Coney dogs and hand cut fries.
    Joseph R.

Great place for an authentic Detroit Coney dog. Being a Michigander we think we know a few things about Coney dogs. Met the owner who came out to greet his customers and chat. Nice touch I might add. The Dog was awesome had a little snap to it as it should and the coney sauce was pretty epic. My only hit came in the bun as to why it didn't get 5 stars. Bun was over steamed as it was somewhat hard when it came out. The hand cut fries were some of the best I can remember and was evident when the basket was empty. Nice place to watch a game and have some good authentic Detroit food. We will be back for a loose burger. Thanks

The service was fantastic. The owner checked in multiple times and the server was awesome. The food was very tasty, but the chili I'll admit was a bit bland. The sliders are almost the size of a normal burger, so we had quite a bit of food. Fried zucchini was perfect, and the spicy dip was even better. Only concern is that the food is a bit pricey, as $15 for sliders (no side included) is kinda high. Other than that, I'll definitely return.

Pretty cute spot with great buffalo chicken fry's. Great pretzel bite and cheese. Awesome service and friendly staff very attentive. Everyone seems to work really well together as a team. Very clean place would recommend on a lovely weekend day. They have a great outside place for kids to run around.

I tend to find new places to eat by watching videos on Instagram, and I had been wanting to try this spot for a while since I saw multiple people claiming they have the best burgers around. We ordered a burger and two appetizers -- pretzels with cheese and mozzarella sticks. Where do I start? The pretzels and cheese tasted like they were microwaved, and for a walk-in dine-in restaurant, serving the cheese in a tiny plastic sauce cup was off-putting. The cheese was hot, the cup was starting to melt, and I was worried about potentially consuming some of the melting plastic. The mozzarella sticks seemed store-bought and simply tossed in the deep fryer, rather than handmade. I was most excited for the burger because the Instagram videos made it look dripping with sauce and amazing. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming -- there was hardly any sauce. I asked for a little extra, and unbeknownst to me, they charged an additional dollar for a tiny amount of sauce, which felt disappointing since the burger is advertised as "saucy and drippy." Overall, this experience did not live up to the hype.

This little spot is legit, they have great food, great beer, and really great service. Seems like a clean place and the patio is pretty big! The servers were super sweet and bartender was really chill and greeted us as soon as we walked in. Our servers (I can't remember names I'm sorry!) were super helpful in what we should order and even gave recommendations. I got the classic cheeseburger sliders and my boyfriend got the cowboy sliders. They were both really yummy, we also shared some pretzel bites as an appetizer which was good. The food came out very quick too! Overall a good experience and can't wait to come back!

I casually stopped by here on a Sunday evening and they were decently busy. I sat myself at the bar. The seats were surprisingly really squishy and made me feel like a little kid, but after a beer or two, I didn't care anymore. I ordered a beer I had never heard of and when I asked if it was orange flavor, the server seemed unsure but didn't offer to let me test it. Thankfully it was delicious! After 1 beer, I ordered some pretzel bites from the appetizer menu and it probably took 15 minutes for them to come out. They were pretty toasted and sitting in what seemed like a lot of butter. They were okay, nothing I was wild about and would order again. Everyone was super friendly and the music wasn't too loud or too quiet. It was just what I needed. Next time I will try something different. Overall, it was a great experience.

Hubby & I had dinner here tonight. We were both super excited to try this place. One of my friends met us here. We arrived a little before 5:00 & it was already pretty busy. You wait to be seated & have a server. We were seated right away. It was hot in the restaurant. It took awhile for our server to come to the table. It wasn't his fault because he was also the bartender & had several tables. It took awhile to get our drinks, food & check. We ordered potato skins. Hubby ordered the coney dog with chilies & onion rings. I ordered the Little Mac & fries. My friend ordered the boneless wings with hot honey sauce & loaded tater tots. Hubby had his favorite beer with lime. I had Tito's & cranberry juice. My friend had a coke. The beer & cocktail were good. They pour a good cocktail. That's where the good stopped. The potato skins were really small & I wasn't a fan of the nacho cheese on them. They we're not crispy at all. The coney dog was small & hubby said the coney sauce had no flavor. The onion rings were okay, but nothing special. The little Mac was small. I thought it would be the size of a regular Big Mac , but just with 2 patties instead of 4. It was okay, but nothing special. My fries were soggy. The boneless wings & loaded tots were okay. We all have no reason to go back. The owner needs to hire a bartender & not have the server making drinks. It was not a good customer experience. Turn the A/C up. It's hotter than hell right now & no one wants to be sweating while eating dinner. Horrible service, hot restaurant & okay food. No thank you! I took pictures of what was left because we were all starving before when we finally got our food. We also had to let our server know when he brought the food that we were missing the pot skins. If I would have known how small & not good they would be, I would have had him keep them.

Coney Dog: A coney dog is a hot dog topped with chili, onions, and mustard, with the chili often described as a "coney sauce." Detroit Coney Grill is on a roll and it's not just the dog. We popped in on a Sunday after running some errands. I got a Southwest Coney, a $7 Mexican Mule Cinco de Mayo drink special, and shared an appetizer of fried zucchini. Everything was tasty and good. The Mexican Mule went down smooth as all weekend boozy bevs do. The Southwest Coney had chili, cheddar, hatch chile, onion, and mustard, Anytime hatch chile is offered, I got to get it. As for fried zucchini, superb! I wish I had a Mule and some fried zucchini right now. Detroit Coney Grill is a great addition to this community. There's ample seating, plenty of televisions that play sports, and the bartenders are charming. I will definitely think about this place if I feel like watching sports with some friends without having to host.

Been wanting to try this place after hearing and seeing a lot of positive experiences. Started off with the mozzarella sticks during happy hour and they're one of the best I've had. Non greasy, crunchy and flavorful breading. Not pictured because we ate them so fast. The coney dogs were okay. The chilli tasted a bit bland and buns almost stale. The sun devil melt was good, I expected a white-bread sandwich style patty melt but it's just a normal hamburger bun inverted. Fries were okay, they looked good but mostly soggy/soft. Overall the mozzarella sticks were great. Service was fine but maybe I went on an off day.

This place had recently opened and had been wanting to try. It was formerly Mr Zekes Restaurant. Came in, in the afternoon around 1:30 PM on Saturday. They weren't too busy, but seemed to be finishing up with a few parties that were there after a baseball tournament. Two servers staffed and what looked to be two to three kitchen employees working in the back. We are greeted fairly quickly by the female server who told us our server would be right with us. That took some time, so she got our drink orders in. Eventually, the male server came to take our order. After reviewing the menu, we opted to go with their boneless wings (a dozen) instead of their traditional at $21.96 which was way too pricey in our opinion. We also ordered the house cut fries. Sauce we chose for the wings was honey hot with a side of their Nashville (to try). The wings were mediocre at best. No side veggies included. The chicken still tasted of the freezer flavor even through the fry stage and a few were either over done or re-fried (tuff). The honey hot was average & the Nashville by no means was that a Nashville style sauce. It was more like a peppery steak sauce, yet unusually unique- but definitely not a sauce for chicken. Fries were just ok. Many tv's surround the space as a sports bar atmosphere. Enjoyed catching a basketball game while dining. That said; what we didn't care for was the strong smell of marijuana. We caught drift of it after one of the male (back staffed) employees from the kitchen came back in from going out front and walking back to the kitchen. Just a few seconds after that, he came walking directly behind us on his way to use the restroom. It was evident & overwhelming. We also took note at his unkept appearance as well, which really made for a more negative experience. Our server seemed somewhat shy and somewhat slow. Pleasant when we tried to engage with him, but just was not on top of things overall. The female server seemed to be more interested in her phone on the floor than the half eaten hamburgers that remained near us to the inside of the bar from the time we arrived until just before we left. Definitely a slow & mellow vibe here- literally! Will not be a place we will return which is kinda a bummer cause their burger options looked pretty good. My boys have been to their location (years ago) in Tempe and said they're decent! May have to try them to see if it's any better, but this location we will for sure pass on in the future.

I recently saw a Facebook ad for this restaurant and being from Michigan and working downtown Detroit for many years I asked my wife to join me Friday and try a dinner there. We walked in and greeted set down and waitress took our drink order. Shortly after the owner walked through the restaurant asking tables if everything was satisfactory. I thought, this is nice! Attentive staff nice atmosphere. We browsed the menu and decided on our selection. My wife loves fried pickles and they were on the menu so that would be the appetizer. We chatted, we finished our drink and I paused and was like, it's been 20 to 30 minutes and no waitress to take our food order or even to offer another drink! Tried to get some attention from the waitress but not found.. finally I got the bus boy (I think) he was cleaning the table next to us and I asked if he could get our check as my wife and I decided if it takes longer than 20 minutes to order we were not going to wait another 20 minutes to get food. The waitress showed up and was like so sorry we are busy! Busy? There was only 6 tables of 4 people each! It's not a huge place and less than a third of capacity full. We informed her we were unhappy and would like to pay our bill and call it quits for this restaurant. She gave us $0.50 off our 2 $6.50 draft beers and we left. Another thing I would like to mention was there was a large black GMC Denali pickup parked in the first parking spot by the door with window stickers saying Detroit Bar and Grill. My wife says if that's the owners truck it's a real dick move to take the prime parking spot over customers. I know when I worked at public serving places we were always told as employees park in the back, prime parking is for customers. I would like to try their food one day just not too excited anytime soon. There are so many great restaurants in Chandler you really have to have a great place to make it here. I hope they get their Sh-t together soon else will be just another lost opportunity.

The environment just feels good. Our waitress was awesome, attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing without hovering. That kind of service makes all the difference and she nailed it. Now the food. Let me start with the real star of the show, the Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls. Golden, perfectly crispy panko crust on the outside, and when you bite in? Creamy mashed potato loaded with gooey melted cheese that literally stretches. Paired with that smooth cheese dipping sauce, these are dangerously addictive. I'd order a double next time without hesitation. The wings were incredible, and yes, I taste tested both the Garlic Parmesan AND the BBQ. The Garlic Parm had that rich, savory coating with a beautiful caramelized char. The BBQ brought a sweet, smoky glaze that had me licking my fingers. Both were meaty, juicy, and fall-off-the-bone tender. Honestly couldn't pick a favorite, you need both. I also grabbed a burger on a pretzel bun with bacon and sweet potato fries, stacked high, messy in the best way, and the pretzel bun held up like a champ. The Hub has that classic neighborhood grill vibe with quality that punches above its weight. Delicious food, generous portions, great service, and a relaxing spot to kick back.
