I've never sat at the bar or ordered any drinks, but based on the savory quality of Chimney Rock's food, I'm sure they're great. I will say that I'm not the biggest fan of Chimney Rock's atmosphere, but that's simply a personal preference; it's rather dark, with no windows, which feels more like a bar than a restaurant. Chimney Rock: I don't know what they're trying to be. Part of it says "pizza place", but it does NOT feel like a pizza place inside. Bar area, huge restaurant... this is a diner. Or a buffet that no longer buffets. But pizza is a big part of their menu and a lot of people order it. I can tell you, from sight alone... I wouldn't call it pizza. It's cheese, toppings, and an extremely flat crust that I can only imagine crunches to smithereens. So I went very much with not pizza. Fortunately, the menu goes many other directions. I got a hot chicken sandwich with Cajun fries, basically regular fries with a little seasoning sprinkled on (not baked in). Took a little while to get to us, but once it did, I was impressed with the spice level. This is not for the faint of tongue. The fries were perfectly cooked, but I would say just get plain fries if that's your vibe. I could have upgraded to onion rings or similar, wasn't feeling quite hungry enough for that venture. Verdict: I don't know. It's not a diner. It's not a pizzeria. Definitely seemed kid-friendly. I think my date liked this place more than I did. So again, I'll go with the balance and stick 4 stars on the wall. Could return, not sure what else in Flemington might attract (seems fairly restaurant-barren). read more

Serving up New American food, their menu has great attention to allergens with vegan and gluten free options clearly marked. The menu is wonderfully eclectic offering salads, tacos, pizza, burgers, and seriously so much more. The bavarian style pretzel, vegan nachos supreme, and vegan pizza were made to perfection! The cocktail list stands out too along with a beer list and wine selection. The outdoor patio allows leashed dogs and is covered on top from the elements. It was lightly raining when we visited and were very comfortable sitting outside. Call ahead to make sure outdoor dining is open due to weather or other considerations. This is a great place for lunch or dinner after riding the dog friendly Black River Railroad. The crust was chewy and very, very limp. The taste was OK but nothing to brag about. Just very run-of-the-mill. Would almost compare it to fast food delivery. I've been here twice and food was decent. First time I had a burger it was nicely done and they followed instructions. My second time I ordered the salad, very tasty and portion size was nice. My waiter was fairly attentive even though I sat outside. I didn't give it 5 stars only because it's not like the most fabulous place I've been. We came here with a large party after visiting the North Pole Express train in Flemington. Thankfully we called ahead, because it seems a lot of our fellow riders had the same idea! The restaurant was full at only 12pm, but the service remained friendly. I was disappointed not to receive the children's menu that is posted online for the four kids in our group, it would have given them something to do, and the kids menu is also not posted on the regular menu. We were also not offered the free dessert that the kids menu says you are entitled to but it was just as well because 2 of the 4 are vegan and likely couldn't have it. The vegans in our party were happy to have options on the menu to work with, and said they enjoyed their food. I had the peach cobbler mule to drink which was tasty and a generous portion. My mom and I shared our meals, we ordered the supreme nachos and the caprese salad. Both were tasty, I preferred the salad which had delicious garlic bread on the side and rigatoni noodles to mix in. The nachos were solid, almost every chip was covered which is important, I wish the Jalepenos would have been the pickled kind which carry more flavor and a little kick, these were fresh and SUPER spicy! Hosted my mom's birthday here for about 15-20 and Chimney Rock (and Dawn, event planner) makes this a breeze. We went with the package where we had pizzas and a choice of 5 entrees. Big winners were brisket, eggplant and pasta with vodka sauce. Pizzas were plentiful and good varieties. Nice to have an open tab at the bar for guests to enjoy. Lukas our server was a master of his craft - extremely attentive to guests and their details, including the timing of gluten free pizza and pasta for our GF family that arrived later. I stopped here for a late weekend lunch with the family after a trip up the road to Northlandz. I liked the ambiance, you get a mountain lodge feel when your at your table. I also liked that the bar area and the open seating area were separated. There were a lot of families in the open seating area, so I'm sure it allowed some of the couples/sports fans/older crowd etc. in the bar area to have an escape from kids! The menu had so many options, it was hard to choose just one thing! I ended up ordering the Smoked Brisket - tender beef brisket, Carolina slaw, pickles & hot cherry peppers on a toasted brioche bun with BBQ sauce on the side at $13.99. I'm not usually a big slaw fan, but the Carolina slaw on that sandwich was amazing and the brisket was tender, lightly smoked and delicious. Their beer list had a lot of local NJ breweries on tap so I stuck to a couple brews made right in Flemington. They were both decent for their style and I appreciated the variety on their tap list. Our server was young and so sweet. She got along great with my 2 year old. She was prompt and very helpful with everything we asked for. One strange thing, they had no yellow mustard. Just spicy. Kind of an odd condiment to not have, but my wife forgave them. Tons of parking outside, bathrooms were in good shape, the sports bar looked like a fun time and the prices weren't bad. Went for a quick lunch with Mom after some Christmas shopping. Chris was our waiter and he was wonderful. He was friendly, attentive, polite and an awesome waiter. Our food was as good as always but with Chris as our server, the entire experience was fantastic. The crispy chicken sandwich was delicious. ( No pictures, Mom are fast ...sorry) I had the Rock Chopped Salad and switched out the cheese and it was perfect. The staff is always so welcoming and caring. CRI is a great family restaurant which is casual but delicious. The restaurant is always clean and the manager, Keith (?) was very helpful and fun to talk to. My family have been going to the Bridgewater location since the 80s. When they opened the Flemington location, we ventured to check it out. The inside is laid out exactly the same as the Bridgewater location. When they had a location in Gillette, the layout was different so you felt like you were in a different restaurant. After we moved to Readington, the Flemington location became our go-to when we wanted their thin crust, which is what Chimney Rock is known for. It's thinner than regular "thin crust" like you'd get at Dominos, Papa Johns, or a regular pizzeria. The slices are also cut narrow, so much so that it only takes me about 3 bites to eat a whole slice. If you're not in the mood for pizza, they have salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and pasta. The wait staff has always been very friendly, whether it's for dine-in service, grabbing a few pies to-go, or purchasing gift cards. If you go during typical dining hours (i.e., lunch and dinner), it will most likely be busy, and a bit on the noisy side but not so noisy that you need to yell to have a conversation. read more

We were greeted right away and given a back booth as we had children with us which was great. Our server was excellent and had great timing with checking in on us. Great slaw, meat was a little fatty and they could have put a larger portion of both the brisket and slaw but overall I would get it again. The french fries on the side did not come out crispy or hot on any of our plates. The Rock Chop salad, another "Rock Classic" left much to be desired. 2/10. The chicken was dry, and all of the ingredients appeared and tasted like this salad had been chopped and stored for at least two days. All of the ingredients' flavors had blended together and were pretty flavorless. I was especially looking forward to the in-season Jersey corn but I was disappointed. Even the bacon was on the flavorless side. Alas, I was famished and the somewhat-saving-grace of the salad was the Poppy dressing which was surprisingly not-too-sweet. The Pizza was great 7/10.
