She was so sweet, attentive, hilarious and made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. She was just wonderful all around. The food was delicious- they're not kidding about those asparagus fries!! They're SO good. I had the salmon sammy and my husband had the Bam Sammy and both were *chefs kiss* - we sat outside because it was a beautiful day - outdoor seating is comfortable and fun because you can people watch. Came with the family for Christmas Eve. It had been about a year since my last visit and found the menu refresh along with improved service to be very high marks. I was hoping to get into the quieter dining room, however; I believe it was booked by a private event. The main dining area with the bar was still very loud, however; we got to sit in the corner and the noise was a bit more moderate. Fork remains a solid choice downtown and am back to a highly recommend (and will be back soon). read more

Was a recommendation from someone I do business with while in town for a convention and oh em gee, I was not disappointed. I love a farm to fork restaurant and always try to eat at places local to where I'm visiting, Fork did not disappoint. I ordered the Idaho Rainbow Trout over farro and it's was melt in my mouth delicious. Perfect portion, the farro was perfectly cooked and flavorful. I had the fork lemonade, which I was hesitant on getting because I'm not typically a vodka fan, this lemonade was fabulous! It was muddled with 4 types of berries and I couldn't taste the vodka at all, I slurped that lemonade down with ease and happily ordered another. This was good dining on the streets of downtown Boise! Literally, look at those pictures, we were in the middle of it all with our outdoor booth! Came on a Friday evening and enjoyed people watching on the streets, live music from a guitarist across the way, and a little bit of yelling from a homeless man, but hey that's nothing a Californian can't handle. The menu had a nice variety, plenty of appetizers, sandwiches and burgers, and different meat/vegetarian/fish options for the entrées. I ended up going with the special of the evening which was salmon served with a lemon caper cream sauce orzo. This was the first time I've ever been asked how I would like my fish cooked, I went with medium well and it was absolutely perfect for my liking, very flakey and moist. Our server was also fantastic! She was honest about letting us know which items were and weren't necessarily her favorites, she helped us make informed choices so we ended up happy with what we ordered. Would love to come back here when I'm craving a sandwich because some of them sounded really good, and the fries were delicious! Really liked the look and feel of the restaurant from the outside since it was an old bank in a very cool building. The architecture and the old school fork sign created a cool vibe. After a cold and soggy afternoon in Boise that had me feeling like a wet sock, I stumbled into Fork, a cozy beacon of warmth with more charm than a rom-com leading man. I was greeted by a server whose smile was brighter than my future and whose attentiveness to my wine glass was nothing short of heroic. Such a cool place. First of all the building is amazing but the restaurant itself is also so beautifully decorated. We ordered the brussels sprouts as an appetizer, and I ordered the rainbow beet salad for lunch with a side of grilled chicken. Let me start with the brussels sprouts. Those were some of the yummiest sprouts I have ever had. They were super tender, sweet was spicy and so filling. The rainbow beet salad was so delicious! I ordered the dressing on the side but honestly, the dressing was so yummy that I ended up using all of it up. It's definitely a salad I'll be thinking about on my way back home. Another special thing about the salad was the way they grilled the chicken. The chicken was not dry, it was so tender and it pulled apart easily. I didn't really have to even use a knife. Some aspects hit & some didnt...the buttercake ice cream dessert was phenomenal and one of the absolute best desserts weve ever had! The chicken was fresh, seasoned well, however felt unevenly cooked with it being super hot in some areas and cold in others. The grits under were completely cold. WOW!! The food here is incredible. My husband and I both ordered the angus steak with magnificent Idaho potatoes: Northwest Filet Au Poirve. We paired it with a bottle of the amazing French wine: Coudoulet de Beaucastel (Côtes-du-Rhône | Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée | Red Wine). I was so disappointed in the food. The website had some great photography but the food did not live up to the photos. I had the blackened tuna sandwich which lacked flavor, had a lot of bread to meat ratio and was really a cold sandwich since it tasted like the tuna came out of the fridge. We had the tomato basil fondue but the grilled cheese part was hard and crusty. The cheese had been baked and left out and the whole dish was unpleasant to eat. Also, there was so much oil in the soup, it floated on top. A friend had ordered the trout and said it was good but it was not cooked completely. For dessert we had the apple cobbler and the butter cake. The cobbler was overloaded with nuts and was set in a cake crispy and not a cobbler topping. Another disappointment. The butter cake did live up to the hype so I will give them that. The service was fine but not exemplary. They did a good job of clearing the plates and bringing soda and water refills. They neither added or took away from the overall experience. All in all, I wouldn't recommend going to Fork. read more

The food was good yet not anything to write home about (I had the filet au poivre with shrimp which is their most expensive dish). Hostess was snooty. I sat at the bar, and although the bartended serving me was super nice, the other bartender was dropping incessant F-bombs and other foul language throughout the course of my time there which made my dining experience not so enjoyable. The couple sitting next to me said that they had already spoken to a manager about that bartender's behavior, and evidently, nothing was done about it. read more

My husband and I took my visiting family here and we were not disappointed! My husband and I actually tried Tupelo Honey the previous weekend, and I gotta say, we both prefer Fork by a mile. Everything we ordered had good portions and had great, balanced flavors. We ordered the following: - Hearty Biscuits & Gravy: House-made buttermilk biscuit topped with Porterhouse country style sausage with rich gravy and two local eggs your way. This is what I ordered and it was so good! The biscuits had a crispy texture outside, but tender and moist inside. I appreciated that they had one that was smothered with the sausage gravy, and one that didn't have sauce so you can have both a "dry" and smothered biscuit. The sausage gravy punches you in the face with flavor, and the sage in it is a nice touch. They also have a gluten-free version of this, if you prefer. - Huevos Rancheros: Crispy Boise Fresca corn tortillas, braised carnitas, black beans, Ballard cheddar, Chef's red chili sauce, two local over-easy eggs with cilantro, cotija & pickled red onions. Both my husband and my bro-in-law could not stop talking about how good this was! - Fried Chicken & Ballard Cheddar Waffle 'Sliders': Orange-local Ahaus honey butter & summer seasonal wild berry-maple syrup. My sister really loved this. She doesn't even like syrup, but she said the syrup really brings everything together in this dish. - Rosemary-Parmesan Idaho French Fries: Probably one of the best fries I've ever had. The touch of rosemary really brings the right amount of uniqueness to these fries, and the flavor was not overwhelming at all. Paired really nicely with the parmesan, and the fries themselves were the perfect texture balance of crispy outside and tender inside. Would definitely order again this in all our future visits. - Fork's Signature Warm Butter Cake: Their age ol' recipe topped with local Cloverleaf vanilla ice cream, fresh fruit & Oregon berry coulis. This would have been too sweet without the fresh fruit and the berry coulis, so that was good for them to add those. Definitely good for sharing. A big factor to how great our experience was was how awesome our server was, Nicole. She was patient, kind, and very accommodating! We never felt forgotten at any point. We were invited back to try Fork again after a disappointing visit last year, and were pleasantly surprised! This time we brought our preschooler for brunch on Father's Day. I started with the cold brew with vanilla bar cream, which was delicious and not too sweet. The French Toast Sticks were uniquely crispy and caramel-y -- we all agreed that this was some of the best French toast we've ever had. My husband enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros Stack despite it being pretty soupy, and the Chef's Benny was fantastic. I was confused when the benedict arrived with salmon rather than the ham that was listed in the menu description, but it was a delightful mix-up because I prefer salmon. Service was polite, and when we were first brought the wrong order, the error was rectified immediately. The place was packed but food and drinks came quickly. My friends and I were looking for a nice restaurant in the area and were so glad we found Fork. We started with their Asparagus Fries because we saw so many other tables order it. We were so glad we did because they were really generous with the portion size and all of them were perfectly crispy. I also tried their Short Rib (the portion was huge!) and tried some of my friends' mash potatoes. All the dishes were really solid. Had dinner here with co workers while we were in town. Place was pretty busy! Drinks were delish and our server was great! The food options seemed a little limited as we wanted to have more small bites and appetizers with our meals but they did not have much. I ordered the sea bass which servings were plentiful! It was good but I wasn't really wowed. I think it had a little bit too much of the mandarins or more sweetness in the flavoring? Not sure. Overall we had a good, yummy dinner at Fork although there was a small drama. We ordered the fried asparagus, fried chicken sammy and a slowed cooked brisket sammy. The asparagus fries tasted pretty good - chubby asparagus that was crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. We loved the crispy fluffy bread in both sandwiches and the fries. The slow cooked brisket sammy was very flavorful - highly recommend it. The fried chicken sammy came with raw meat inside. We were so lucky that we cut it into halves first and found the issue. We reported it to the server and got an apology & a free replacement of the entire dish from the kitchen very quickly. The small drama definitely made us disappointed a bit. We tried the replaced sammy immediately - The chicken itself tasted okay - hot and a bit too salty - a heavy tasted sandwich for sure. The chips on side lacked flavor. Fork is a great place for dinner in Boise ID. I ordered take out to enjoy in my airBNB. I ordered the surf n turf with steak and scallops, cheeseburger and a plate of taco sliders to share. The food was delicious, wished for more Scallops! The pork tacos lacked some taste and the salsa on the side helped. I think some spiciness to the pork tacos would go a long way. I waited about a min to get help from the person manning the front desk. I asked her if utensils were included and she said yes. When I got back to the airBNB there was no utensils. I loved Fork! We went here for a late dinner on a Sunday and there was an hour wait time. We were seated at the bar, which I honestly enjoyed. We experienced an attentive server/bartender, who checked in on us often (but not too much) and was very personable. We got the asparagus fries, cocktails, urban burger, a fish dish (sorry - I can't recall the exact name), and the butter cake! Everything was PHENOMENAL and we enjoyed it all! Regardless of what entree you get, I would 10/10 recommend getting the butter cake -- it was so moist and delicious! Stopped by for lunch on the way back from Yellowstone and the food was great! We wanted to try the Idaho Rainbow Trout and were not disappointed. The fish was very well cooked and the asparagus and balsamic vinegar provided complimentary flavors. Also ordered some rosemary parmesan fries which were phenomenal. They were incredibly crispy and fresh, it's been a few days since I've been and I'm still thinking about them. For dessert we got the butter cake with vanilla ice cream and WOW it was so good. I wish they had huckleberry ice cream but they were unfortunately out that day. The butter cake is very heavy so I suggest you share it with another person if you all got your own entrees. We came on a weekday for lunch so it wasn't too crowded but I can imagine they are popular for dinner and weekends. Glad to update my review of Fork in Boise, after a good recent experience. They really upgraded their service experience with terrific and friendly waitstaff, orders coming out with good timing and enjoyable food, particularly the desserts. We asked local family to pick their favorite spot in town for outdoor dining, and they did not hesitate to pick Fork, which they described as one of an handful of nicest places to dine outdoors in Boise. We started with fried asparagus, with ranch that a family member was eyeing. Asparagus was essentially tempura-ed. We ordered tacos off the appetizer menu, as an entree. One in our party ordered the local ruby red Idaho trout with farro and vegetable succotash, which was colorful and the fish, fresh. (Not sure about the use of mandarin oranges in this dish, but do enjoy fruit in a savory dish, particularly if not canned.) One got the filling and stick to your bones smoked brisket mac and cheese topped with roasted, smoked peanuts, and another got the smoked brisket sandwich with coleslaw. The best part of Fork dining, besides the nice outdoor downtown setting, and the trout which was local, delicious and fresh, were our desserts. Strong recommend on the butter cake with fresh fruit. I think the best thing I can say about this place is the Ambiance. It was beautiful outside just as it was in. I think the service could definitely use some work. Our server was a bit standoffish and the person that brought our food was about the same. Ryan our server got worse and more rude as the evening progressed. Both not very happy to be where they are. The worst part was the food, The rainbow trout I had was terrible, dry, flavorless. The Farro was nice though, and that orange sauce added a nice touch but definitely needed more on my plate to even make a dent in how sad that trout was. The 16 dollar asparagus wasn't too bad either, apart from how small the portion was for the price. The potato chips that came with the sandwich were terrible; how do you mess up a potato chip? lastly, the prime rib sandwich. This was actually decent, better, mediocre. Anyways overall the service and food could definitely use some work. I don't think the prices justify the meal whatsoever. read more
