Well my Girlfriend and I finally stopped in here for the first time and let me say Raritan diner is the best we have found since moving out here. The outside is nice more like a restaurant than a diner and is welcoming. As for the inside it is very spacious compared to normal diners, but you certainly get the feel you'd expect. The food was good and came out quick and hot even tho the place was packed. I ended up getting stuffed filet soul sandwich with fries. When I ordered I didn't realize I asked for the stuffed fish but it was still good. I can be picky when it comes to fries and their fries are delicious. She had the chicken Marsala, and for $14 it was much more than we both expected basically three full chicken breasts she couldn't even eat I third of it all. Raritan diner will be our go to diner from now on. A plus!!! read more

This is a good Diner if you like Diners! They are friendly enough & their breakfast items are their best items. You get huge amounts of food so if you like left overs you'll have them here! Quite a shame. My husband and I have been coming here for a few years as we have family in the area. It used to be a great stop for some comfort food, but this diner has become the epitome of 'bad management'. It is clear that the new owners (from New York) don't know the first thing about running a business outside of their home state. It's a nice, clean building with ample seating and a large menu... But the items on the menu are extremely overpriced for poor quality food and tiny portions. Seriously, the food is BAD and REALLY EXPENSIVE. The wait staff is scarce, and it's obvious that they are VERY understaffed. I equate this to the fact that every time the owners are on the floor, they are verbally abusing the servers, belittling them, cursing at them, and borderline sexually harassing them. It's sad, and we have found ourselves leaving extra large tips simply because we felt terrible for our servers. If you have a complaint about the food or service, you'd be better off just keeping it to yourself. The female owner (complete with big hair, bad clothes, and a terrible attitude) will simply argue with you and refuse to do anything to make the experience better. The male owner will laugh at you, and offer you a frozen then re-thawed dessert, which he will claim is 'homemade'. And the host will simply ignore you while fixing her horrendous makeup and reapplying her spray tan. It's sad to say, but I'm hoping that these owners pack their bags and go back to New York so the old owners can buy this business back and turn this place into the diner it once was. In the mean time, we will be eating somewhere else when in the area, and we recommend you do too. read more

Going downhill due to new owners and the OUTRAGEOUS prices on their new menu. A group of use have been regular customers since the diner first opened and we gave the new owners a chance but they have lowered the quality of food and made the portions smaller while raising prices. You can eat at Longhorn Steakhouse for less. Most of the staff have left and new owners are not friendly at all. Recipe for failure but they can count on the out of town crowd from Diamond Nation to keep them in business. Anyone who gives a great review over the past year must not go out much. read more

Just ok. Bacon omelette with home fries. Potatoes were dry. Had better tasting bacon. Coffee was a little bitter. Unfortunately, mediocre diners like this will always be in business even if they put little effort into food prep and quality. Location and convenience are on their side. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich but received a chicken patty sandwich. Yes the same chicken patty you were served during your youth in the public education system. What a joke , I could have just gone to Wendy's and got a better tasting cutlet than what I received. This is the third strike for them and I will not be back. We have always liked this diner until The past year. We thought that cold food, missing items from our meal was just a fluke. Third time is a charm when we decided to not come back again. Ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with some Onion on it. Came out and the cheese wasn't even melted and basically a whole onion sliced up. Sent it back thinking they may throw it back of the griddle. Apparently quality is not at the top Of the cooks skill set as it was clearly thrown in the microwave and the cheese was bubbled on the plate. I didn't bother sending it back again as the server already seemed to be upset about something else. We intended on complaining as we exited but were brushed aside and all the cashier was interested in was our money. Over priced grilled cheese for sure! $7 for microwaved cheese and flat bread... did I mention slices on onion cost an extra dollar! If it was good I wouldn't complain about price but with increased prices quality should too or at least be maintained. read more

Definitely one of the best diners around! We have breakfast here every weekend and have had lunch a few times as well. Its nice and clean with modern decor,(the building is only a few years old and not old and run down like alot of other places). Breakfast food is excellent with many options, big portions and always arrives hot at the table- if you like meat their meat lovers omelet is excellent! Lots of options for the kids and they are also a good size. Service is very good on the whole and the managers definitely take an active interest in making sure things run smoothly. Would highly recommend this place to anyone especially for breakfast. read more

Recently moved to the area and my friends and I wanted to try this diner. From the moment we walked in, it was horrible. Our waiter was very rude and not attentive at all. He took our orders, brought our food to us and never saw him again. He never checked in on us to ask how everything was going or any refills. My burger was supposed to be stuffed with cheese (I got the juicy lucy) and there was a slit in my burger without cheese inside. I wanted to tell him and see if I could get a new burger with cheese because that's what I ordered but he never came to our table. My bacon on the burger was also completely overcooked and hard, there was chard on it. At the end of the meal we waited about 30 minutes before finally getting our waiters attention. He then noticed us, but then walked to the kitchen and never came back to us for our check. About 10 minutes later the manager happened to be walking by and took care of us finally. When we went to check out, the lady was rude when we asked to split the check, because we couldn't exactly ask our waiter to at the time. She took out an old school calculator and ended up doing the math completely wrong and took almost 5 minutes to do it while she had a register right in front if her. My friend ended up paying it all and we just gave him our portion separately. Horrible experience and service. Will not be going back. I will stick to Time To Eat Diner in Bridgewater. They are always friendly and quick no matter how busy it gets. read more

Where have all the diners gone, long time passing..... Geez, this country was built around diners! The place you could go and get a deelish burger deluxe or breakfast any time of the day or night. And the food was good and plentiful! Now, in Brooklyn, the diners are few and far between and not one of them is worth returning to. Most are in need of renovations giving them a dingy, dirty look. But I digress..... dh and I found The Flemington-Raritan Diner on our Saturday adventure. We ordered simple food...dh, tuna wrap and french fries; me, cheese and tomato omelet, homefries, TOAST. The homefries were REfried and were not edible. The toast looked and tasted liked it barely touched the toaster. I decided to just not eat the home fries, ate the under-toasted toast and some of the omelet. I asked for tomatoes in my omelet....they where huge pieces...the size you would find in a salad. Would be nice if they were cut smaller so they could get a bit cooked. Then I get a lesson in the new math. I ordered the 3 egg omelet, but told the waiter to have them keep 2 of the yolks and use the rest for my omelet. Simple....right? Well let's see. The omelet was $7.99, then they CHARGED me $1.59 for egg whites? Huh? If anyone should be charging, it would be me, charging them, for the 2 yolks they got out of the proposition! The waiter could not understand my annoyance. So the manager came over. I first showed him the REfried homefries. He immediately said, that he wouldn't want to eat them either. Then he explained the new math to me, that being that, in order for the kitchen to understand to keep 2 yolks, the ticket has to be written as an additional egg white charge of $1.59. Huh....I still didn't get the new math!!!!! The manager was very kind, soft spoken and willing to make the customer happy. He did so by removing the omelet off the check. That was super nice and I told him how much I appreciated it. We left, and unfortunately, dh had digestive problems all day....let's just say we needed to be aware, at all times, where the closest men's room was. He only had the tuna salad wrap and fries. I fear the tuna or the mayo did not agree with his system. He had stomach aches all day and finally felt better once home in the comfort of our own bathroom. I feel the wait staff and the managerial staff are trying to keep this place going, but I'm not sure about the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen. What a disappointment. We were regulars and looked forward to our occasional "diner nights". The shift to new ownership is very evident. Less food for more $$. The quality of the food was awful. There were four of us and each one had problems with their orders. Cold potato pancakes - offered to microwave them??? No dressing on Greek salad....too bad. Chopped steak came out mooing and the took forever to bring back. Chili - no thank you. The topper was when we shared this with the woman as we checked out with an all in of $74 she replied with "oh - I'm sorry". The waitress did her best under the circumstances. Advise - she should jump ship and work somewhere that she won't get dinged on the management choices! read more

This is our first time here. The service is great and we were able to sit where we wanted without any problems. The food is great. My grilled cheese was cooked perfectly and the avocado on top was very fresh. Also the aisles are wide enough that you won't bump into anyone else or another table. I normally like this place. I went in a few days ago and the lady sat me and son at a huge table in the center. You can clearly see there were private booths that were more comfortable for 2 people. I was waiting for my waitress and as I was looking around I get whacked in the head by this old man who was a busser! He hit my head on the bin with the cups and said " sorry " and ran away. The service was horrible, food came out cold, and we were charged for coffee and juice that, on the menu, were included with the breakfast special. No way is this a bad diner. After reading some of these reviews, I can't believe people would knock it. Flemington has long lost a good restaurant. Finally, somebody of quality and taste. People who are knocking, just don't know what diners are all about. Of course it's noisy, it's a diner. Of course they hire kids, they all get trained and its job opportunities for our local kids where it's safe to be. The food, absolutely top quality. I have been in flemington Clinton area for 8 years. Been to all around. My kids 9 12 14 voted this better than $&;:/ griddle. Quantity is just ridiculous order flank steak sand. Use left over non chewy meat for an entire meal the next day. For kids chicken fingers are not just all salt. They are freashman and tasty. Coffee 9//10 for rest. Not the cheapest NJ diner, but not too bad. The place is pretty clean and new enough not to feel dingy. The food is good, but not really above average. Oddly, they don't have chick peas which most diners have as part of their salads. The breakfast portions are big for most standard things. The least desirable thing about the place is the inconsistency with billing when you order from the breakfast menu.
