We came to this new Indian village food spot and was excited to try some chaat. There aren't many spots in the valley that specializes in chaat. We ordered 3 different types and overall they were all really good. The inside is really huge with lots of seats and it's nice and bright inside. The server was also nice and gave us recommendations so overall a pleasant experience.

If you're craving bold flavors, shareable portions, and that true street food energy, Chaat Express is definitely worth the visit! The vibe is casual, warm, and welcoming. It's perfect for grabbing a quick bite or hanging out with friends. The staff and service were fantastic! They are clearly passionate about sharing Punjabi food culture, which made my friends' and I's experience feel even more personal. My favorites were the chicken masala and papdi chaat! I'm so excited to come back!

All together with garlic naan. So a crap ton of food.

This place is seriously a hidden gem. I tried the tandoori wings and the chicken masala and both absolutely delivered. The tandoori wings were packed with flavor. Smoky, juicy, and perfectly spiced without being overwhelming. You could taste that authentic tandoori seasoning all the way through, not just on the surface. The chicken masala was just as impressive. Rich, creamy, and full of depth with tender chicken that soaked up the sauce perfectly. It had that comforting, bold flavor you want from Indian food. Not greasy, not bland. Just straight up delicious. I also had the mango kulfi and I'm not much of a sweets guy but man it was perfect. Not too sweet, super smooth, and really refreshing after the meal. It was the perfect way to finish everything off. Everything tasted fresh and clearly made with care. If you're into Indian food or just want something different that actually hits, this spot is 100 percent worth checking out. One of those places you're glad you found.

Hidden gem in Chandler! I've been to many Indian restaurants in the valley and Chaat Express makes the top of the list. The server and chef here are so welcoming and attentive. You can really taste how fresh the ingredients are as everything is made-to-order. The tandoori chicken was super tender, perfectly seasoned and well balanced. They also have wraps that make an excellent lunch option. Also the tamarind and mint chutney really complements the dishes.

We were first served a complimentary drink that everyone had on their table called buttermilk which was made with yogurt. We ordered the Chettinadu Mushroom Curry: Mushrooms cooked in a deeply aromatic Chettinad spice blend with cracked pepper. The sauce was delicious and it's a dairy free and vegan dish. The serving dishes were pretty. As we were finishing up the restaurant was getting fuller and it was fun to see everyone getting their thali meals. With us being the only non-indian people at the restaurant, It felt like a cultural experience in many ways that we really enjoyed. I would love to come back here for the vegetarian Thali. I took a photo of the day's changing vegetarian thalli item that a staff marked with what has dairy and what doesn't. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

We got the butter chicken, some naan, and a dosa to share, and were blown away at the quality of each dish, as well as the different sauces and lentil soup that the dishes came with. The food was also presented beautifully! We left feeling very full with a bunch of leftovers to spare, which was great. The service was amazing - we had some questions about the food and our server gave us great answers + recommendations! We were seated quickly and the greeting we got when we came in (from I think the owner?) was very personable and welcoming. The ambiance was very lowkey and chill, and so we were surprised with how beautifully our food was presented! Will definitely be back here, my husband noted that he was eager to check out the lunch buffet.

So when I say this place is the best, that means something. After 8 years of exploring Indian restaurants all across the Valley -- Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa -- Flavors of India consistently stands out above the rest. As a vegetarian, bold and complex flavors are everything to me. Without meat, you really need a kitchen that knows how to layer spices and build depth, and this place delivers every single time. The food is fresh, the flavors are rich and satisfying, the customer service is warm and attentive, and the prices are absolutely fair for the quality you're getting. This is my go-to, and it should be yours too. Hands down the best Indian food in the East Valley. I love the ambience. They're very welcoming and always clean.

I ordered the Masala Dosa and it's a new item for me. Masala dosa is a popular South Indian dish consisting of a crispy, savory crepe (dosa) made from fermented rice and lentil batter, which is stuffed with a flavorful spiced potato and onion filling. It was served hot with complementary side dishes like sambar (a lentil-based vegetable stew) and two chutneys, one of which was a fragrant coconut chutney. I had a fun time and a delicious lunch with my spin class crew. Arguably, we had the best legs in this spacious, clean eatery. I am DEFINITELY coming back to get more dosa.

The sauce was luxurious without being heavy, the cheese was indulgent, and the naan was perfect for scooping up every last bit. Highly recommend if you want flavor and a meal that makes you pause mid-bite like, "Hold my gym bag, bro."

We'd actually sought out a different Indian restaurant first, but it looked kind of shady--really dark on the inside and just didn't feel right. I was already feeling perplexed because I'd tried calling them to see if they could do a vegan and gluten-free meal, but their answering machine said they wouldn't even answer over the weekend! I wasn't feeling confident at all. So, we headed over to India's Flame in Tempe instead after seeing they had really good reviews. It wasn't far from our original pick, and I'm so glad we got in the car and went. The atmosphere was night and day--nice, bright, and welcoming. The staff was incredibly helpful and super polite; we didn't even have to worry about running out of water. Our meals arrived right on time and everything was amazing. The Food: * I had the Daal and my friend ordered the Chana Masala. * We were both so happy that we could customize the spice level. My friend likes her food super spicy (it's usually hard for her to find a place that actually makes it hot enough), but they totally hit the spot for her. * Her spice level is way higher than mine so I couldn't even taste hers, but she was delighted! It turned out to be a great experience. We will definitely go back again when we're back in Tempe!
