Came here to meet a friend tonight and we both thought the other person decided on this place, but since we already sat down and it was quiet and calm inside, we decided to stay. The food was pretty good here, however, I was severely annoyed with the waitress who wasn't really trying to service her customers but wanted to argue for most of the experience here so hence the two stars. Read on to see why I gave a lower rating than I normally would. Since this place is called Tap N Tikka, they had a nice selection of draft beers and I was impressed with their menu, which was on a digital board. The waitress tried to sell me on an Indian brewed beer (for example, Taj) and I just wasnt in the mood for one. Ive been to India several times and have had some of their beers in country. I asked for the Roses by the Stairs Czech Pale Ale and she didnt know if they had it. So I then said, if you dont have Roses by the Stairs, I'll take a Schoner Tag, which is a wheat style Hefeweizen. She then brought me the Schoner Tag, which was a very good beer. Next, we told her we weren't too hungry and mainly wanted to snack on some items and this is where she was being quite annoying. I mentioned the chaat on their menu and thought maybe these would be small bites as these are considered roadside snacks in India, but then she had to tell me oh no they are big portions, so I am like ok... I then saw kati rolls on the menu and thought we could get these and she says oh they are like big burritos, so then I said, well we could cut them in half and share it, but she seemed to think oh they are too big. OK, so after discussing the appetizer menu and couldnt seem to land on much, we now move onto entrees. She then suggests we share a dish, which we were both fine with. She initially suggested Reshmi chicken and said it had a creamy sauce, so we agreed. So, when we finally order the Reshmi chicken, I also asked for a garlic naan to soak up the sauce with and then waitress says oh its not too saucy. So, at this point, I am like whatever lady, can we just order here as you're not being helpful?? Then, she says oh popular dishes here are chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and also bhuna chicken. She said bhuna chicken was her favorite and better than the other two and had a sauce to it, so we finally agreed on this. When the chicken arrived, it came with rice and also we ordered the garlic naan too. The chicken was very good and flavorful, but I doubt it was bhuna chicken as it was a lot more saucy than how bhuna chicken is normally cooked. Bhuna chicken is normally more dry, so I dont know what this waitress is talking about. Garlic naan was so-so and I have had much better elsewhere and for $4.95 a piece, not worth it. I didnt eat much as I was headed to another meal, but did have a bite of chicken for taste and had one piece of naan. We had leftovers and she brought two take away containers. I asked for another container and she wanted to argue about this too. At this point, I just wanted to get out of here. I was like, lady, can you stop arguing with me? The food here was good, but the service was severely ruined by a waitress that didnt know what she was talking about and kept arguing. I thoroughly did not enjoy this experience. And on my receipt, the order was rung up as Butter Chicken and not Bhuna Chicken. With so much competition now (and so hard to earn a dollar and with skyrocketing inflation) and with plenty of other good Indian restaurants around, needles to say, Tap N Tikka, you lost my business and I wont be coming back, thanks to your rude and not knowledgeable waitress. read more

We went to Tap N Tikka for my birthday dinner, and unfortunately it ended up being a pretty disappointing experience. My wife and I are vegetarian and usually love Indian food, but this time we decided to listen to the server's recommendations instead of sticking with the dishes we already know and love. Big mistake. The timing of the food was really off. The veggie platter came out before the naan and rice. Then the naan came out, but still no rice. Everything felt staggered from the kitchen, and it made it hard to actually enjoy the meal when the components were arriving 10-15 minutes apart. With Indian food especially, timing matters. You want the bread, rice, sauces, and entrees together so the meal actually makes sense. As for the food, there were more misses than hits. The veg samosas were not very good and had an unusual spice flavor that we just didn't enjoy. The paneer fingers were probably the best thing we had, but the dipping sauce that came with them wasn't great. The tandoori veg platter was also underwhelming. The tandoori potatoes were good, but that was about the only standout. Since there was no bread or rice with it at the time, it felt incomplete and awkward to eat. Eventually, we ordered tikka masala sauce separately just to try to salvage the meal. To be fair, the waitstaff was nice and the restaurant itself was clean. I don't want to make it sound like everything was bad. But for a birthday dinner, and especially as people who usually really enjoy Indian food, this just missed the mark for us. Tap N Tikka is a place I've long wanted to try, and I finally took the opportunity to do so. All I can say is, if you love Indian cuisine, don't miss this spot! The restaurant is clean and staff is extremely polite and friendly. They've got quite a comprehensive menu with a lot of traditional favorites, alongside some dishes I've never heard of m, but that piqued my interest. Ultimately, I settled on their garlic naan and chicken vindaloo, both of which were incredible! I love spice, but this dish can get really spicy, so if you're not a big fan of spice I either recommend going very low on their spiciness scale or potentially opting for another dish. We went with medium spice, which was actually pretty spicy, but we love spice so we didn't mind. If you're not a big fan of heat, I'd definitely recommend going with mild. The vibe of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly, but a little slower than we'd like. I know it was busy but the staff seemed like they were running around a lot. I should have written this review after my first visit, but I've been back several times since then. The food here is amazing, so flavorful, rich, and fresh tasting. In my various times coming I've had lamb biryani, two different types of thali, chicken tikka masala, chili paneer, reshmi chicken, desi dal tadka, and of course, mango lassi. Everything is absolute perfection and spice. The staff are all friendly, last night we had Simar who was attentive, funny, and we enjoyed some good banter. Finally a delicious Indian restaurant close to home! We've dined at Tap n Tikka several times, and truly each time is better than the last. On the weekends during dinner rush, you will see that the place is packed! It's a fairly large dining area with optional bar seating. The bar area is such a vibe with the green and gold accents and gorgeous wallpaper running across the back. Every meal we've had, the food is packed with flavor and an aroma that will wow your senses. The portions are fair, I feel a little more on the rice portion would be reasonable. Hubby found this place for us to stop in for a late lunch after a quick car cruise through Tortilla Flat. Place was clean, and it was a little busy but not too much. This place serves authentic India food & a good variety of adult drinks. We orders the Chicken Manchurian, traditional butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. I must say, I absolutely loved that they used dark chicken meat in both the butter chicken and tikka masala, because the chicken was so tender and tasty, not what you'd get if the breast meat was used. Where to begin? We came for a birthday celebration with some friends. When we arrived I asked about getting some desserts put on our bill for a surprise for the birthday person and was assured this could happen and they would be willing to make it happen. And because we couldn't choose, we also got the Tandoori Chicken and we ate two pieces there and brought home the rest for the next day. Out of this world! Wife ordered the Paneer Saag, which was so good and rich. Large chunks of Paneer swimming in the saag sauce. Everything comes with jasmine rice and is served in small dishes for sharing. I tried a bit of the garlic chicken another person ordered but didn't taste anything else because they are spice people and everything they got was medium heat! Whimp I am!! Back to dessert; when it came time I asked our server about it and she brought me the menu so I could choose. No "special" birthday service which was fine, I wish they would have told me in the beginning, but ok...ordered the Gulab Jamun, which was honey balls, served warm in a light honey sauce (two in an order) and we also got the Rose Kulfi, which has pieces of rose in the dough. I'm pretty sure that the photographs I've taken in the video say most everything about the food, but it's also the service and the attention to find detail that make this a very comfortable find. Food took a while but that is because they make it all fresh. I had the butter chicken at a medium spice level and it was soooooooo gooooood! Wow! This place was great! I've been to a few Indian restaurants and this one has stood out the most and the first I know to have a great drink menu and draft beers! There was a table behind us that had this huge plate of something that looked really good, and when we inquired, it was called the amritsari kulcha which is like a naan stuffed with potatoes. As a Punjabi, I've been searching for truly authentic Indian food in Arizona -- and Tap n Tikka is hands-down the best I've found. Their new app itself is fine, but the restaurant behind it has clearly slipped. The biggest issue with the app is the "online platform fee," which is supposedly for things like 24/7 support. That doesn't add up when the fee changes from order to order, and the restaurant isn't even open anything close to 24/7. Prices have also gone up like crazy across the board. Instead of being transparent, they try to soften it with random discounts like 15% off or $5 coupons, but even with those, you're still paying more than before. What really doesn't land is the disconnect between pricing and experience. They're charging like this is a five-star dining spot, but the interior feels thrown together; like someone walked through a TJ Maxx decor aisle and grabbed whatever was on clearance. This used to be one of our go-to spots. Now it just feels overpriced without a clear reason. Save yourself the trouble and go to New India Gate in Chandler. read more

Came in here around 12pm on a Sunday and the place was about half full. Nick our server was a pretty nice guy. Spicyness levels are on the mild side and probably targeted towards the local demographic. We got the 911 spice level for the butter chicken and the spicy for the Lamb Curry. If you are used to the more traditional spice levels, just go full send and get the 911 spice level. I'd say it's about a medium/mild in the realm of southern India spicy levels. The Lamb in the biriyani was a little on the dry side, but overall the seasoning/flavor was good. The chicken and lamb in the Rogan Josh were very tender. Curry flavor was on point. read more

I'm really sad to see the changes that have happened. We've been coming here since the place has opened and we drive nearly 40 minutes out of our way just to come here because of how good we thought it was. We loved the plates and the serving dishes because of the charm we thought they had. Now they use these more American looking serving dishes that are just a huge bummer and look stale. But the reason why we came was because of the flavor, the seasoning was delicious. Now it tastes watered down. Like there is less cumin and a few other spices? Perhaps. Our favorite dish was the gobi Manchurian, we used to come because of how good it used to be. Now even that has lost its flavor. Even the cauliflower that was used today looked sad and watered down. With the prices that have gone up dramatically, the food losing its flavor, and the charm gone from the serving dishes I'm sad to say we won't come back. We were okay paying even double if it was just the same as before. Now you could NOT even pay me to eat here. I want to add that I think their customer service is great, the staff is always friendly, so it has nothing to do with that. Just the changes someone chose to make. Refills were swift, different to-go boxes were selected for each item and promptly delivered to our table, great service! Ambience is great as well. Very comfortable with nice lighting and a bar stand! If all that sounded great, hold on to your rocker grandma, cause the food is to die for! We started with the samosa's. Crispy on the outside, warm and delicious on the inside. You get two sauces with these, the green one is my personal favorite. We followed that up with Chicken 65, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, and garlic cheese Naan. Chicken 65: Crispy, spicy, stunning: Chicken 65 is similar to buffalo wings, but with a major, flavorful twist. Served with veggies as well! Chicken Biryani: A blend of flavorful, spiced rice and chicken, a perfect combo! Chicken Tikka Masala: (served with a white rice) My personal favorite when topping their white rice, the tikka masala is creamy and delicious. Garlic Cheese Naan: Fluffy, warm, cheesy, their naan bread is delightful. Also, when here, do yourself a favor and order a Taj Mahal Lager with your meal, REALLY pairs well! The best Indian food around! We live in Surprise and traveled to Gilbert for this spot and it was well worth it. The food is incredible, the service is outstanding, and the vibes are just right. It's a large, open restaurant with a cozy feel and you can literally feel the warmth from the space, the food, and the servers. We ordered a wide variety of food so we could try different things: chicken manchurian (my favorite appetizer at any Indian restaurant if available), samosas, chicken tikka masala, tandoori shrimp, and garlic naan and garlic cheese naan. I was craving Indian food and remembered seeing this place somewhere so we decided to give it a try. It's a unique restaurant that adds a nice bar atmosphere to Indian food.
