I had originally made an 8:00 reservation through Tock since the show was scheduled to run until then, but we left after the trophies were awarded around 7:00. Matt's was able to accommodate us nearly an hour early. Matt's is located inside what feels like a historic home, with several dining areas including one reached by stairs immediately after entering. It was busy when we arrived, although by around 8:30 there was plenty of seating available. The tables are fairly close together but not so close that you feel crowded, and the noise level was moderate. We could easily have a conversation while occasionally overhearing the owner explaining the origin of the restaurant's name. I started with the Rooster House Salad, which was very good. It had just enough honey-sherry vinaigrette without overpowering the marinated vegetables. For my entrée, I had the Prime Hanger Steak medium rare. It was cooked properly, and I particularly liked the accompanying horseradish steak sauce. My wife started with the Rustic Wild Mushroom Soup and had the Fire Roasted Shrimp Pasta for her entrée. She enjoyed both. The pasta had at least half a dozen good-sized shrimp and was a large enough portion that she brought some home. Matt's is BYOB, but I managed to leave our bottle of wine at home. They also offer a selection of local Unionville wines by the bottle, with half bottles available for some selections, so we ordered a half bottle of Unionville Cabernet Sauvignon. Service from Dave K. was very good. My wife almost left her leftover pasta behind, and Dave actually ran outside to catch us before we left. We've consistently enjoyed our dinners at Matt's, and this visit was no exception. Being able to accommodate us well ahead of our reservation and Dave making sure we didn't leave without our leftovers were particularly appreciated.

The staff are very kind and the service is quick. The interior is modern and up-to-date, paralleled by its brick historic vibe exterior, as the Stangl Factory building was once a pottery/ceramic factory. Now, the building is home to Blue Fish Grill, as well as a number of other businesses including an artist-owned gallery, a large pottery studio, a medium, and a yoga and physical therapy studio. Stangl also hosts a weekly artisan farmers' market and bi-monthly live music and art events. It really is a growing creative community. Blue Fish Grill doesn't have a bar, but they do allow BYOB. If you find yourself in the Flemington area, be sure to grab a bite at Blue Fish! It will surely be a meal to remember.

Salene was very knowledgeable and very welcoming. I think the tastings only happen on Saturday's, and they are always curated with a different theme in mind. Small but great selection of various liquors also!
