I'm a sucker for diners lost in time, and this one is a throwback to the 70's at least. Food is good solid diner grub, not spectacular, but certainly fits the bill on occasion. When I arrived a waitress told me to take a seat. I waited for a while before even being acknowledged. I was seated to where I can see the cook and he did not wash his hands once the entire time I was there. He also handled raw bacon and then grabbed some cooked bacon and placed it on one of the plates. When I noticed, I asked the waitress to hold my ticket because with what I witnessed I no longer wanted to eat their food. She was not very apoliogetic and told me they have been there for 20 years and he always does that and they passed? She seemed irritated that I was not happy with the service (I even paid for my beverages), so I am assuming that was my bacon he handled. Poor service. Will never go here again and will encourage my friends to stay far away. read more

One of the best breakfast / lunch spots in the area. They prepare the food with love. And the services is awesome. You are greeted as soon as you walk in the door. It is small but homey. Had breakfast there this morning. The owner, Vicky, was very nice and welcoming. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. It had the best gravy on Chicken Friend Steak that I Have ever had. Big chunks of sausage and thick gravy. The Chicken Friend Steak itself was perfect. Vicky was very attentive checking in my coffee. The place was very clean and homey. Good place for a down home low key breakfast. I recommend you go as early as you can when they open. They get really busy beginning at 8:00 AM and the service really begins to suffer. The Servers are very nice and do the best they can, but they begin to drown, due to understaffing at around 8:00 - 8:30 AM. read more

All of the old timers are at the bar eating their grub and reading the paper or talking local, current events. Not really sure how a place like this gets 4 stars. It's basically seat yourself, no one says "hello", took forever for someone to take our drink order, then waited forever for the food. Then came our food and the order got ####-ed up. The food itself was not that great. Had to ask for syrup and hot sauce. Eggs not fluffy and had a bad taste so I drowned mine in hot sauce. The French Toast was not flavorful, no cinnamon, no vanilla. Bleh! read more

We enjoyed our breakfast at this clean, friendly, 50's style cafe. The servings were generous and good. What sets this cafe apart from others are the things on the walls. There are many baseball memorabilia and a large wall mural displaying Rodeo's history as a working class town. It seems to be a favorite place for locals to come for breakfast. I like to try to support small businesses and give them a try, but more and more often I'm getting burnt on these kinds of diners. Just visited Flippy's for the first time! Very pleasant surprise. We like places with character. Flippy's is nice, but not fancy. LOVED it! Being a Midwesterner, I'm always in search of a good Chicken Fried Steak breakfast. Flippy's DID it! Everything was great. CFS was traditional, eggs were cooked perfectly - and the toast was actually TOASTED (not just warmed bread!). We were there late morning, and the waitress even voluntarily made a fresh pot of decaf coffee for us! We'll be back! read more
