulled really well and had great flavor. We also ordered a breakfast burrito, which was really tasty (just a little too much tortilla in some places). Would absolutely go again and absolutely recommend.

Great service. Delicious coffee & treats. Sat upstairs with my besties. 5 star experience!

tldr; Decent coffee. This shop is down the street from my place in Boise. It has a small coffee shop vibe, and serves passable cappuccinos and other espresso drinks. The pastries are hit or miss, and are sometimes on the verge of stale. As a regular pastry lover - the inconsistency is a bit too much for my preferences. Although the pastries are likely delivered daily - there may be a problem with their storage or transportation that is contributing to gaps in freshness. Pastries are served on wood boards that are not large enough to hold the pastry. In general - the service feels distant and unwelcoming. Staff on busy and slow days appear uninterested in customer engagement, or timeliness of orders. Drinks are left on the counter and announced by the drink name only (e.g., "Cappuccino!"). This leads to confusion during busy times - when multiple customers are waiting for the same drink - staff appears uninterested in resolving the confusion. On one occasion - while waiting to order - I observed staff use the same shaker to prepare a regular milk and oat milk drink without rinsing the shaker. The staff may require additional food safety training. Overall - not a bad place for a cup of coffee, but worth passing if you're in search of a warmer atmosphere or quality pastries.

Avocado toast and reverie coffee (special )

My coffee was great! The avocado toast was honestly terrible, way too salty. I ended up just taking everything off to eat the toast. I've never had an avocado toast I didn't like until now. Definitely disappointed as it was 2.5$ to add an egg.

Great little cozy cafe! The breakfast menu has some good variety and tastes super fresh. The staff are helpful & friendly. The coffee & cider were a perfect way to get our day started. Definitely recommend!

What a delightful coffee shop! Stopped by Form & Function for the first time recently and I'm so glad I did! Form & Function offers a crisp, clean space with delicious coffee and delectable bites to boot. For my first visit, I ordered one of their seasonal lattes, which, with the season being Autumn, was a spice filled delight. The espresso is rich and smooth and they offer milk alternatives, so I was happy to have my latte made with almond milk. For a bite, I ordered their avocado toast which ranks as one of the best avocado toasts I've had anywhere--sliced fresh avocado, a beautiful sprinkling of black Hawaiian salt and seed blend, and a squeeze of lemon all over a slice of acme sourdough--seriously, does it get much better? It does. Because, they also offer the option of getting a soft boiled egg added to the mix. Yes, please and thank you. It was truly wonderful. The service was top notch, the prices are reasonable. They're a small shop but do have seating and while it does get busy, my dining companion and I were able to snag a table to leisure over our coffee. If you can get a table, it would be a decent enough spot to work from. Get to it!

I'm a stickler for good coffee and found this place via the source app which identifies craft coffee shops, download it if you're a snob like me. This place has solid, robust coffee, nice lighting and very friendly baristas. This is the premier coffee destination in Boise. Will be my third place.

    Large table for groups upstairs!

This is a great spot for our mentoring group with a large table upstairs where it's quiet! The most recent time I visited I got a dirty chai and the avocado toast! Both were amazing! Surprisingly the BEST avocado toast I've ever had with a lemon zest to it! The service comes with a small and the drinks are presented like an art piece; however they do take quite a while to make. Well worth the wait but don't be in a rush or you may not appreciate how good the drinks are.

The food is incredibly well seasoned and thoughtfully prepared, and I love that many of the dishes are uniquely served on cast iron plates -- it adds both character and keeps everything hot from first bite to last. The portions are no joke either. We ordered the Big Boy Omelette with their house potatoes and a BLT with fries, and both were outstanding. Everything was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and plated in a way that made it feel like more than just your average breakfast. At one point, I had to stop and ask another patron what they ordered because it completely filled their plate. It was the chicken-fried steak, and they told me it was cooked perfectly. I can eat -- but there is no way I could finish that chicken-fried steak by myself! The service was just as impressive as the food. Our server, Audrey, was on another level of fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, efficient, and genuinely made the experience better. Be prepared to wait -- it gets busy for a reason. We had a different server than our usual this time and she was fantastic. I wish I remembered her name to give her a shout out. Now, if you've read my previous review, youd know how much i absolutely LOVE their pancakes - and I've made it my go-to spot for breakfast because of it. Well, either they changed the recipe or someone messed up this batch. It was nice and fluffy, but bland. That signature deliciously buttery flavor was nowhere to be found. I kept taking bites hoping my tongue was deceiving me... but there were no lies. Just disappointment. This is definitely a deal breaker. Maybe I'll try one more time. But lucky for me, my husband and I were in the area so of course we had to make our way in for brunch. We showed up 45 minutes til close. There was about a 25 to 30 minute wait. We decided to tough it out and kick it. I did ask if we would still get served since we will be sat towards closing. They said yes so we waited. There would be a wait anywhere else so why leave. I just found it so kind that they would be willing to still take us with the restaurant closing soon. It was busy which makes me so happy. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing a local business thrive. While hanging out, I was admiring the fun antiques that were decorated all over the restaurant. Talk about history and charm to this joint. Vintage cans, old cooking utensils, old school packages of Spam. There's so much history in this little venue. It's truly incredible to look at and appreciate. We were finally sat 20 minutes til closing. We got some coffee and apple juice started while we checked out the menu. After drinks were dropped off, we quickly ordered our food. My husband got chicken fried steak and I got the works omelet without the sausage. I believe they replaced it with extra ham. Food came out rather fast since we were the tail end of the day. And boy did everything look so good! My omelet looked massive. I was starving so I was so happy that it was big! The omelet was stuffed with green peppers, onions, ham, bacon and cheese. I also got a hearty side of hashbrowns. My husband got his country gravy that came with his country fried steak on the side for me. I was able to add it to my hashbrowns and omelet. Country gravy and hashbrowns is a top tier combination. And today's gravy and potatoes was money! My omelet was perfection. The onions and green peppers were nicely sautéed. There was a great amount of ham and bacon. The eggs were nicely cooked! Cheese that was in the middle was nice and melty. I ate the whole thing! Did I regret it later, yes but it was worth it! I finished half of my hashbrowns. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, these hashbrowns were fantastic! And the country gravy made them that much tastier. My husband enjoyed his breakfast. I most definitely enjoyed mine. Service was fabulous. Coffee was hot and always filled. Today's visit was truly fantastic. I heard that this joint is moving to Orchard. I look forward to coming and checking out the new venue. I know I won't be waiting another 20 years to come back. The food and the service was too good not to come back soon. I look forward to another omelet and one of their huge ass cinnamon rolls!
