My husband and I took my visiting family here and we were not disappointed! My husband and I actually tried Tupelo Honey the previous weekend, and I gotta say, we both prefer Fork by a mile. Everything we ordered had good portions and had great, balanced flavors. We ordered the following: - Hearty Biscuits & Gravy: House-made buttermilk biscuit topped with Porterhouse country style sausage with rich gravy and two local eggs your way. This is what I ordered and it was so good! The biscuits had a crispy texture outside, but tender and moist inside. I appreciated that they had one that was smothered with the sausage gravy, and one that didn't have sauce so you can have both a "dry" and smothered biscuit. The sausage gravy punches you in the face with flavor, and the sage in it is a nice touch. They also have a gluten-free version of this, if you prefer. - Huevos Rancheros: Crispy Boise Fresca corn tortillas, braised carnitas, black beans, Ballard cheddar, Chef's red chili sauce, two local over-easy eggs with cilantro, cotija & pickled red onions. Both my husband and my bro-in-law could not stop talking about how good this was! - Fried Chicken & Ballard Cheddar Waffle 'Sliders': Orange-local Ahaus honey butter & summer seasonal wild berry-maple syrup. My sister really loved this. She doesn't even like syrup, but she said the syrup really brings everything together in this dish. - Rosemary-Parmesan Idaho French Fries: Probably one of the best fries I've ever had. The touch of rosemary really brings the right amount of uniqueness to these fries, and the flavor was not overwhelming at all. Paired really nicely with the parmesan, and the fries themselves were the perfect texture balance of crispy outside and tender inside. Would definitely order again this in all our future visits. - Fork's Signature Warm Butter Cake: Their age ol' recipe topped with local Cloverleaf vanilla ice cream, fresh fruit & Oregon berry coulis. This would have been too sweet without the fresh fruit and the berry coulis, so that was good for them to add those. Definitely good for sharing. A big factor to how great our experience was was how awesome our server was, Nicole. She was patient, kind, and very accommodating! We never felt forgotten at any point. My friends and I were looking for a nice restaurant in the area and were so glad we found Fork. We started with their Asparagus Fries because we saw so many other tables order it. We were so glad we did because they were really generous with the portion size and all of them were perfectly crispy. I also tried their Short Rib (the portion was huge!) and tried some of my friends' mash potatoes. All the dishes were really solid. We really wanted to try their Butter Cake but we were so stuffed that we unfortunately didn't save room. We'll have to get it next time! read more

Farm to fork without breaking the bank. Such an amazing menu and great execution. Ended up getting the Brussel sprouts, Korean chicken sandwich, and a burger. I loved the Brussel sprouts but be weary if you don't like a lot of sauce, the flavor however was amazing. It was an Asian style sauce which blew me away, super rich and flavorful but not over done. The chicken sandwich was out of this world, the chicken was nice and dark, the Cole slaw was delicious and fresh, and the bread was nice and soft. The burger had an amazing aoli that was light but flavorful and the meat was great. The rosemary Parmesan fries were a little light on the rosemary but still delicious. I wish they had been cooked a little bit more crispy but that's just my preference. Overall such a great meal and for a good price. Side note, one of my favorite parts of the restaurant was their sign in the front where they had a list of all the farms where the ingredients were sourced from. Had dinner here with co workers while we were in town. Place was pretty busy! Drinks were delish and our server was great! The food options seemed a little limited as we wanted to have more small bites and appetizers with our meals but they did not have much. I ordered the sea bass which servings were plentiful! It was good but I wasn't really wowed. I think it had a little bit too much of the mandarins or more sweetness in the flavoring? Not sure. Overall we had a good, yummy dinner at Fork although there was a small drama. We ordered the fried asparagus, fried chicken sammy and a slowed cooked brisket sammy. The asparagus fries tasted pretty good - chubby asparagus that was crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. We loved the crispy fluffy bread in both sandwiches and the fries. The slow cooked brisket sammy was very flavorful - highly recommend it. The fried chicken sammy came with raw meat inside. We were so lucky that we cut it into halves first and found the issue. We reported it to the server and got an apology & a free replacement of the entire dish from the kitchen very quickly. The small drama definitely made us disappointed a bit. We tried the replaced sammy immediately - The chicken itself tasted okay - hot and a bit too salty - a heavy tasted sandwich for sure. The chips on side lacked flavor. Stopped by for lunch on the way back from Yellowstone and the food was great! We wanted to try the Idaho Rainbow Trout and were not disappointed. The fish was very well cooked and the asparagus and balsamic vinegar provided complimentary flavors. Also ordered some rosemary parmesan fries which were phenomenal. They were incredibly crispy and fresh, it's been a few days since I've been and I'm still thinking about them. For dessert we got the butter cake with vanilla ice cream and WOW it was so good. I wish they had huckleberry ice cream but they were unfortunately out that day. The butter cake is very heavy so I suggest you share it with another person if you all got your own entrees. We came on a weekday for lunch so it wasn't too crowded but I can imagine they are popular for dinner and weekends. Thankfully they do have reservations available on OpenTable so take advantage of that if you plan to come here. If I am ever in Boise again I will definitely stop by again! read more

Fork is a great place for dinner in Boise ID. I ordered take out to enjoy in my airBNB. I ordered the surf n turf with steak and scallops, cheeseburger and a plate of taco sliders to share. The food was delicious, wished for more Scallops! The pork tacos lacked some taste and the salsa on the side helped. I think some spiciness to the pork tacos would go a long way. I waited about a min to get help from the person manning the front desk. I asked her if utensils were included and she said yes. When I got back to the airBNB there was no utensils. Luckily the host had a kitchenette and I had everything I needed. I specifically asked for utensils on the to go order too. Would be nice if the restaurant paid attention to small details. read more

I loved Fork! We went here for a late dinner on a Sunday and there was an hour wait time. We were seated at the bar, which I honestly enjoyed. We experienced an attentive server/bartender, who checked in on us often (but not too much) and was very personable. We got the asparagus fries, cocktails, urban burger, a fish dish (sorry - I can't recall the exact name), and the butter cake! Everything was PHENOMENAL and we enjoyed it all! Regardless of what entree you get, I would 10/10 recommend getting the butter cake -- it was so moist and delicious! If you're new here, or been here for a bit but haven't tried Fork, I would definitely recommend it! Just be forewarned that the wait times can be bad on weekends! read more

Glad to update my review of Fork in Boise, after a good recent experience. They really upgraded their service experience with terrific and friendly waitstaff, orders coming out with good timing and enjoyable food, particularly the desserts. We asked local family to pick their favorite spot in town for outdoor dining, and they did not hesitate to pick Fork, which they described as one of an handful of nicest places to dine outdoors in Boise. We started with fried asparagus, with ranch that a family member was eyeing. Asparagus was essentially tempura-ed. We ordered tacos off the appetizer menu, as an entree. One in our party ordered the local ruby red Idaho trout with farro and vegetable succotash, which was colorful and the fish, fresh. (Not sure about the use of mandarin oranges in this dish, but do enjoy fruit in a savory dish, particularly if not canned.) One got the filling and stick to your bones smoked brisket mac and cheese topped with roasted, smoked peanuts, and another got the smoked brisket sandwich with coleslaw. The best part of Fork dining, besides the nice outdoor downtown setting, and the trout which was local, delicious and fresh, were our desserts. Strong recommend on the butter cake with fresh fruit. Pro-tip: You can make reservations on Open Table. You can substitute the ice creams on the dessert from vanilla to other flavors on their menu. Highlights: The BCS (Boise Chopped Salad) is seriously one of the best salads I've ever had, but overall I enjoyed everything I had. The rainbow trout was really flavorful and tender. I was alarmed at how enormous the dessert portions were, but our server let us substitute huckleberry ice cream on the butter cake and cowboy crunch on the salted caramel bread pudding and they were decadent, but delicious. Meh. Got the rainbow trout. Nothing to Wright home about. The trout was NOT seasoned. The faro was crunchy and for some reason had big chunks of oranges in it. None of it had any flavor even with the oranges. Not a fan. Would definitely order something else. I got my food to go, the website made you schedule a pick up time. I said 8 pm Received a text that it was ready at 7:45 which meant I was 15 mins late picking it up. When I got there took another 5 to finally get my food so needless to say it was lukewarm. However, if you have more than 4 people you'll get put in the adjoining room that has spotlights shining down on you like you're on stage...lame. And it was cold. The shrimp and grits was amazing (knowing this because we lived in GA for a few years and have some real Southern food to compare it to). The tomato basil fondue with a rustic grilled cheese bread appetizer was excellent, as was the butter cake dessert. The middle courses were not quite as good. We got some extra bread for the fondue and it was terrible. Instead of toasting the bread, it had black, bitter soot on it that was inedible. My pork shank was over cooked and a little mushy, and it was very salty. The risotto and broccoli rab were fine. My wife's sandwich was very good, but the coating on the fries was too strong, and not to our liking. Simple fries that taste like potatoes would be a nice option. We were passing through Boise on a chilly winter day. This place got great reviews and we wanted to check it out. We are happy to report it lived up to the hype! It was quite busy for lunch but after a short wait we were given a nice table. Our waitress was prompt and offered sone good suggestions. We shared the BCS salad which was outstanding. Based up on reviews, this is the best place in Boise for a restaurant. Unfortunately, I do not fully agree. It is good, but I feel it is more hyped. Food - We had asparagus fries - we were pretty disappointed in this dish... The presentation was awesome, but it really lacked flavor and would have almost preferred just roasted asparagus with the same flavor. We also had seared lamb lollipops - these were my favorite of what we ordered. perfectly cooked and the presentation was beautiful. I do wish there was more garnish on it since it did add some great flavor, just not enough on there in my opinion. The prime rib was good, but the flavor just like the asparagus was lacking flavor. It was definitely cooked well and the seasoning on the outside was good, but for $38 and this restaurant being the #1 restaurant in all of Boise, I was expecting more from a flavor profile. Service - service was also lacking and we were only asked how we liked our food at the very end of the meal and were only checked in once during the entire experience for filling our water glasses.
