Since we moved into the area in 2023, my wife and I have been continuing our trend of trying new places for special occasions. For this visit, we decided to check out Dolce on Main Street in historic Flemington. The restaurant is in a great spot right in the heart of town. We were seated in their tastefully decorated dining room, which felt upscale but still welcoming. For our appetizers, my wife went with the classic caesar salad, which featured classic dressing and herb-crusted croutons. I tried the pear salad which came with walnuts and gorgonzola cheese in a balsamic vinaigrette. Both were a good start to the meal. For the main course, my wife ordered the flounder francaise. It was prepared in a lemon chardonnay sauce with capers and artichokes, which she really enjoyed. I decided to go with the scallop and shrimp special which was pan seared and served with sliced asparagus risotto in a saffron chardonnay lemon sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly and very fresh. We made sure to save room for dessert. My wife had the carrot cake special which was a triple layer cake with real cream cheese, sliced walnuts and golden raisins served with vanilla gelato. I went with the cheesecake. Both were a solid end to the night. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our meal, which we appreciated. It's a BYOB, so keep that in mind if you want to bring a bottle of wine along. However, if you forget, they do have a selection of bottles for sale from Alba Vineyard. We'll definitely be returning in the future to try some of their other traditional Italian favorites. read more

Dolce is another Albanian run restaurant serving Italian style cuisine. It has indoor and outdoor dining rooms with comfortably spaced tables. The experience is similar to buying a kit car that looks the part but is a replica of Italian cuisine that doesn't always reach the full authentic level of the original. Its success is based on reasonable tasting food for a reasonable price. The pear and Ceasar salads were very good and well orchestrated. The grilled octopus app special with cannellini beans and spinach was very good. The grilled swordfish was a good sized portion. It tasted OK but was not memorable. The mushroom ravioli came with a very watery sauce and were not great. The special lobster ravioli were better, and filled with real pieces of lobster, but the sauce was loose, it lacked seasoning and was not bright or rich in any taste but lobster stock. The premade typical tartufo was the most refreshing dessert. The tiramisu was light and delicious. The limoncello cake seemed premade and the tasty lemon ice overshadowed it. It is a BYOB and they do sell Alba wines in house. The staff is efficient but not very communicative as if they are hoping to not have to answer any questions. With a 20% tip the cost per person (without wine) can be about $70 to $85 per person. The food overall was OK but I wouldn't rush back to experience it again. read more

Dolce is a gem right on Main Street in Flemington. The ambiance is fantastic. It's upscale, chic, and cozy without feeling stuffy. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the halibut with potato purée on the specials menu. It was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. I also really appreciated how many gluten-free entrée options there were. The crème brûlée for dessert was to-die for. The staff were kind, warm, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. Overall, such a lovely dining experience. I'll definitely be back! read more

The environment was lovely, especially the large covered outdoor seating area. We were a party of four, and ordered 1 (small) fried calamari appetizer (very good), and four main dishes including 2 short rib dinners, shrimp scampi, and a bronzino. The bronzino was delicious. The other dishes were unimpressively prepared. We enjoyed sharing one piece of the mousse cake. The meal was "fine", but unwarrantedly expensive. With no drinks , one appie, one dessert and 4 entrees, we pd close to $250. I don't recommend. read more

I was lured in by that super cute front porch vibe. Sadly the night we came, it was cold and rainy, so the porch was enclosed, but still lovely. The service was wildly attentive. I couldn't drink more than a few sips of water before it was full again! The food was all delicious. The best arancini I've ever had. We also got the goat cheese gnocchi and the tortellini carbonara. Both delicious! And we finished with a tiramisu and some coffee. No complaints all around. High recommend! read more

Come to Dolce! I had a great dinner with friends here recently. You are greeted with a smile by friendly and very attentive waiters. Your meal is started with bread for the table and the most delicious garlic & parsley oil. It's so tasty I could drink it! Your food comes out quickly, even on a busy Friday night. They are a well oiled machine and know what they're doing. I got the veal fungi. It was the best I've ever had. It was served with the richest most delicious red wine demi-glace. The meat was so tender. I ate every last drop. I asked for double veggies instead of the starch that came with it and they happily obliged. I ordered the special for dessert: pistachio cream tiramisu. Not really a tiramisu but delicious nonetheless. Can't wait to come back in the summer to eat on the patio! read more

Wiped my plates clean!!! Food: I ordered chicken Fiorentina. It was cooked well and there was a beautiful harmony between all the food on my plate. Service: friendly service, felt easy and natural. Timely too! Value: it was $50/per person for dinner, dessert and coffee. It is reasonable Parking: the narrow driveway leads to a fairly large parking lot in the back. We got the last spot at 7:30 in a Friday night. Bathrooms: new addition to my reviews. You can tell a lot about a place based on how they maintain their bathrooms. We were very hopeful on our first visit. They seated us on a Friday night right away. A server handed us menus and walked away. We needed to flag a server down for everything except for water. The Mozzarella in Carrazzo was an overcooked grilled cheese cut in quarters. Rubbery Shrimp Scampi was served over mushy linguine. The eggplant parmigiana was overcooked with occasional bits being hard and crunchy over limp angel hair. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Dolce is a wonderful BYOB restaurant! Where one va say every restaurant has a bad day, I hope I'm not jinxing it by saying that that hasn't happened yet at Dolce ... a great meal every time. The food is fresh and the waiters are attentive and polite. While the outside is not particularly inviting, the inside is intimate and clean. I had the Italian wedding soup appetizer and the tortellini in a white sauce and our friends ordered the bolognese pasta and the chicken Milanese. All meals were perfectly prepared and served timely. Dined at the restaurant this evening and specifically requested a meal that was Gluten Free. They definitely did not abide by the Gluten Free request as within an hour of the visit I was violently ill. Definitely do not recommend this restaurant if you have any sort of allergy. Hit or Miss - literally. First of all a PSA - parking not the best at this place and definitely difficult entry/exit for anyone handicapped so be prepared. As for the food the Hit was one of the specials the night we went and not on the regular menu. The lamb shank was outstanding and cooked just right. Very flavorful, tender, and a good size portion. The Miss was 2 items. The lobster ravioli was flat and overpriced for what you get. Same goes for the fried calamari - ours was overcooked, a bit chewy and the small portion size (10-12 on the plate) makes it way overpriced as well. Seems that other reviewers had better luck with their food here so we may try the place again - but if so then hard pass on the fried calamari & the ravioli. read more

So revising... clam sauce my husband had is. 10/10! We had beef carpaccio as an appetizer and it was delicious. I had Chicken Parmigiana and it was traditionally fabulous. I would order it again. The bread is fresh and the basil garlic oil is really really good. One suggestion is to perhaps find another source for desserts. I think Italian restaurants should have good authentic cheesecake. Top tier Italian food, outdoor seating available. Reservations recommended. Staff was very friendly and accommodating , its a quaint spot in town so cute. We started with a bottle of bubbly which they put on ice right at our table, my starter was a brie with this delicious jam . Im a sucker for brie hehe. It had long slices of apples along the side with a nice toasted bread in the middle covered with jam and oozing with cheese aka brie. For my entree I ordered a shrimp dish can't recall the name at this moment but a yellow sauce covered the plate jumbo shrimp with tail seasoned and warm, with spinach and mashed potatoes on the side all on top of the sauce. IT WAS SO GOOD , I don't believe I had any leftovers . . For dessert I had to get a creme brûlée of course with an espresso . We have been regularly dining at Dolce for a number of years and today was the first time I noticed they have made their portions smaller. The food is still delicious but wow the portions are not worth the price. There are many Italian restaurants in the area that offer great food and much larger portions, I suggest Dolce be mindful of that fact and readjust their offerings to match the price. read more

Had an amazing date night at Dolce m Sunday, August 16, 2020. We went because the weather was nice and cool, first real cool night of the summer. Everyone was so attentive, outside seating followed social distancing guidelines, and all the employees wore masks. The food was phenomenal, the bread with an amazing pesto started the night off so well. For appetizers We had fried calamari with marinara (the marina has a tiny kick to It, I could just drink It on it's own!), and pasta fagioli (was not mine, but I kept dipping my own spoon in It, It was so delicious!) For entree I had chicken parmigiana, and my partner had eggplant parmigiana, we shared our dishes but both only ate half so that we could have room for yummy dessert. For dessert I had the Italian chocolate soufflé (May have been the chocolate cake though), although I really wanted the Pistachio and Hazelnut gelato (I ended up getting It to go, and will have It with my leftovers the following night), the chocolate filling was so delicious, and It paired so well with the vanilla ice cream. My partner got the cheesecake, which was nice a cold and very smooth. Put cappuccinos were perfect. Please call to check their "COVID" hours, as we thought we went late enough for It to start getting dark, but not too late so that we were and inconvenience, and it turned out that they close earlier because we saw their regular before Covid time.
