When i opened the container, it was basically just a big burrito not even cut in half. It was actually rolled the completely wrong way. as soon as I picked it up, everything just fell out the end. HORRIBLE!!! My husband and I, with friends, have eaten here consistently for over 20 years, but the owner (Angelo) is so nasty that he will now lose all our business. Make sure you read the fine print on the menu to avoid Angelo's rath if you DARE question an upcharge. And don't order the "Pavarotti" - it's tasteless. The prices have increased, and the quantity has decreased. Very sad that Angelo treats his customers so poorly. Not worth the aggravation. read more

TLDR: order the Grandma or Sicilian pizza with a burrata appetizer and a cannoli dessert. These options are all very good. Ask for fresh slice if what's delivered is hard as they have no problem serving old slices! We've been 6 times now, it started great and has progressively gone downhill. The pasta is so so with what tastes like canned mushrooms. Staff service is hit or miss, sometimes fantastic and sometimes abysmal. Don't order the drip coffee as it sometimes tastes really bad and according to the server can be 3-4 hours old. When asked if they would make a fresh pot they refused! They have an espresso machine but will only make espresso or cappuccino, they can't make an americano which is just espresso and hot water, ridiculous! read more

My reasoning for coming here and ordering what I did was super random and unlikely to be repeated - one of my chums gave birth a few days ago to a baby that my other friend and I have been affectionally calling a meatball for several months. As a noble gesture, we each decided to separately get something for lunch this past Saturday that was meatball-related. I happened to be passing through Flemington on my way home and figured an Italian place was a decent option to locate said meatballs. So I pulled off Route 31 and wandered in, noting the reserved parking spots right by the entrance for wounded veterans. Nice touch. This is honestly not my kind of place. I'm pretty snobby when it comes to Italian and pizza more specifically - if a pizza place is selling more than just pizza, that's often a red flag for me. I was a little surprised based on the exterior at how casual Angelo's was; I expected a more formal restaurant, possibly with tablecloths, but it's a blue collar by the slice Italian place with a lot of predictable menu items like subs, mainstream pasta dishes, calzones, etc. Not a negative, just not what I was expecting. I grew up in Hunterdon County, so overall I'd say this was pretty par for the course. True to the meatball methodology, I decided to go with a meatball sub (I think around $12 or $13). It was okay. SUPER filling, and reminded me why it's so rare that I get subs. I have portion control issues and never remember to just eat half of one (absolutely my issue and no one else's). The bread was the selling point - it was just the right amount of crispness, despite having to deal with potential sogginess on the part of the tomato sauce within its confines. Very pleasant, and made me consider the possibility of sampling the wood-fired pizzas if I'm ever back here again. The meatballs were also pretty good - not THAT flavorful but juicy/tender and a decent size. I was not crazy about the cheese, though this could be at least partially a personal palate preference. You can see in the attached picture that it's very thick and rubbery, and in parts was a little congealed. It's the most obvious area to upgrade, but overall the sub did the job. As an aside, Milano's in Jersey City has the best fresh mozzy for subs I've ever had. Maybe the owners of Angelo's can go on a recon mission there. I also decided to get a cannoli to round out the adventure (I think about $5). Very tasty, and exactly the right portion for someone who accidentally ate an entire sub. The dough was a little too thin, but honestly I prefer that over it being too thick and overpowering the creamy filling. The service was perfectly fine for the type of establishment this is. When I came in, the waitress was on her cell phone at the counter, but immediately got up and directed me to the seating area. I don't recall waiting a significant amount of time for anything, so above average all the way around. This was also a pretty good price point for the area. Even taking into account that basically every item on Earth is about $3 more expensive than it was last year, I had a huge lunch and dessert that required nothing more than a $20, which included tip. You could do worse. I'm probably not going to have a reason to actively seek out meatballs again any time soon, but this adventure could have been a lot worse. read more

Service was terrible. Food was mediocre. Had to ask repeatedly for a single refill on water, dirty dishes were not removed from the table unless asked, leaving no room for the next course of food. We also weren't given silverware until our entrees came out "because they ran out" so we were left to serve and eat the appetizer with our hands. They also forgot to put in the order for one of the entrees so after waiting 30 minutes for the last entree and everyone else had finished eating, we had to get up and ask them to take it off our bill because our server was nowhere to be found. read more

They're back. Back to being nasty again. When they reopened after the fire the food was good. The pizza had thick pieces of peperoni and went up to the crust. No more as the peperoni was thin and tasteless. What was worse was the Margherita di buffalo pizza. The cheese was not even on every section of the pizza. The basil amount was worse. It seemed they took 1/2 of a piece and chopped it up thin and put it on the whole pizza, Pitiful. It was also undercooked on top. It was just nasty and after taking the pizzas home, they were too wretched to eat. They were put in the trash. I don't like knocking businesses, but I paid an honest price, and the food was bad. The server didn't clean off all the tables either as many were dirty. They were chit chatting when we came in so they had time. Then when we ordered, instead of putting the order in, she started to clean the tables. She didn't give many napkins for finger food and never came back to check on us. We were not rude . We just can't go back since they got back to the bad food before the fire. There were not may eating there either and I didn't see many takeouts, With al the Italian choices in Flemington, I can't see any reason to go back. read more

I enjoy the atmosphere here at Angelos's. The staff is very nice and the service is pretty good. The portions are fairly large. The prices are a little high. That said you get what you pay for a large plate of food that is delicious. read more

Ordered takeout - had not been there in years - and enjoyed everything. The side salad was wilted and veal was a little tough but otherwise tasted good. I would recommend the tortellini soup and any of the pastas and dishes with no veal. read more

Angelo's is located along the busy Route 31 that goes right through Flemington. They have a medium sized parking area that is easy to get into and out of from the highway. They have a large indoor dining area that has a cozy atmosphere. I've tried both their standard pizza and their wood-fired pizza. The Brooklyn square slice I had was alright, but it was missing something. The crust and base were pleasantly crisp, but the sauce was slightly bitter. The plain slice was very cheesy. It featured a thin, crispy base with a decent crust and a juicy light sauce. One note is that the sauce has a slightly bitter/acidy taste when you get closer to the crust. The wood-fired pizza is where Angelo's shines. I tried the Margherita Di Bufalo. It had a toasty base and a crisp crust that had a great fluffy interior. The cheese was a perfect creamy, milky flavor and the sauce was excellent. Overall it was a very good pie. My final comment is that the staff was so friendly and kind and made me feel very welcomed. Next time I return, I'm definitely going to try more of their wood-fired pizza. read more

Just ordered a couple faves and a new fave, eggplant rollatini & chicken Caruso as well as our killer new fave ZZZAAAAAAA the Grandma Pie!!! We added those insanely tasty real deal pepperoni as well... it's incredible. This is a restaurant I'm so thankful made it through the Rona shut downs as well as a fire prior. We love you Angelo's We've never had anything but outstanding Italian food made with love. I did NOT remember to take a picture but please don't ignore this review because of lack of a visual!!! I grew up in NY (in the same town my mother and grandfather did!) and have moved to Pennsylvania. I have just come to accept that there is nothing like NY pizza. And that's fine. But today, leaving a baseball tournament with my son and my NY Italian mother, we wanted a lunch that wasn't fast food. So we googled and found Angelo's. This happened to be my grandfather's name so we took a chance. We nervously ordered the Sicilian pizza. Our server, Nick, was SO kind, and ended up securing 2 elusive corner pieces. We tried it and OMG it was like we were back in the multi-generation run pizza place that we went to every Friday night!! SO authentic, SO delicious! If you want to know what Sicilian pizza is SUPPOSED to taste like, be treated so kindly by all the staff and enjoy a great meal - GO to Angelo's! So glad we have so many tournaments here this summer - can't wait to go back!!! read more

Not gonna lie, I was pretty hammered when I ate here. I just had many beers at nearby Conclave Brewing before my tum tum began craving some meaty slices of pizza. Only 5 minutes away, I found myself at Angelo's. Service was friendly and I was seated right away. The menu has a bunch of different pizza options including the classics and specialty pies. The pizzas are cooked wood-fired so I figured the crust and texture would be reminiscent to brick-oven or coal-fired pies I have tasted in the past. In my drunken state, I was looking for a no frills experience so I skipped the specialty pies and ordered a pepperoni pie. Out it came, the round thick cut pepperoni bubbling hot, a lil greasy (the good meat fatty kind). The pizza was phenomenal. Nice thin crust, saucy cheesy and meaty. I devoured the entire pie within a matter of minutes. While perhaps slightly biased due to level of inebriation, I feel my palette can still be trusted. I'll come back sober next time to confirm! read more

Salad was fresh as can be... crispy greens nicely dressed instead of giving us a tiny container of too-little dressing. Chicken Francaise was fabulous. Their score should only reflect the insanely high quality, delicious perfection that is their pizza! This place is a gem and from crust to cheese to topping it is an unmatched product above the bar of every other pizzeria in town - and I'd say the best we've had anywhere, maybe ever. I'd put them In the ranks of Princeton's famous Conte's (but I think they're better) We have enjoyed wood burning oven pies which were incredible (pepperoni, eggplant and the tomato pie). We just ordered the Grandma pie which was the most delicious crust, cheeses and the tomatoes steal the show with their mild, sweet and juicy flavor. Lastly, we just ordered their New York style pie with sausage, mushrooms and crushed garlic...guys...it might be the best pizza any of us ever had. We were endlessly gushing over it's piled high quality ingredients and flavors and generous cheeses while stuffing our faces. Do yourself a favor and see for yourself. I tried this place recently and had a decent experience here. The food and service was spot on. I had mussel penne with garlic sauce and it was great. A little salty for my personal taste but manageable. The side salad was good and I had it with honey mustard dressing. There was some bitter radishes not sure if it's suppose to or not not but wasn't a deal breaker for me. I ordered a slice of cheesecake for dessert and it was so good. The texture was perfect but it didn't have the graham cracker crust at the bottom. The only reason why I give the restaurant 4 stars is because the tap water I got was metallic and salty. It was weird and killed my foodie vibe a bit. Overall a great experience and would recommend/10 read more
