It took something really special for me to finally leave a review: My Wife had an appendicitis and was in the hospital. She hasn't eaten in 2 days because the surgery kept getting pushed. When she heard she could eat again within 1 hour after the surgery, she asked for Flower Child to be ready to go. She ordered the noodles, chicken entree with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, and pudding. We received everything as expected and it was delicious, but the icing on the cake was they surprised her with flowers & a free pudding! A friend suggested Flower Child, and boy am I glad she did! I ordered the Mother Earth bowl with tofu and it was amazing. Flavorful, hearty, well-seasoned, and filling without being heavy. I also got the prickly pear pineapple sangria. Though it was tasty (like all sangrias), it didn't have much prickly pear nor pineapple flavor. Would not recommend getting your hopes up for what sounds like an amazing combination, because it tasted like your typical run-of-the-mill sangria. Flower Child is one of my favorite restaurants! They have such a great selection for those with allergies or those wanting to eat healthier. Everything I've tried has been delicious, but I especially love their steak plate with gluten free mac and cheese, enchiladas, butternut squash lasagna (specialty item so not always on the menu unfortunately), kombucha on tap, and gluten free lemon cake, and chocolate coconut pudding. You honestly can't go wrong with any of those! The food here is very well prepared and even those without allergies or health concerns love it. Worst delivery experience ever, I ordered my family a meal around 6:00 pm, and mentioned delivery is at 7:02 pm when we got the order it was for someone else, we have someone wrong order. I called the place they said they will send someone, we live 12-14 minutes away from the restaurant. ** November 2021 Visit ** At the time of my visit I didn't know, but Flower Child is a fast casual chain restaurant with the bulk of the branches in Arizona. There are three in California, but unfortunately, not close to enough to home/work for me to visit regularly. Regardless, I decided to check them out since I wanted to replenish my body with some healthy (but tasty) greens. During my visit there was a Buy a $50 gift card and get a $10 gift card for free, (I think this is a holiday promotion) so I figured I would take advantage of the deal since all the Yelp reviews were so positive. So, glad I did as the food here was my favorite during my Phoenix roadtrip and I visited twice! I ordered the "Butternut Squash & Organic Pear Salad" ($10.95) which included brussel sprouts, arugula, organic kale, candied pecan, ricotta salata, cranberry, puffed wild rice, and sherry dressing. It has a nice crisp, acidic flavor and all the ingredients just work well together. It's incredibly refreshing and for an additional charge you can get a protein - Salmon is definitely the best just take my word for it. The use white breast meat for the chicken, which is a tad dry for my taste and the shrimp is just so-so. I also tried their unique fountain beverages, but didn't find anything too spectacular with it; however, if I lived/worked close to Flower Child I would likely still be a regular customer at Flower Child, because I love that salad! Additionally, the hippie, vibe of the environment is so relaxing and honestly would be a great place to hang out with family and friends. Honestly, I LOVE THIS PLACE. It is on the pricier side but I never feel guilty for wanting to eat out at Flower Child. Their menu has a variety of options to pick from. My favorite is the Mother Earth bowl with steak and Chili Sweet Potatoes. It's so yummy and filling! Aesthetics totally matter to me. The room is welcoming and beautifully decorated. I LOVE their bathroom. I truly dislike dirty public restrooms so, a beautifully decorated and CLEAN bathroom is always appreciated. I used to love the food at Flower Child. Not having eaten here for a while and not at this location, I went with a friend for a girl's night out. We both got sick. It was weird to realize that we both got sick eating different foods here so we've concluded that Flower Child must be using the MSG equivalent called yeast extract in their dishes, or some other flavor enhancer. Such a disappointment. When we ate our 2+ a protein plates, there was nothing in common on either of our plates. She had chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli salad. I had tofu, sweet potatoes and cauliflower. Both of us thought our food tasted 'umami' during dinner, but within about 30 minutes after finishing we both were exhausted (like limbs made of concrete) and cranky and I had a mild sensation of my throat closing (I'm allergic to some yeasts and MSG). Clearly an allergic reaction for both of us after the uber-tasty vegetable dishes. I would bet on it being 'yeast extract' or something similar as a flavor enhancer and welcome a comment/response from Flower Child to explain what's in their food that did this to both of us eating completely different foods at their restaurant. Until we know what made us feel like utter crap after eating dinner here, we won't be back. Life is too short to have an immune response to one's dinner. read more

I ordered my food online. They are quick and efficient. I got the same thing as always and it did not disappoint! They have everything ready as I ordered and bring it out as soon as I pull up. I like to eat a half for lunch and save the rest for dinner. It's the perfect amount. Always filling and always efficient! The one thing that I would improve is to make sure to provide plastic utensils in the to go bags as they often don't give any.
