The corn tortillas were full of tasty pork and accompanied by cilantro, onions, limes, radishes and cucumbers. Red and green sauces also. We lived in the area for a little over 5 years and just now discovered this little gem! We shared the empanada appetizer and I got the pork osso bucco and mango smoothie. The chicken/potato empanada were definitely not what we expected. The filling was more like chicken flavored mashed potatoes with a few shreds of chicken. It was more a deep fried perogie than an empanada. Not quite what we were looking for. The osso bucco is a lot of food, definitely enough for at least 2 meals. Despite being such a long standing restaurant in the community, I was shocked to find this place practically in my own backyard and I had never noticed before. Agave seems to come out of nowhere on approach, and actually could pass as a home from the outside, but once you're in, it's a nicely themed restaurant. The menu had various Mexican options and even a few Italian ones. We started with chicken and potato empanadas, which were unfortunately about 90% potato and maybe 10% chicken. It had good flavor but the prevalence of just potato was very disappointing. Fortunately, my Chimmichanga for dinner was a different story and brimming with proteins. It was so large I only ate half and tucked the 2nd half away for a future snack. Great flavor throughout and came with a side of guac, pico, and sour cream. The mango and pineapples lemonades we had were also very flavorful and our waiter was extremely proactive and attentive, which is always appreciated. I ordered the birria tacos for takeout which came with four tacos and all the right sides: birria sauce, red and green salsa, onions, cilantro, lime, cucumber, and chips. The flavors came together really nicely when adding in all the toppings and green sauce and overall tasted fresh and satisfying. Only thing I didn't love was the birria sauce itself. Got takeout from here. The restaurant is bright and pretty even if the outside of the restaurant was dark. We got a veggie burrito, smothered green chilli chicken burrito and chicken empandas. Food was good. We enjoyed everything we got. I would have liked a little more flavor on the chicken burrito since it seems without the green chilli sauce, it would have been a little plain. However, green chilli sauce was good and made the dish. Price for 4 pieces of empanadas was a little steep but I guess thats inflation :(. This is a cute little decorated spot off the beaten path. Our waitress was nice and super busy with most of the tables . They are a BYOB . You can bring the liquor and they can make your margaritas on ice . The menu is pretty decent but not overwhelming like some . We ordered chicken and birria tacos , and a burrito . Portions are pretty big but flavor profile just didn't hit the spot for me but tasty enough. We sat at a high top by the counter which wasn't the best spot considering all the customers picking up orders are all up your back so it was a bit annoying. We were very hyped by their instagram page and the photos look amazing, but the actual food is nothing like the photos. The current menu is 90% Mexican, so the Italian fusion is missing. Sat in the outside area, and it's covered with many tarps hooked together. Be careful if rain in forecast, as there are gaps, especially in the middle of the area. The plastic black tables had white stains on them. There is a long bench seat against the "window wall" . We had initially been seated against the plastic window wall, and there was the smell of cigarettes from a near area/neighbor. My wife and I stopped by for dinner last weekend. We've ordered take out from Agave before but we felt we really needed to dine in to judge. Appetizers are not pictured (nachos and empanadas were both excellent.) I really appreciated the nachos were not covered in cheese sauce and sour cream. I love both but too much and the nachos get soggy. My wife ordered the fajita bowl and loved it. Steak was well seasoned, and rice and veggies were cooked perfectly. I had the birria tacos. Absolutely outstanding. The dipping sauce that comes with the tacos is made from the drippings of the birria. It's essentially a Mexican au jus. It's the perfect compliment to the tacos. BYOB. Helping some friends out in White Horse, and we were looking for restaurants and saw Italian, Chinese, Italian, Japanese? nah, Italian, American... and Mexican. Mexican won. Well, Mexican fusion. Not really my style. I got the quesadilla here with al pastor, and I asked for it spicy. I can vouch that there is no spice at this restaurant, don't even bother. The meat had AMAZING flavor, but the order was absolutely soaked in oil by the time it got back home. Never seen that much oil in Mexican food. We had a first-time coupon for chips/guac, and the avocado is very poorly mashed in the guac - huge chunks throughout, not really the way to go. But it's fresh! And the chips are extra-overdone. They were wheat chips, and I imagine you could get corn since this place is very gluten-free accommodating, and that's probably gonna be a better bet if they offer it. Dunno. Anyway, food was ready a few minutes early when we placed our to-go order. Restaurant seems bright and happy inside, not the biggest but it's in a historic building. My impression is that the food is fresh here, service is friendly, but it's really not authentic Mexican. It's Tex-Mex for the American palette. This place is super cute. I love the interior decor. It's cheery and vibrant yet also cozy at the same time. Not tacky at all. They did a fantastic job with the interior. Your meal starts off with house made chips and guacamole salsa. Both are delicious. Our waiter said the salsa was spicy but it was not. We stuck with Hispanic themed menu items. I got the tostadas with carnitas. They were excellent. The carnitas were very tender and flavorful. I added a side of pico de gallo and used some of the guacamole salsa to perfect my tostadas. My friend got the Mulita with carne asada. I have never heard of this dish before. It's layers of meat and cheese in between corn tortillas and topped with a bunch of deliciousness! Give this one a try. For dessert we shared a tres leches cake and got decaf cappuccinos. These both were also wonderful. The ceviche was wonderful as was the huarache & birria (blue tortilla topped with beef marinated in chillies). The agave nachos with Al Pastor steak was very good and the impossible burger (real beef not plant according to the server topped with egg and bacon) was cooked medium rare perfectly and tasted great. Found this place when we drove by it a few times and got intrigued. Mexican and Italian?! So glad we came! Staff was friendly and attentive. I saw some meh reviews about being slow service, but we had no issues. Maybe they were just working out some kinks in getting started. Food was absolutely delicious. We started with the chips and guac, ordered mango habanero wings, the paella, and the soft crab taco special with the sweet chili sauce. Everything definitely had some light heat, but the flavor was just so great. We also got some horchata. All around delicious! The menu is pretty big and I felt like I wanted to just try it all. Tons of gf and vegetarian options too if that's you're jam. If we had any room left, the desserts sounded fantastic.
