My husband and I were going to stop next door at Golden Bowl and decided to come here instead. Walked in and were seated right away. Waiter asked what we would like to order before we had a chance to look at the menu. We ordered our drinks and received them a few minutes later- a bottled lemonade and a canned coke. We were given cups with no straws. We then asked for straws, twice and the waiter completely ignored us. We asked for napkins and the waiter said you have napkins right there and pointed at our utensils. My husband then grabbed the napkin dispenser from the table next to us. We were given our salad and (really) hard bread. When the waiter noticed we had the napkin dispenser on our table, she quickly grabbed it and took it away. We reminded her that we would like straws for our cups and some napkins and she said oh I forgot. She proceeded to walk away and answer the phone instead. She came back with our straws and 2 napkins. We hadn't received our food yet and didn't touch our salads. My husband and I decided this was not the establishment for us to spend our hard earned money at. We are truck drivers and visit New Jersey frequently, we try to give small local businesses a try but this one was not a good choice. We see the owner responding to reviews, instead of taking into consideration what the locals are saying. Also seen a reply on a review saying this is the reason why small business don't stay business, but I don't think it's the reviews, it's the service. This may also be the reason why the establishment was empty. Maybe take that time to improve the service at the establishment instead of replying to reviews. read more

On our way to a basketball game from PA last Friday night (Valentine's Day), we were hungry for good Italian food. We thought, worst case, we could order a pizza if the dinners didn't appeal to us. SO WRONG ! My husband got veal parmigiana which was delicious. I ordered a chicken dish with sliced tomato and melted mozzarella...outstanding! The tortellini soup in tomato broth was very different but a very pleasant surprise. Very welcoming family business. One daughter, Theresa, was our waitress. I have ordered take out from here and that has been fine. Today we decided to eat in. They had nice outdoor seating but the first thing I noticed is they the radio is super loud outside. I could not even hear my friend sitting right next to him. The table next to us and the table across from us also asked for the music to be turned down but it was still blaring. We ordered salads and gluten free pizza. The salad was good. The gluten free pizza had runny sauce and cheese was running all over the place. The gluten free crust was kind of like cardboard. I've gotta say, this is unequivocally the worst pizza I've had in my entire life. First of all, my family and I walk into the restaurant after a nice day out to the owner arguing with one of the younger staff members. This should've been my first red flag, but we proceeded to walk up to the counter to order. Not only do they not apologize, they ask me to wait a second to place my order. After patiently waiting, i ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza, to which they reply they are out of sausage. So I then decide to get a veggie pizza with olives, banana peppers, and onion. My family and I then sat and waited for the one pizza for almost 45 min. When the pizza finally arrived, not only they forget to include the olives, my daughter also found a hair on her slice. I confronted the manager about it and he claimed it was her hair (even though it was a short black hair and my daughter is blonde). After that, my family and I stormed out and I will never visit that place again! read more

I have seen this place many times in driving from NJ into PA and vice versa and its always usually crowded or has cars in the parking lot. I've proclaimed to others that this place must have pizza (good pizza not crap) as there usually are a bunch of people here. I finally stopped yesterday and it was a great choice for me to stop at. The pizza is razor thin and true brick oven pizza. The crust was amazing and crunchy and delicious, the toppings were perfect and they were definitely NOT cheap on the pepperoni! Our family each wanted a little something different to eat, so we decided to eat in. They normally have a good bottled half and half drink there on the Saturday evening we went. Of course they were out of it. So we were forced to have soda which we don't normally drink. $2.50 for each bottle of root beer. We tried to order certain items and they were out of a few items so we made due and got different appetizers. I asked for a chicken parm sandwich with vodka sauce instead of marinara. Since everything there is NOT cooked to order and instead it is all precooked and heated up as per the waitress the OWNER refused to make it. I have never had that happen to me before. Fully staffed kitchen. And the owner said no. Don't get too cocky. Your food is not that great. I pass two pizzerias to get to yours. Needless to say. I tell everyone in town what happened. I was working out of town and a friend brought me here because their family recommended it. They'd been coming here for years. I really like Pizza and Subs so I thought there's no way you can mess up bread, cheese and sauce. I convinced myself of that theory when I ordered the Cheesesteak Sub. I WAS WRONG!!!! The portion was big and I'm used to eating large portions. I was happy to see that and was hoping/expecting it since it's supposed to be a family styled restaurant. Flavor and satisfaction get 0 stars; straight FAIL for a grade. The meat was prepared in tomato sauce and tasted like it had come out of a frozen package. It came with peppers and onions, but that didn't save it, There was no seasoning whatsoever! It's called a Cheesesteak so where was the cheese?! I ordered it with cheese! It took about 45 minutes to get my sub. They were probably trying to defrost the prepackaged meat? I should've just found a subway. I will NOT be returning or recommending! A nice place to go out to dinner with friends, family, or on a date. It has both a dining room and a casual 'pizzeria' sit-down area, so take your pick. They specialize in wood-fired pizzas, which are delicious. But I often get a dinner while I'm there -- some kind of pasta/chicken dish, like Marsala. Either way you go about it, the food is good. Service is also quality, from my experiences. Angelo's is one of Flemington, NJ's hidden gems -- literally, as you may miss it driving down Route 31. Stopped by on a whim right before closing time on a Tuesday. First, its definitely a pizza place, they may try to dress it up a bit (sort of) but don't expect more than a small italian joint. The waitress that we had was attentive, sweet and knew the menu well; that being said, I can see how she would be a bit forgetful if she had a few tables (we were her only table at that time). But you're at a freaking pizza place, when she forgets your water learn how to speak italian, throw your hands up and get her attention. This much I expected. Started with Calamari which was decent, wasn't pre-breaded it and it had pretty good flavor - not the best, not the worst. We each had a small brick oven pizza and were both very impressed. Thin crust, great distribution of toppings and just a great overall pizza. Its rare to have a thin crust pizza that isn't overly soggy in the middle and stands up well without the need for fork and knife. I'd highly recommend it. The cannoli we had for dessert deserves its own paragraph (and here it is). Wow, freshly filled for every order with a delightfully crisp shell. The filling is homemade, and I knew that even before our waitress told me. Rich and creamy with an even distribution of chips and the shell added that crunch I always look forward to in a cannoli... (I'm starting to think I shouldn't yelp on an empty stomach) All that being said, its worth a stop. Grab a pizza, remind the waitress about your water and definitely MOST definitely try a cannoli. read more

We organized my daughter's baby shower in a separate room there this past Saturday and everything about the experience was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! First of all, the owners Angelo and Danielle were very nice, helpful, accommodating and professional. We chose party menu number 2, which was just stupendous. I cannot tell you how much all the guests (23 people) absolutely raved about the food. It was truly top notch and not your usual run-of-the-mill Italian fare. The space is a perfect size for a party of 30-40 very comfortable. Our waitress, Michelle, was a total sweetheart. It was an all around very pleasant experience. I highly recommend this venue for a party. I don't know how the price per person holds up against other venues but we felt we got very good value for our money and trust me, not having any aggravation and having very happy guests is worth any cost in the long run. read more

I ordered basic stuff to get a feel for their menu, and basic is perfect when it's done right... This was perfect! It was after 5pm so the wood burning oven was going, we ordered a pizzette, one of their specialty pizzas, perfect crust and fresh fresh fresh toppings! To start we had the asparagus Gorgonzola, I cannot say enough about the sauce with this dish, save it to dip your slices in! I stopped by Angelo's after camp for their famous wood burning stove pizza. For an appetizer I had Mozzarella Carrozza. It's deep fried mozzarella and bread--a nice change from mozzarella sticks. It was really good. Next I had the Melanzana Parmigiana pizza, which was basically pizza with fried eggplant, tomatoes and basil. It was really good and we could taste the fresh tomatoes and basil. I highly recommend it. One thing you should know about the restaurant. While they accept credit cards, they now charge a surcharge of 2.99% of the bill plus 25 cents. My father did not like that. Went here for my mom's b-day dinner on a Saturday night. Everyone in our party was pleased with their meals - the eggplant parm and calamari dishes were especially praised. Service was friendly and prompt, and BYOB is a plus! Our main complaints related to the ambiance: we all felt that the lighting was unnecessarily intense and "glarey," and (our biggest issue) the restaurant was simply too hot on a winter night to be comfortable for an extended period of time. I've been a patron of Angelo's for a long time. The food is OK but not great and definitely overpriced. The reason I am writing now is because I placed a to go order last night that was atrocious. I ordered a pizza and a pasta dinner over the phone and was told 20 minutes. I left my house after about 25 minutes, knowing as a Saturday night they were probably running a little late. When I got there, I could see my pizza (it was labeled with the number they had given me) sitting above the oven. Angelo went to it and said "what else you order" and I said tortellini and he said "oh we waiting for that still, one minute" No problem, the place was packed. Well one minute turned into an additional TWENTY minutes. I believe that the kitchen either sent my order to the dining room or it never was put in. It took around 50 minutes from the time I called to get my food. Angelo did look very flustered by my presence although I never complained. He kept going back to the kitchen and yelling at the staff. Also in the 20 minutes I was standing there, I witnessed a waitress and one of the chef's get into a yelling match, in which the waitress loudly exclaimed "don't f-ing yell at us, do your f-ing job." Classy. When my food finally came up, Angelo quickly grabbed it and began to ring up the dinner and the now cold pizza. I understand the place was busy and I've worked in restaurants before so I could relate. But it's what Angelo did next that I found shocking. He did nothing. He didn't throw me some garlic knots, or a free soda or not charge me for my pizza's one topping. He didn't even say "sorry for the wait" He charged me for everything, full price, no freebies and no apology. I paid by credit card and when I wrote 0.00 for tip and handed back the slip, he examined it for a few seconds. To add insult to injury, our pasta was so hard and undercooked (confirming the fact that they probably started cooking it when I came to pick it up) that I had to put it in a saucepan for a good 5 minutes at home just to make it edible. I don't mind if the place is busy, let me know on the phone to come in 45 minutes. Not a big deal. But seriously, Angelo, if this is how you treat your regular customers, it's amazing that you are still in business.
