Always a pleasure to dine at Foo Chow. Was seated right away on Saturday after the lunch rush hours. Every single trip, Orange Chicken and Soup are always a must. Half soup order is enough for a group of four with each person getting a serving.

3.5/5 stars We ordered for delivery. Everything was just alright. Large portions. I was very excited about the orange chicken but the sauce wasn't tangy and the chicken was heavily breaded. The bbq pork was good with the bbq sauce but dry. The shrimp fried rice was good, with plenty of large shrimps.

Tucked into Chinatown, there's a Chinatown night market food stall on Saturday night. Parking: Parked at a side street and walked all the way over to the restaurant. There's not a lot of designated parking spots available for Service: Fast and efficient. Shrimp w/ lobster sauce: It's okay. Big juicy pieces of shrimp. Shrimp w/ Walnuts: Not that great compared to Chinese food in SGV, but it's okay. Lemon meyers slices with shrimp drenched in mayo and

I don't understand the low review. I had a spectacular time and the food was THE BEST. Service was attentive, ambiance was relaxing and you can identify the table Carter sat at. Highly recommend honey walnut shrimp because these shrimps r huge, hot and sour soup was def the best I've had and the crispy duck may look unappetizing but tastes very good and all items before tip was under 100 dollars. Highly highly recommend this place for family style!

This is one of my favorite Chinese food restaurants to go to in LA. Of course it's iconic for being in the first Rush Hour movie and I love that but the food is also good. I usually get their shrimp and broccoli in garlic sauce. I will say it doesn't seem like the decor has changed since I was younger but I love it nonetheless. And it's right across the street from the Chinatown's central plaza where's there's a bunch of small shops to go to and Bruce Lee's statue

At a corner and easy to find with its green paint and noticeable wording of rush hour. When we went in it was not busy yet but crowd started to trickle in. It is a standard Chinese joint if you know what I mean. Simple service, not much follow up after meal given, not the most wondrous decor. But what is most important is the food! Got the fried rice and beef chow fun. Portion standard but price is sadly so high. Of course it's the economy too but I would at least increase portion! It is too bad that most Chinese food now cost double but portion has stayed same from 5 years ago. Flavor wise it's standard and good. You can find same food in other Chinese restaurant.

A simple Chinese restaurant in Chinatown downtown LA but some amazing food. They're specialized in seafood but they also have other dishes. The Jackie Chan film "Rush Hour" was partially filmed there. It is a very modest restaurant with reasonable prices and typical Chinese restaurant service. It's an older building with small restrooms and simple furnishings, but the food is excellent and it is not expensive. Ambiance not much but nice to compare to the movie scenes and saw cool photos of that time on the wall. Nearby businesses were closed or closed down mostly.

What better way to celebrate Chinese New Year in Los Angeles than by going to Chinatown? Unfortunately, quite a few people had the same idea! We ended up at Foo Chow after unsuccessfully trying to get into another restaurant nearby. This place only had a 5 minute wait, so we decided to have a couple quick dishes here to see what it was all about. Situated on Hill, across from the iconic Chinatown Central Plaza, the location of this restaurant is great. It would appear they've been in operation since 1977, which is also impressive. It was even more exciting to find out that this was a filming location for the movie Rush Hour. Who would have known? While our time here was short, we had a great experience. Service was nice, quick, and efficient. I'm happy we tried this place!

A Charming, Star-Studded Dining Experience at Foo Chow I recently discovered Foo Chow and it's quickly become one of my favorite spots. Fun fact: a Jackie Chan movie was filmed here, so you get a little Hollywood magic with your meal! From the moment you walk in, the staff greet you warmly and serve piping‑hot tea to start. Every dish is made fresh to order, and the quality shines through in every bite--flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Foo Chow strikes the perfect balance for a cozy date night or a relaxed family gathering. The atmosphere is intimate without feeling stuffy, and there's plenty of space for a small group of friends, too. Bonus tip: swing by for their lunch special, available from 11 AM to 2 PM, when all entrées are half‑off. It's an unbeatable deal on an already great menu. Highly recommend checking out Foo Chow--you'll leave happy, full, and maybe even one scene closer to stardom!

Old school since 1977. I've been wanting to eat here for years and I finally stopped by for dinner, they close at 900pm. For the movie buffs they filmed Rush Hour (1998) here. They offer dinner specials with a list of different main courses for 23 dollars which includes soup, appetizers, steam rice, and tea. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and to my surprise it was a lot of food, enough to box up and take some home.

Stopped in on a rainy LA day and parked across the street at the $5 parking garage but if you're lucky maybe you'll find street parking. There was tables for couples up to 8 people at a round family style table with a lazy Susan in the middle for rotating the à la carte style entrees around the table. We had 6 people in our group and were served promptly through the hustle and bustle of the Saturday crowd. This food was exactly what I want Chinese food to taste like. No soy sauce needed. Nothing extra needed on anything we touched. Absolutely amazing. The walnut shrimp was the star of the show for sure. 10/10 highly recommend, matter of fact we ordered two because that's how good it was. The combination noodles were absolutely delicious as well, my only complaint that there was only one shrimp and we wanted more shrimps. The cashew chicken was also delicious, the perfect ratio of chicken to veggies with mushrooms cashews zucchini and celery. We ordered the Mongolian beef which was full of sautéed onions, not bad I just wish it was a little more saucy. My son who is a self proclaimed orange chicken connoisseur thought the orange chicken here was mid. They use dark meat for the orange chicken and we weren't impressed with the sauce. It was the least touched entree surprisingly but to be fair there wasn't anything truly wrong with it. Overall the food was delicious and we will definitely make an effort to come back. Surprisingly this inconspicuous spot was in Rush Hour so it almost makes a cute tourist spot if you're a blockbuster fan. Of course now we have to rewatch the movie.

We had two orders of slippery shrimp, kung pao chicken, eggplants with hot and spicy garlic sauce, juicy steamed dumplings, and pork fried rice. Overall, both restaurants in Chinatown and Pasadena provide great food quality. The ambience was cozy with dim lighting. Our round table had a wooden rotating tray. They have pictures of celebrities and politicians who've visited their restaurant. Service was relatively quick, but there was a 20-minute wait for the dumplings. Valet parking can get difficult when the lot gets full. A few cars entering the narrow driveway had to reverse out of the way to let others leave. The kung pao chicken was very tasty with a good amount of spice. I noticed that the slippery shrimp didn't taste as spicy as the portion from Pasadena. Reviews say that the spice is adjustable. Regardless. it tasted great as it came right off the pan. The pork fried rice was delicious with a savory flavor that didn't seem overpowering. I thought the juicy steamed dumplings were the weakest dish out of our whole order. There wasn't enough flavor and heat from the broth. I didn't try much of the eggplants, but they tasted adequate for me.

I've come here two times - with a 5:30 p.m. reservation - and enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. Pro-tip #1: Do not get their bread & butter starter; it is an absolute waste of money - a mate of mine went only to find out that it is a literal small smear of butter. The price is outrageous at $6 for 3 small pieces of bread and $5 for that butter smear - I promise you, this is not worth your money whatsoever. The first time I came here, we got bar seating and shared everything: 0. DRINKS & AMUSE-BOUCHE 0.1. Hojicha Milk Punch: Kettl Fuuka Hojicha, Cara Cara Orange Zest + Juice - $16 I do not recommend this - all I tasted was the yoghurt. 0.2. Celery root blini, creme fraiche, N25 ossetra caviar, reduction of apple and black vinegar - $15 A little too much apple reduction & balsamic vinegar, but otherwise, 8/10 - a little more caviar would be good. 1. COURSE 1: APPETISER 1.1. Wagyu Beef Tongue Carpaccio: Fermented kohlrabi, mala vinaigrette, arugula I didn't get the appeal of the Wagyu beef tongue - I have a lot of lengua (tongue) tacos and this honestly tasted like every other tongue I've had. The mala vinaigrette was gorgeously mouth-tingly, but I could have done with a little bit more kohlrabi and arugula; after a bite, I did feel a little heavy; despite it being a muscle, it doesn't taste anything iron-y like liver would. 1.2. Trout Tartare: Oro blanco, preserved chilies, jasmine Oh so absolutely fresh - I loved that I could taste the jasmine in a subtle manner & it was balanced perfectly with just the right amount of spicy kick from the preserved chillies, with the citrus juice from the oro blanco truly making this such a stellar "spring" dish with the trout. The gelee jasmine that was served was the right amount of tartiness with the oro blanco that I had knew I had to come back a second time to have it again. 2. COURSE 2: APPETISER 2.1. Duck Sausage en Crépinette: Apple condiment, red braised daikon, swiss chard It's a hefty, single (but not fatty or heavy) meatball and I personally found you only need a little bit of the condiment as it's sweet. 2.2. Stuffed Morels: Tofu and mushroom parfait, young peas, green garlic, buddha's hand This. This is the SINGLE dish that I would get again and again. It was such a fresh, refreshing, light, citrus-y, mildy chewy dish, perfectly balanced with young peas & green garlic. 3. COURSE 3: ENTREE 3.1. Grilled Short Rib: Black garlic, cabbage and leek terrine, yuxiang, pepper jus So rich, but not heavy; almost like it was a mole sauce - the beef was super tender. 3.2. Roasted Local Fish: Preserved mustard, green Sichuan, fennel, glass noodles Delicious, fresh, and light. 4. COURSE 4: DESSERT 4.1. Vanilla Sponge: Red bean, oolong, blackcurrent, blackberry Light sponge, delicous sauce; well made and not-too-sweet - a high compliment. 4.2. Lime Leaf Curd: Cashew, coconut, white chocolate This literally took me back to my childhood in Southeast Asia - I absolutely loved - LOVED - the strong lime leaf flavour, paired with the --Loved the seafood dishes because everything I got was fresh, citrus-y and light dishes; the meat dishes were a little heavier in the mouthfeel & sweeter due to the sauces they came with. Banana Pudding: Rum gel, tonka cream, brown butter Awesome crunch; lovely, thick gel texture; yummy butteryness. Service was great - attentive, not-too-talkative or hovering, and consistent.
