4.5*: Good place to try Indian street food, particularly from the western state of Gujarat. I tried the North Indian delicacy- Chholae (chickpea) Bhature (puffed fried bread). The taste was good, clearly cooked Gujarati style as the taste of North Indian preparation for this dish is different, particularly the Chholae. Typically Indian restaurant with nice decor from Gujarat & bollywood songs playing on the TV. They do the Thaali that I would like to try on a weekend! High points for their service, shout-out to Sam, for being very attentive and professional. Would recommend for trying food that's different than what people typically eat at Indian restaurant, which is mostly North Indian. Enjoy!

This place is incredible. We drove all the way from Scottsdale to try this place and it didn't disappoint. You order at the counter and sit and the seating area was very clean. They have a water machine which is a nice touch so if you want warm or cold water you can choose. We ordered the Bahubali Thali and it was amazing. Definitely worth the price I shared with my family of 3 and we were all very full and satisfied.

Glad to find a vegetarian eatery bringing the flavors of the west India in the valley. Five stars for the food but 3.5 stars for the waiting time which was ridiculous, was almost going to miss a flight. Highly recommend Gujarati thali. Everything in the thali was tasty: 2 sabjis, poori, dhokla, shrikhand etc., except the gujarati kadhi which was way too sweet for our taste. Batata vada was alright and papdi chat was good. They also have very good jalebis and shrikhand. Did not like the north indian curries + roti/naan combo as much.

Excellent homemade Gujrathi food! All vegetarian/vegan! Always fresh and authentic taste! They also have Punjabi thali and Dal Baati! Outstanding Indian chaat as well! Great place for lunch / dinner for vegetarians and vegans

We were first served a complimentary drink that everyone had on their table called buttermilk which was made with yogurt. We ordered the Chettinadu Mushroom Curry: Mushrooms cooked in a deeply aromatic Chettinad spice blend with cracked pepper. The sauce was delicious and it's a dairy free and vegan dish. The serving dishes were pretty. As we were finishing up the restaurant was getting fuller and it was fun to see everyone getting their thali meals. With us being the only non-indian people at the restaurant, It felt like a cultural experience in many ways that we really enjoyed. I would love to come back here for the vegetarian Thali. I took a photo of the day's changing vegetarian thalli item that a staff marked with what has dairy and what doesn't. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

We got the butter chicken, some naan, and a dosa to share, and were blown away at the quality of each dish, as well as the different sauces and lentil soup that the dishes came with. The food was also presented beautifully! We left feeling very full with a bunch of leftovers to spare, which was great. The service was amazing - we had some questions about the food and our server gave us great answers + recommendations! We were seated quickly and the greeting we got when we came in (from I think the owner?) was very personable and welcoming. The ambiance was very lowkey and chill, and so we were surprised with how beautifully our food was presented! Will definitely be back here, my husband noted that he was eager to check out the lunch buffet.

Tempe housed my go to Indian buffet on Rural and university for over 20 years and it closed. The other night picking up a marketplace find I passed this restaurant. I live in central Phoenix and pulled up my favorite app on the way home Yelp popped the restaurant in the app great reviews. Long work day Wednesday so stopped for dinner mind blown. Yup I'll be back for lunch. Saturday head for Lunch buffet the place is packed and the food was amazing. Nothing from the buffet was bad. Again if you see the ethnic culture eating there usually a good sign your taste buds are about to get very happy with your choice. My new Indian food spot & yes I drive 20 minutes to get here. We'd actually sought out a different Indian restaurant first, but it looked kind of shady--really dark on the inside and just didn't feel right. I was already feeling perplexed because I'd tried calling them to see if they could do a vegan and gluten-free meal, but their answering machine said they wouldn't even answer over the weekend! I wasn't feeling confident at all. So, we headed over to India's Flame in Tempe instead after seeing they had really good reviews. It wasn't far from our original pick, and I'm so glad we got in the car and went. The atmosphere was night and day--nice, bright, and welcoming. The staff was incredibly helpful and super polite; we didn't even have to worry about running out of water. Our meals arrived right on time and everything was amazing. The Food: * I had the Daal and my friend ordered the Chana Masala. * We were both so happy that we could customize the spice level. My friend likes her food super spicy (it's usually hard for her to find a place that actually makes it hot enough), but they totally hit the spot for her. * Her spice level is way higher than mine so I couldn't even taste hers, but she was delighted! It turned out to be a great experience. We will definitely go back again when we're back in Tempe!

The shades are always down, so when i walked in i was…read moresurprised at the more upscale vibe and the nice apparel of the host. what should have tipped me off initially was how amazing it smelled in the restaurant. It smelled more like a spa than a restaurant. Usually when you go into an Indian restaurant, you smell the spices and expect to come home with your clothes smelling like the restaurant. we first ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan and saffron rice. the naan was good and the butter chicken was not bad, though a bit lacking in flavor. the safron rice, i did not like. had an odd taste. maybe its my palette, but i prefer basmati rice. the portion size was really small, even though i was told it was shareable. so we ordered the tandoori chicken. the chicken came out way too quickly. it was not red. i'm skeptical it was even cooked in a tandoor. i ordered it spicy, but it had absolutely zero flavor at all. bland, dry. they bring it out in a presentable tray with dipping sauces, which were good and needed, but i was highly disappointed in this dish. it's usually one of my favorites. we ordered the chai, and were warned its not traditional, but teabags. they brought it out and the tags said English Breakfast on them. they didn't even go to world market down the street to get the good stuff. it was still pretty flavorful though. the mango lassi was good too. the bathrooms were nice, the restaurant is beautiful and there's a huge bar which again made me skepitcal. the 3.5 star rule seems to apply here as this restaurant is more catered towards the American crowd and palette. the servers were fantastic and friendly and again i'm impressed with the decor. it felt more like a Scottsdale retaurant, but again lacking that flavor that you would expect. and it's not cheap either. in the future i will visit other restaurants that are more traditional.

(Lots of take out tho!) Very clean (incl bathroom) and organized. Loved the music and the tv they had on with Bollywood. We were greeted right away and checked on frequently. He was very patient with us and answered our questions kindly The butter naan was so fresh and soft, the plain dosa was just as expected plus yummy sauces. The tandoori chicken was soooo flavorful and juicy! I loved the cabbage on bottom, but grab it quick because it will get burnt! (See video!) we got the kadai chicken medium spice and we overestimated ourselves haha tasty but too spicy for us (We have lower tolerances to spice) so we will go with mild next time, chicken still flavorful and tender. To help with the spice my bf got a mango lassi, worked like a charm, it was well balanced, tasted fresh, and not too sweet. Ps there's plenty of vege options We absolutely cannot wait to come back and i recommend you make this your next stop, worth the drive!

Our server last night was so friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu! He was able to answer all questions and made a great suggestion in my entrée. It was a Saturday evening, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but my friend and I were able to be set immediately once we arrived around 8 or 9 PM. We ordered the fried chicken small plate and the green pea samosas. The green sauce that comes with the samosas is fantastic, soo flavorful and yummy! I was worried about not liking the samosas because I have a strong dislike for peas, but they were honestly so good, and with the sauce, no complaints. The fried chicken was also pretty good and came with his own green sauce as well. This sauce had a creamier texture to it and was good, but not as good as the other sauce. My friend ordered the butter chicken entrée and I was shocked to find that at $28, it did not include rice. As a matter of fact, a side of rice was $6 to add. At the price you're paying, I feel the least they could do is add the tiny bit of rice they give you for $6. Anyway, upon the server's suggestion, I ordered the fish curry. I was a little nervous as I tend to avoid ordering fish at restaurants, but it was good and I was pleasantly surprised! I initially thought this portion was small, but honestly upon eating it it's probably a decent portion for the meal you're getting. The $33 price tag is a bit up there, but I'm also not knowledgeable about the cost of Seabass and what not. Lastly, I did order the cheesecake dessert , and found it wasn't for me. I expected more flavor from the donuts baked with it as well as a caramel drizzle, but didn't seem to get that. It really just tasted like plain cheesecake to me, which is not my favorite. My friend liked it though! If you are a cheesecake lover, you'll probably love the desert.
