Papdi Chaat
Mehul M.

Finally have a chat spot in this area and I was excited to try it. I ordered a Papdi chaat and a Sev batata puri. Both were to go and she made them as I got there so it didn't get soggy. The Papdi chaat was excellent, I just added some yogurt at home. Service was nicely done as they didn't prep is before to avoid it getting soggy. Normal Indian fast food spot ambiance.

As I think others have mentioned, this appears to be an old taco shop. You order at the counter and there are a few tables to sit at inside. The gentlemen at the counter was so fantastic, very kind and patient as we tried to decide on what to order. He was happy to explain the dishes we weren't familiar with and confirmed everything is vegetarian. We got the laccha paratha plates with paneer curry and chole curry, the pani puri, samosa chaat, and the vada pav. All of the dishes were delicious with good flavor and texture. The samosa chaat was my favorite. I appreciated the food was all served on compostable trays. While this is a bit far from where I live, I hope to make back here soon.

It was hard to make it here during my trip to Phoenix because of their limited hours, but I am SO…read moreglad I did. As a health food vegan, I am always on the lookout for food like this: whole foods/plant-based, including some oil-free options. Their whole menu reads like a list of my favorite food buzzwords: buckwheat, lentil cauliflower scramble, sunflower seed meat, local fermented sauerkraut, freshly milled Sonoran wheat; tempeh, sourdough, homemade seeded bread, homemade cashew milk, etc. etc. It was legitimately hard to decide what to get. I went with the baked(!) strawberry banana oat buckwheat pancakes. Super tasty, and a generous portion. I also couldn't resist an oil-free sunbutter cookie (with its wacky bluegreen tinge that was apparently from the sunflower seeds) and also loved the cold brew coffee with cashew milk.

It is a little pricey, however, it's worth the cost. As I mentioned, everything is healthy and made fresh. You can't get that without paying a bit extra Their bread is so good, the chutney is awesome, their little side salads are so tasty. I haven't tried anything here that I have not loved. They are a small husband and wife run business, which is always great to see. They are very friendly people who clearly love what they do. There's limited seating indoors, as it's inside Barnone, but you can easily find places to sit outdoors as well.

The atmosphere is upbeat, bright, and welcoming with a really good energy whether you're stopping in for lunch, dinner, or meeting up with a larger group. The setup works especially well for groups since there's plenty of seating and the ordering process keeps things moving even when it's busy. One thing they do very well is efficiency without losing hospitality. They have both a dine-in ordering counter and a dedicated to-go counter, which seems necessary because this place stays packed. Even during busy times, the staff stays friendly, attentive, and organized. You can tell there's real attention paid to each order and that management understands how to run a smooth restaurant operation. The menu has a lot of solid choices whether you want something lighter, comforting, vegetarian, or protein-packed. Portions were satisfying, and the broccoli deserves its own mention -- somehow simple but absolutely addictive. My only real note is that pricing feels a little high for an order-at-the-counter style restaurant. That said, the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience do make it easier to justify once in a while.

I know my opinion is probably unpopular because it seems like everybody loves Flower Child, but it's not really my cup of tea. I fully understand, though, that that's just me. I do have some weird food issues. I will say this place is so bright and airy and just lovely. I love the paned windows that look out onto the patio, the very high ceilings, and the brown rattan lighting fixtures. Even though the space is quite large, it's extremely inviting. That said, it's a great place for something healthy. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the choices if you're trying to eat well. My friends lunch looked much better than what I had. I had the Flying Avocado Wrap, and I didn't love it. In fact I didn't finish even half of it - - I took it home and my son ate it. I think it's the bread I don't like, and anyone who knows me knows I can be really picky. Will I come back? Probably. When I have lunch with somebody else who wants to come here, I won't have a problem with it. I would really like to try the forbidden Rice that my friend had. But I'm not likely to ever swing by here on my own.

Not too busy of a shopping area so parking was easy. I walked inside and a staff member asked if I was picking up, and had my food ready to go. I didn't ask for utensils and thankfully they didn't give me any. They do have them available on the side if needed. I liked that they had free stickers so I took two. It wasn't busy when I stopped by, just one couple dining in, but they had a few bags for takeout so that seems to keep them busy. Ambiance was nice with good amount of seating. I decided to have lunch in the nearby preserve and I enjoyed my food. I ordered the chickn sandwich, buffalo style, with a side of fries. The sandwich was delicious! Loved the flavors and it was filling. I'm glad I got it Buffalo style because the spiciness was great. The fries tasted good but were soft rather than crispy, which is what I prefer. I also got a side of cheez sauce ($2) which was pricey considering the size, and it didn't taste like cheese or anything similar. I would pass on this in the future. I ordered their Brussels sprouts which came with a side of tahini sauce, but they were salty and yummy so the sauce wasn't necessary imo. Overall I love vegan food and I wish there were more restaurants that serve it. This spot is solid and I'd come back to try other menu items and support them.

Chicken sandwich, truffle bacon Mac and cheese, bowl of chili, chili cheese fries, chickpea cauliflower tacos and jackfruit BBQ sandwich. We loved the chicken sandwich, super delightful and it was the best item we had today. The Mac and cheese was delicious; however, the rice paper bacon topping was interesting, a bit hard and chewy - surprisingly though, they were much better leftover after sitting in the fridge for a few hours softening up. I would certainly order the Mac again, but without the bacon topping next time. The chili was good, it had a sweet flavor and not really spicy, like at all but still tasted great. Probably for the better because while I enjoy spicy food, my partner does not and this was perfect for them, and for me adding some hot sauce to spice it up upgraded this for me. Chili cheese fries were bomb and the cauliflower tacos fell flat for us. I never thought I'd say this, but there was *too much guacamole on the tacos, instead of tasting the cauliflower and chickpea, it was a *lot of fresh guac. If you love jackfruit BBQ, you'll enjoy this BBQ sandwich, a sweet fresh and crisp flavor with the cucumber in there. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, the staff was pleasant, kind and friendly and they had a number of tables and booths to sit and enjoy our meal. I'll be back for sure, I just need to plan my trek out to the mesa area again to enjoy them.

In my various times coming I've had lamb biryani, two different types of thali, chicken tikka masala, chili paneer, reshmi chicken, desi dal tadka, and of course, mango lassi. Everything is absolute perfection and spice. The staff are all friendly, last night we had Simar who was attentive, funny, and we enjoyed some good banter. During the week for lunch it's a bit quieter but on a Friday and Saturday night it's hopping! Fun environment with good beer on tap, craft cocktails, and music.

We loved the plates and the serving dishes because of the charm we thought they had. Now they use these more American looking serving dishes that are just a huge bummer and look stale. But the reason why we came was because of the flavor, the seasoning was delicious. Now it tastes watered down. Like there is less cumin and a few other spices? Perhaps. Our favorite dish was the gobi Manchurian, we used to come because of how good it used to be. Now even that has lost its flavor. Even the cauliflower that was used today looked sad and watered down. With the prices that have gone up dramatically, the food losing its flavor, and the charm gone from the serving dishes I'm sad to say we won't come back. We were okay paying even double if it was just the same as before. Now you could NOT even pay me to eat here. I want to add that I think their customer service is great, the staff is always friendly, so it has nothing to do with that. Just the changes someone chose to make. My family and I are really sad because we feel like we've lost our favorite restaurant and now we have to find a new place. I hope everyone else enjoys the changes because we do not.
