I really had my heart set on this being the perfect find. While the diner is cute and decorated with some cool old sports stuff and photos the service was just just okay. It took forever to get our drinks and then another good 10 minutes for the waitress to finally came back to take our order. She was nice, not talkative at all. The food was priced well but nothing to write home about as far as amazing food. In need of a new brunch place and we stumbled upon FLIPPY's. It is diner quality food and price suites. The staff is so cute and gracious toward guests. The environment of the diner is so festive, there is nothing but GIANTS memorabilia on the walls, a little of Dodgers by the bathroom and a huge nice painting of men fishing lol. Like most others who have written a review, the place is easy to find. Parking on the lot only has 4 spots, but as someone else mentioned, there is plenty of street parking on both sides of the property. This place has been here for a long time, about 32 years from reading the menu, and the interior shows it. The interior looks like it was when it opened with the addition of many sports items on the walls and ceiling. It looks like they are big 49ers fans by the number of sports items 49er related. Most of the seating is booth seating. There are only a few tables that have chairs, so if you are of the larger size, it may be a little cramped for comfortable seating at a booth. Went there on a Wednesday for lunch. The place was pretty empty, only about 4 other tables of customers were there. When I first walked in, I was greeted by one of the waitresses, who said to sit anywhere I liked. The other waitress asked if I wanted something to drink, which was only water. About 5 minutes later, my other 2 guests arrived and joined me. Shortly after they were seated, the waitress asked what they would like to have to drink. (one coffee, one water) After deciding what we wanted to eat, we had to flag the waitress down to get her attention to take our order. An inquiry was made about the "Italian Hot Smokey". The description said, "Italian Sausage...". The question was asked if it was a 'hot link' type or an Italian (not-hot) sausage, since the title said "hot" but the description did not. Was told it was just regular Italian Sausage, not hot link and not hot at all. It came with your choice of a side which I ordered a salad with 1000 Island dressing with my Italian Sausage. My other guests ordered a Cheese Omelette with Pancakes; and Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. The order came and the food looked good. Presentation was good, and looked enticing. My other guests liked their order and it was prepared as they requested. My order on the other hand....it was more of a hot link than an Italian Sausage. Not the end of the world but not what I was expecting. I would say it was more of mild link, with some 'pepper seeds' in it. The 'salad' was basically a bowl of lettuce with a few onion slivers, with the dressing in a plastic cup. Once the food was dropped off, the wait staff did not return to the table to see if the beverages were/needed refilling and/or if everything was okay. The food was tasty, and actually better than expected. The wait staff was not very attentive, as they had to be flagged down to fill the coffee cup 2 times. Never filled the empty water glasses. All and all a fair experience. The sign outside says "Breakfast*Lunch*Dinner", but really their hours are 6am to 2pm (7am on weekends) and closed Mondays. Not sure how many people eat dinner before 2pm. Not saying it doesn't happen, just odd that signage says Dinner but only open until 2pm. Maybe when they first opened they were open later for dinner.. read more

This place is adorable! You can tell by the memorabilia that it has a rich history. Easy access off of 80 makes it a great stop for the road trippers, but it's also filed with locals. This is my first time at this restaurant and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed of the food. The reason I gave the threes stars is because my bacon was room temperature. It's seems their bacon precook and it kind of turned me off. My wife and I waited a bit, no too long and deserve fresh hot bacon. I guess they assume that everyone that walks to their door is a regular. I came in and waited to be seated while 2 workers just looked at me walked by. I assumed they were busy so I waited a few minutes. After making eye contact several times with no response, I asked if I just sit anywhere or continue waiting to be seated. They pointed to a table and that was it. If coming here, don't expect great service since the workers just look at you expecting you to know their protocol. Making eye contact or saying "Hello, how can we help you?" is not something they do. Just walk in, sit wherever you like, grab your menu at the side of the table and be ready to order as soon as they decide to acknowledge you. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but I am forced to in this case. I ordered an omelette with crispy hashbrowns and a side of biscuit (I got one tiny biscuit) and gravy. I was told I could not have avocado on my omelette because they do not carry avocado in that restaurant. What kind of California breakfast restaurant does NOT "carry" avocado??? They weren't just out of it, they don't use it. The omelette was OK. The gravy was OK. One step up from a greasy spoon. Small diner with only 1 or 2 servers. Our food took a LONG time to get to us. Other people who arrived after us received their food before us. We had to go to our server and ask for syrup to go with the French toast, and our server wasn't very attentive to our coffee and tea. I was charged for a 3-egg omelette even though I only got 2 eggs. This is a cute little cafe in the city of Rodeo that serves breakfast and lunch. I've been here several times and like it every single time. The place is a bit on the smaller side but it still gets busy especially on the weekends. I haven't been here for lunch only for breakfast and their breakfast items are always really good and freshly made. The decor inside reminds me of a vintage place back in the day so it could use an upgrade in that area. Customer service here is pretty good and they always have a smile on there face. First time here. Just had the French toast breakfast (2 slices cut in half), with 2 over medium eggs and 4 sausages. Great sizeable and filling breakfast. This place is a joke and the yelp reviews are completely wrong.. Came here for breakfast and had a waffle for $7.50, it was literally about 6 inches around and 1/4 of an inch wide.. Tasted worse than bis quick.. Also had the chefs omelette for 9.50, it came out with old rotten cheese.. Ewe, so gross... Locals say this place is a great place, but I'm starting to think the locals don't have taste buds... I will not be back.. Do not eat here unless you want cheap, crappy food!! Gross!!! read more

Came in and this place's setup was so cool. It's a cute small diner. Too bad we didn't get to even eat because I bet the food was good. As my fiancé , my daughter and I walked in the door. We seated ourselves and a couple came after us. Well turns out the server decided to help them first. My family was just very hungry and it's not new to us that an older sophisticated-looking couple comes in AFTER us and is helped BEFORE us. But it wasn't just that, we were waiting for a while and nobody even greeted us or said someone would be with us. It's too bad because the reviews look great.! I USED to really like this place and have been going there for years. Went today, yeah Mother's Day was as busy as expected and I expected to wait for food. What I did not expect was a young waitress who thought it was appropriate to argue with a customer about what they had ordered. I won't bore you with all of the details, but when she brought my food, I told her I ordered the waffle, she said, "No you didn't, you ordered the French Toast." I was super hungry and I did not feel like waiting anymore, so I ate the French Toast. Later when I had a calm discussion with the waitress about why she was not getting a tip, and she argued with me some more. I won't go there again.
