    Butter Naan
    Gary L.

We finally made it here after months of asking ourselves what new restaurant we wanted to try, Passage to India was always on the list but when it came time, we would forget! We were warmly greeted immediately and the wonderful smells of Curry and the other spices were a great welcome. I had the Tiki Masala and my wife had the Vegetable Korma. The lamb in my Masala was perfectly cooked and tender, and flavor was wonderful. My wife's Korma was loaded with veggies and flavorful as well. We also had the Butter Naan and Garlic Naan. The servings were generous so we're looking forward to the leftovers and returning soon.

Surprisingly empty parking lot and restaurant. No lunch buffet, so we ordered off the menu. I had the lamb vindaloo and my wife had the chicken korma. Both were served quickly with garlic naan, rice, and a mango lassie. All were flavorful and well seasoned. Overall good food, good service, comfortable seating, and good prices. Not great, but definitely good.

    Gulan Jamun! So delicious

While looking at Google maps to get my bearings...part of my "process" when I'm not familiar with an area... I saw "Passage to India" and after looking over their menu of unique appetizers and mains...I was like yup! That what I want for dinner. First time in my life I've ever heard of "Kati Roll" let alone had one. My protein of choice was egg(scrambled) and found it super delicious! It reminded me of a "hand roll" that one could get at a sushi bar. The tortilla like wrap had a lot of firmness as well as some crispiness in every bite. For my main, I order the "Chapala" with fish (cat fish ). The fish was in a kind of spicy curry sauce which I thought was well season and just the right amount of spiciness for me. It comes with plain rice and over all vet satisfying. I also order some naan and used it with the rice to take up all that delicious curry style sauce. Lastly, I had Gulan Jamun, my very favorite among Indian desserts. Over all a flavorful, delicious and satisfying dinner. I would certainly come back as they have several dishes and preparations that I've never had. On final note, I was surprised that I was the only person in the dining area...and that this awesome restaurant wasn't more supported by the community. They do "take out" which kept my server busy but still food here deserves more attention and in person attendance...I hope those who like Indian food will come here and enjoy what they offer.

    Chicken Tikka

This place is legit... came here with my wife on a Friday night. It's a big place and there wasn't barely anyone there, felt odd. Despite this I ordered the chicken tikka masala, garlic and paneer naan, and it was the best I've ever had. I write this very sad, because I have been looking at this place for over a year and had no idea what I've been missing. So many spices and flavors I've been missing at other Indian cuisines, I can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

Came here for dinner with some friends last night. The restaurant itself is so cute, I love the vibe inside. Service was great! Now for the star of the show, the food! I had the Paneer Tika Massala, with rice and garlic Naan. All so delicious! The sauce was so flavorful and creamy. I have no complaints about Passage to India. Check them out!

We were first served a complimentary drink that everyone had on their table called buttermilk which was made with yogurt. We ordered the Chettinadu Mushroom Curry: Mushrooms cooked in a deeply aromatic Chettinad spice blend with cracked pepper. The sauce was delicious and it's a dairy free and vegan dish. The serving dishes were pretty. As we were finishing up the restaurant was getting fuller and it was fun to see everyone getting their thali meals. With us being the only non-indian people at the restaurant, It felt like a cultural experience in many ways that we really enjoyed. I would love to come back here for the vegetarian Thali. I took a photo of the day's changing vegetarian thalli item that a staff marked with what has dairy and what doesn't. Just be careful -- the heat builds up slowly, so if you're not used to spicy food, go lower on the scale! Our server was funny, knowledgeable, and gave fantastic recommendations. There's also plenty of free parking, which is always a plus. The restaurant filled out pretty quickly, with a lot of local regulars that conversed in the buffet line and remarked about how there wasn't as much in the trace as they would expect.I guess cause we had already had it through. The buffet was a bit limited. I hoped Butter Chicken would be there, but no. The choices were of a good variety, not as flavorful as I would like and not as spicy, which is what I would expect. THE BEST chaat I've had in the states…read more I have not had a single dish here that I have not been absolutely blown away by. We started coming here after our previous Indian spot closed down (RIP buzzing cuisine) and I cannot overstate how good this food was. The service was incredibly fast and the staff are very kind, and it's actually a pretty large place seating-wise. As others have said, I also asked for recommendations and the advice I got was super solid (mostly trying to gauge their spice level). It's $7 for a samosa chaat. In this economy. I have gone there on my lunch break to just grab a cheap bite 3+ times at this point and we have had 3 dinners from here as well. Aside from the pricing, the food itself takes risks that pay off extremely well. I often find myself going to Indian spots in AZ and feeling like the flavors have been muted or toned down to be more palatable and enjoyable for all audiences. Chaat Express does not cater to the unseasoned tongue and everything you get here is bursting with amazing, authentic combinations of herbs and spices. The flavors are just indescribably good. When BOTH of a samosa's chutney sauces are delicious (and especially when the red sauce is not overly-sweet), you know you are in for a treat. Their curries are made with the same ideology: bold, flavor-forward, and delicious. In addition, their meats are always bafflingly tender. Whether you get their goat or chicken, it will be cooked perfectly. If you're not a meat-eater, their paneer is also great and the texture is exactly what you would want to expect. I've also had their lassi, rice, and naan. I really like the way they do their naan. It's buttery but not overly-buttered, and always very fresh. Their mango lassi is also perfectly sweet with just enough of a hint of that tanginess that it stands out on its own. And again, for $4 you cannot beat that value. TLDR: this place NEEDS to do well or I will lose my mind. please come here. i am begging you to not let this place flop
