Not much of a soup person... until Fooki. I never thought I'd say this, but I've been to Fooki four times in just three weeks--and I'm completely obsessed. Their broth is out of this world. I catch myself thinking about it weekly... and next thing I know, I'm back in the restaurant. So far, I've tried the dumplings in soup, wonton noodle soup, Cow Wow noodle soup, and beef noodle soup. Every bowl is deeply comforting--flavorful without being too heavy or salty. You can tell the broth is made in-house and simmered just right. It's clean, hearty, and layered with umami. Plus, they're generous with the veggies (though I always order extra because I love bok choy). On the side, I've had the Fooki bao and potstickers--both absolutely delicious. The pork belly in the bao was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sweet peanuts added the perfect contrast. The potstickers were standout too: clearly homemade, generously filled, and way above average in both size and taste. Every dish I've tried has exceeded expectations. Their drink menu is also stacked--with milk teas, fruit teas, smoothies, and even alcoholic options. I had the honey green tea and found it simple, refreshing, and just sweet enough. For dessert, the honey toast is a must. It's perfectly portioned for 2-3 people and even has a toasted marshmallow between the ice cream and the bread. If you like spicy, the braised broth adds a little bit of a kick-- but imo it mutes the richness of the broth some. Noodles are a little more on the al dente side. My husband and I came here to meet some of our friends who live on the island and we enjoyed a nice New Year's Day dinner. I picked the place and my friend said, "good choice." So I made reservations and we got seated right away. The food was delicious and perfect for the weather just as it started raining when we arrived. We ordered a couple appetizers which were the sausages, potstickers, and rolling beef. For my entree, I got the pork belly bowl and my husband ordered the cow wow noodle soup. Everything was so savory and amazing. For dessert, we got the ice cream honey toast which definitely hit the sweet spot. Went on a weekday during lunch and it wasn't too busy. The service was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the minced pork noodles, boom boom chicken, and the Fooki potstickers. The noodles is a good portion to share between 2 people and the chicken could be shared with 3-4. All of the dishes were very delicious and flavorful without overpowering each other. Never had jajang noodles so I decided to try. It was delicious with the fresh vegetables and sauce on the noodles. It doesn't come with a huge bowl but was still worth it. I will say I wish there were more spice on the noodles because it seemed to be lacking some. The table agreed some other dishes were lacking a bit of spice. Next time I might get chili flakes on the side. The dessert was great. I got the tofu pudding and it reminds me of Taho, one of my favorite Filipino desserts! The place is pretty clean but a little crammed with tables but still comfortably spacious if that makes sense. We sat down and they brought us our waters and menu real quick. We order the Monster Pork Chop Plate $20 -- Deep-fried pork chop, egg, sweet chill aioli with rice, bok choy, and egg topped with crispy shallots. This has to be one if not THE best pork chop we've ever had. It comes with two chips and enough rice for my husband and me to share. We also got an Ala carte order of the Boom Boom Chicken for $15 with fried basil on top. Okay, let me tell you about this chicken, it's like popcorn chicken on steroids so good. Trust and get it. Ask for the sweet chili aioli and mama's house chili sauce if you can take the heat. The last thing we ordered were the Mala Wontons for $14 in their mala sauce and bean sprouts. Food was tasty and came out pretty quick. I had the fried chicken, there was a pork chop, and ribs order as well. It's a favorite common dish in Taiwan featuring generous chunks of braised pork, with gravy over rice with vegetables. The pork mince on noodles was actually pork belly mince and wasn't my favorite. Tasting the fruit flavored beers was fun (pineapple and mango were good, lychee was a little too juice like), and my brown sugar milk tea transported me right back to Okinawa. After disappointing Taiwanese food last night we were eager to find a good one and saw this one. We came in during lunch and were seated right away. The place had about 12 tables of different sizes. We ordered Cow Wow noodle soup, beef scallion noodles, cold ginger chicken, Lou rou fan (Taiwanese ground pork rice), Vietnamese iced coffee and Fookie milk tea. Our food came out fairly quick. My first time at Fooki today after hearing so much about it through the coconut wireless. Here's my take on it: Fooki is a charming little Taiwanese restaurant off Kamehameha Highway at the Pearl Kai restaurant area. Before we talk about the AMAZING food, I just want to say its decor was charming and an organic kind of rustic rather than those fancy restaurants that pay a lot to look rustic. The food is fcking HEAVENLY and it came out of the kitchen not long after we ordered. It was actually a quick wait. Service was a quiet yet pleasant and kind experience. The server always came by to check on us and the other tables. We were seated immediately too when we arrived. I appreciated that because there are restaurants that can be almost empty, yet leave you standing there until they feel like wandering over to get you seated. Fooki is the opposite. You feel welcomed and they get straight to taking your order and making your food. The boom boom chicken tasted so good. Crunchy and had the white sauce that made it even more amazing. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and oh so good. The dumplings were LARGE and not store bought. They were definitely made here and you could actually see and taste the shrimp and pork in it. Not like the store bought stuff that's small and shrinks when cooked. My kids fought over the dumplings. The pork bao was sooo tender too and the bun was perfectly soft with the garlic sprinkled on and around it. It had a kick but was yummy too. The last dish we had was the mixed mochi for dessert. Our favorite was the peanut butter. It's funny, we don't usually like mochi, but that was some good stuff. I was happy that my kids tried something different and loved it. Todd opened the front door for us when we arrived. As soon as we sat at our table, 2 other employees immediately brought the water, napkins and chopsticks. I thought, wowza, such prompt service. I liked the cucumbers that came with the pork belly dish it reminded me of bread and butter pickles. The menu said Taiwanese dishes. There was a piece looking like a triangle of aburage and my silly mind reminded me of stinky tofu when we were in Taiwan one evening. It had a mild taste and smell compared to that - ahhh memories. My favorite was the scallion noodle dish. I would order that again. It was like a bibim kooksu with the ingredients neatly placed around and on the dish. I've been wanting to try Fooki for a while and was sadly disappointed. We tried a variety of things and the only thing I'd get again was the lihing sweet potato fries. They were the perfect texture and super crispy. I couldn't taste the lihing at all. We also tried the scallions pancake. It was good but a little bland for my liking. I ordered the classic original beef noodle soup. Since I was sharing with my daughter I did not order the braised version since it's supposed to be spicy. It was okay. The noodles were good. The broth was bland. The meat was tender but bland. My husband ordered the boomboom chicken. He enjoyed it. I thought the meat was a little tough. Fooki is located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center so parking is usually a breeze. This restaurant is semi kid friendly. I liked that they gave utensils and smaller plates for my toddler but this restaurant may not be for you if you have wiggly little ones. All of the lap straps were cut off on both the booster seats and high chairs. Overall my experience at Fooki was okay. I don't know that I will be back. read more

Their menu includes a lot of traditional and fusion dishes organized by appetizers, soups, rice dishes, desserts, and drinks. We had a few missing dishes and had to let them know. Frustrating at times, but not enough to make us not come back. Stopped in for lunch the other day in between classes, and was pleasantly greeted upon entering and advised to sit anywhere I wanted. I ordered the classic beef noodle soup for $20, with the braised option for $2 more. Braised apparently is a more flavorful broth, and wow, it was delicious. So much flavor. But the meat, oh my goodness. The meat was absolutely tender and very, very flavorful. And they give you a lot! The noodles were nice and thick as well. I was really pleasantly surprised by Fooki after being told by all my Taiwanese friends that Hawai'i doesn't really have good Taiwanese food. Nonetheless Fooki kept popping up as being the best potential option, and I'm really glad I tried it! The food tasted like home, just fancied up a little. There are some SE Asian inspired fusion options on the menu too, but I stuck to ordering Taiwanese fares. We got several things to share: Mala oil poached chicken (super juicy and tender with an addicting Mala chili sauce), wonton noodle soup (well done and nice thin skin & flavorful filling, and delicious savory broth), the beef wrap (such a classic, meaty and filling street food in Taipei), a classic braised bowl that reminded me of plate lunches, and a lilikoi slushie with properly chewy boba. I'd absolutely come back again whenever I'm craving a taste of home and try more things, and I'm already looking forward to trying their sweet tofu pudding dessert.
