First time trying Indian food, and it definitely won't be my last! My experience at Guru's Indian Kitchen was great from start to finish. The staff were kind, welcoming, and very helpful with recommendations on what to order. I ended up getting the Butter Chicken in both mild and medium, and both were amazing and packed with flavor. I also tried the Seekh Kebab, which was incredibly flavorful as well. Of course, I had to get the Garlic Naan to dip into the Butter Chicken -- that combination is unmatched! The kebab also came with a side of rice. As a first-timer trying Indian food, I can confidently say I'm now a fan. Definitely coming back to try more dishes! read more

First time here and probably 10 years since I went to an Indian Restaurant. I had no clue what to order so tried the Samosa Chaat. Asked the server what is in the dish and picked up garbanzo beans chutney, onion and some other things that were all vegetarian. Later learned it is a very popular Northern Indian Street Food. Large bowl arrived. It was very colorful and first bite was a blast of flavor that was hot and cold, spicy and sweet. It had layers of different flavors. The bottom of the bowl had samosa which had a doughy potato like texture, although there were no potatoes. I focused on the top half of the bowl as it was a plentiful dish and I knew it was more than I could handle.. You walk in order your food at the counter and they bring it to your table. Place has two dining areas and a large bar which was a bit unexpected. Would try this restaurant again put spend a lot more time researching the menu. They're not kidding about the standout garlic naan, it's delicious! Lovely restaurant with counter service and a full bar. We got the chicken korma and vegetable korma. Guru's Indian Kitchen is some of the best Indian food I have had in all my time in AZ. The menu is extensive and features many traditional dishes as well as popular favorites. I usually keep it basic and order chicken tikka masala because it's one of my favorites dishes hands down and it's SO good at Guru's. Quick, wasteful and friendly service for both dine in and take out. The staff here are always warm and friendly and willing to answer questions about menu utensils. Highly recommended! read more

We've ordered from gurus since they opened atleast 10 times. Today we sat down and ate at the restaurant for the first time and have to day it's even better when you're there. Butter chicken, chicken tandoori and paneer saag. We usually get the aloo palak instead of the saag and as they're both similar aloo palak wins. Their chicken tandoori is amazing, with great flavor and the sauce really penetrates the meat. Butter chicken is amazing as is lamb biryani. It's a nice restaurant to eat at, clean with nice bar. Outdoor seating looks great for when weather permits. We met the owner tonight and he was a great guy. Great service and hospitality. Family owned, great food, just what we needed around here. Everything we tried was delicious. The butter chicken is more tomato-y than most but had great flavor! The vegetable korma I will definitely be ordering again, but medium was surprisingly spicier than expected. Indian chia tea comes very strong and I was feeling and ice tea so I poored it into an ice cup and it was perfect! Garlic naan was very soft and flavorful. Their rice is lightly spiced and wonderfully fluffy. Staff was friendly and checks on even though you order and pay at the register. I will definitely be going back to try more. read more

Arrived for lunch during the week. Not busy at all. We ordered and seated ourselves. Great menu items, it had most of the traditional dishes. We shared the butter chicken and lamb vindaloo. Both were great dishes- flavorful and generous protein. The rice and garlic naan were also great. This is probably our go to place for Indian food near our house. The only con I'd give is the cost. It wasn't busy when my wife and I came on a Thursday for lunch. Plenty of parking but that may change as more businesses open. It's a fast casual restaurant, you order at the counter. There's ample seating inside that can accommodate small groups. They have a bar too! It looks like they will have patio seating in the future. I got the lamb vindaloo. We discovered this place, purely by driving by and sniffing the curry in the air! We ordered some samosas to go, along with a chai tea. Everything was delish!!! I esp recommend the veggie samosas which are full of flavor. They also give you a lot of sauces to go with them. The chai wasn't sweet but I'm sure you can request it sweetened. Too bad we weren't hungry enough for a full meal as we would have eaten here. Prices look decent along with the food. We'll be back to try out more things! read more

After moving here years ago, I had largely given up on finding Indian cuisine that truly impressed me--until I decided to give this restaurant a try. The Chicken 65 was exceptional, easily the best I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked with incredible flavor and balance. The Chicken Tikka Masala was equally outstanding--bold, rich, and deeply flavorful without being overpowering. Great ambiance, no wait, prompt service and everything was very clean. I ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan. The sauce was spot on, dipping that glorious naan into it really hit the spot. However, the chicken itself could use some improvement. One piece was chewy, another rubbery, and several tasted slightly freezer-burned with an overly strong chicken flavor. The marinade didn't quite mask that potency, so it didn't blend seamlessly with the sauce like one would expect with this dish. If not for that, I would have given this place a solid five stars.
