1/10/26: This visit was disappointing, and why I went from 4-star to 3-star. This particular Saturday we arrived for a late lunch, around 2:30 or so. When the young gentleman came to our table, we could barely hear him as he was talking low & mumbling. When we told him we were not there for the buffet, he seemed disappointed, almost as if he was thinking "now I have to do more work". We ordered from the menu, doing our best to listen & understand what he was saying / mumbling. This go visit we ordered a couple different samosas, gotta have me some naan!, chicken biryani, chicken mugulai soup, and some lassi drinks. The mango lassi was def the better one, the other was too salty. For dessert we ordered the kheer & rasmalai. The food was still good, but the service was ... well, it could have been much better. Not just the quiet, mumbling server, but having the dirty empty dishes (that we piled up on the corner of the table) sit there for far too long. Ordered from DoorDash. The food came fast. Which was nice. The Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer were ok, a little bland. Naan was good. My problem is with the potato samosas and the raita I ordered. The samosas were Hard. Hard and filled with some kind of crumbly meat? Also served on top of wet old lettuce.Inedible. The raita was sour smelling, watery, grainy and and had bubbles in it.... Gross. I used Uber Eats so I can't speak to the ambience or the service but I can tell you that when I called with questions, they were very helpful. And the food was good. The price was reasonable, although I found the serving sizes pretty small. They did fill each container to the top. I had the chicken korma and rice, which was quite tasty. It was all white meat chicken, but I did request that, so I don't know if that's something you have to actually request or if it comes that way. But it was yummy. My husband had that, plus garlic naan, which he enjoyed. I'll definitely be ordering from this place again. read more

By far the best Indian food in Gilbert. We love coming here and do a lot of takeout. Great prices compared to others and th food is always prepped in a timely manner. Thr serving sizes are quite large and always last a couple of meals. My favorite is the paneer masala and it's packed with flavor. Very nice owner. This is one of three locations. (The other is in Scottsdale/Tempe, and another at Power Road). I ordered medium lamb biryani and kheer, at the end of their lunch rush (2:45). The chef was super heavy handed with spices, large chunks of lamb. I'll have to add some basmati rice to the dish, and cut down those humongous pieces of lamb to make it truly good. The kheer I ordered was gummy and mostly sweet (very little cardamom and only a few slivered almonds -'rather than pistachios. This tells me the milk to rice ratio was off or the kheer had been sitting for a while. Been eating Indian food since the 1980s, so I know what I should be eating. This review is based on my Uber Eats orders. I have now ordered twice, and both times were consistently great! The food is packaged very nicely, as to avoid spills. You could even re-use the containers if you wanted to. Now let's get to the food. Today let newer 20-30 something heavyset lady with glasses know fried fish labeled chicken rice and rice labeled fish, so if they saw on plates uneaten, its quite good but some might be caught off guard. We have loved Guru Palace for a while. This weekend i had my wife's 50th birthday there and it was AMAZING! We scheduled it during their lunch buffet. My wife is vegetarian and had two special requests that aren't usually on the buffet. The staff was great about accommodating, even helped with decorations. They had a ton of delicious options meat, and no meat, all you can eat, all you can drink mango lassi and chai tea! Every day from like 12-4 pm. I Highly Highly Highly recommend! This restaurant is my next door neighbor and wow is it good. Usually I take my food to go but I brought some friends because they are usually pretty picky with Indian food but both of them loved it. Food guru Julia Child used to say "People who love to eat are always the best people." I would agree but I'm a dedicated eater of most things food. What better way to nurture such a passion than by trying out a new restaurant? That's what led me to Guru Palace. I sometimes pass this shopping center while driving and had always wondered how the food was. The restaurant is in the Trader Joe's/Sprouts plaza behind the Wells Fargo. There's a nice little patio for outdoor seating as well as spacious indoor seating. When I got a to go order from here I noticed they also offered a buffet which I'll have to try out sometime. I got the mushroom matar and butter chicken. It was ready at the expected time (15-20 minutes) and packaged in some plastic containers and a Styrofoam container for the rice. All were nestled in a nice custom printed paper shopping bag. There are a few spots right in front of the restaurant reserved for to go orders and you can even opt for curbside service by calling the number on the parking sign. I enjoyed all the dishes. Out of the two, I liked the butter chicken more for its bold and robust flavor. They use tandoori chicken for this dish which is a welcome addition but in our portion of curry there were some bones and cartilage they did not take out so be a little careful if you get this. The mushroom matar was filled with a plentiful amount of mushrooms and peas but didn't have as much of a defined, well rounded flavor as the chicken. The spice level on both was spot on though. At mild, it wasn't super spicy to make you drink buckets of water but there was just enough spice to let you know it was there. The rice was good as well. It was soft and fluffy. read more

The prices are reasonable. The ambiance is fine for the price point. I read the lower rated reviews and they mostly seem to be about the takeout dining experience. I like this place, especially for their buffet. During covid times, they are not doing self service at the buffet, but it's still open! They're doing their best with sanitation and distance rules, and I feel safe eating here. I've been pre and post covid and the service is as good as ever. I find that it's not as easy to be a vegetarian here as at some other Indian restaurants, but their meat dishes are also delicious, especially the tandoori chicken. I love this place. I've had butter chicken, samosas, mango lassi, bhatura, keema naan, chicken tikka, amongst other things. It's pretty tasty it's important to note it's not very spicy we ordered 8-10 spice levels but it may depend on the dish. But it's flavorful and you can tell it's fresh and good quality. I would definitely recommend. My only qualm is that they combine your rice when you get separate meals. I'd prefer each meal come with their own. First time having Indian food in years and this is the first Indian place I've eaten at in Arizona. They had really good chai, naan bread and butter chicken. I also ordered an appetizer of samosas and they were delicious as well! There's so many things to choose from they have a pretty extensive menu. My family and I went to Guru Palace and it was very tasty. The reason for 3 stars was the lack of service in our first dinner visit and lack of options on the lunch visit. Food: - Dinner was really good. You can select your spice level when you order. The okra was so delicious and would highly recommend that dish. - The lunch buffet had a crock pot of rice, four or five chicken dishes, one lamb dish, and three or four veg options. I'm allergic to chicken so half the buffet was out for me. There was no spice to any of the food presented at lunch, which was disappointing, but the naan and goat were good. Ambiance: - There is so much space it feels almost empty even though there were a good amount of people eating. I had come here several times for lunches with a colleague of mine but I've never stopped in for dinner. So tonight my wife and I decided we wanted some Indian food and I remembered Guru palace. This was a great experience to let me break it down for you: The ambiance: When you walk into a place just after it opens for dinner and you have the wafting smell of curry vindaloo and any other spices and herbs they're cooking with it's always a pleasant experience this was no different and it just smelled wonderful as we sat down. The Service: Another wonderful experience as we were greeted promptly with great attitudes and we're sat quickly and brought appetizers and asked if we wanted drinks. One of the great things about Guru Palace is at their draft beer is only $3.99 or most other places are charging six or seven dollars for a craft or even a domestic beer I had a log Anita's IPAA for 399 and it was a 20 ounce beer this by far is one of the better beer experiences and prices in the East Valley The food: Yet another fantastic experience with Indian food. My wife ordered the lamb curry and I was a little bit jealous because she gave me one taste as I've been eating vegetarian lately and it was just amazing. I have the aluminum which is a vegetarian potato dish done in Indian spices it was also fantastic and it made me sweat behind the ears just a little bit as I asked for a seven out of 10 from a Splice perspective. Lastly but certainly not least was the non-bread we ordered the garlic knot is my wife doesn't like anything too hot even though I like the jalapeño not that they have. The non-was soft but not mushy and it had a great flavor to it a perfect complement to both of our dishes. The Price: Typical Indian or other ethnic food usually runs about 1599 a plate however here at Guru Palace even though she ordered lamb it was only 1299 and my vegetable a little was only eight dollars such a bargain and they had a 15% yelp discount listed on the app that said it expired back in 2013 however they honored it and gave us an extra 15% off the bill this by far was a great experience and we will definitely be back Summary: If you're wanting Indian food and you want to go out to a nice place in Guru Palace is definitely a place to stop in and partake from wonderful food wonderful service wonderful ambience a great night out. read more

Normally I find one or two things I like at an Indian food buffet, and some things I don't so I tried just a little sampling of everything at first to scout out the lay of the land.
