We were in Reading for the Clint Black concert this past Friday night, and we wanted to grab a bite before the show. As native Texans, we are always game for Mexican themed fare, and Comalli Taqueria didn't disappoint!!! The menu is interesting and fresh, and the choices are plentiful - good for all tastes and preferences! They also offer a great take on queso - or as they label it, K-So! And their sauces are on point! The tacos are of the "street taco" varietal, so it's good to order at least two to three. Our server was very helpful and friendly, and she made great suggestions on what to try! And the restaurant itself is very lively with a fun vibe! Cute little Mexican restaurant in West Reading. The popular dishes are the burrito bowls and wraps. There are so many filings to choose from! We all went with the Al Pastor as our meat. In addition to the yummy fillings they lightly grill the wrap where the bottom gets a little tan. My favorite way. The traditional margarita was nicely made. THE spot for tacos in West Reading. Frantic dining room and service. One of the best things to do here is try out new tacos based on name alone. On my last trip I got the El Fungi (sauteed portabella mushroom, poblano pepper, red onion, fresh pico, and avocado on a blue corn tortilla) and paired it with an El Brulee (pulled chicken, mole poblano, double crema queso fresco, brûlée banana, on a Nixtamal tortilla). I didn't even know the latter had banana until it arrived and placed down in front of me. Now, if I had not gone with my got and instead read through all of the ingredients thoroughly, I would have seen bananas listed and said, "No way, José." Instead, I chose to wing it wouldn't you know it, somehow someway those slices of banana just worked, and just like that, the El Brulee was the most exotic taco I had ever eaten. There are so many variations of tacos here that it demands repeat visits. Then when you factor in all the burritos, tapas, and line of Crunchy-dillas (seriously stuffed quesadillas), well, you just have to accept that it may not be possible to try everything on the menu in one lifetime. One non-taco standout is the habanero corn salsa. Dear lord did this knock my socks off. There is some serious heat, and it all lies in some sort of ground habanero extract that is dusted on top to form a fine, fiery layer. Not into spicy? They have you covered with a cool, refreshing pico de gallo and black bean mango salsa. This place is always bumping and attracts a lot of the late night bar crowd, keeping their doors open until 1am seven days a week. That's pretty much unheard of in West Reading. It's open later than most of the bars, which I guess is the point. Sadly, the only downside to this place is due to its popularity. At peak hours, it's an absolute madhouse. The lone hostess is usually running around like a crazy person, so when people arrive, it's not exactly clear what the seating situation is. It isn't seat yourself (other than the narrow bar that seats about seven people), so definitely don't do that. Patience is definitely needed here, but it's oh so worth it. The late night dining scene around here needed a shot in the arm, and what Comalli Taqueria has brought to the table is certainly a step in the right direction. read more

Comalli Taqueria is a whole vibe. The place is super clean and has this fun authentic Mexico feel with all the colors and the dim lighting. The inside is small but cozy and the outdoor seating is really nice if you want to hang out. The staff was super friendly and made me feel welcome right away. I went with the nachos with beef and chicken and wow it was a lot of food. Tasty filling and I even had leftovers to take home. Honestly I had a great time here. My family ate lunch here recently while visiting from out of town. We loved everything we tried. The flavors were fresh and authentic. The al pastor taco was excellent. I also tried the creme brulee taco - it was unique and had surprisingly great flavor. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. There is a decent amount of indoor seating as well as a nice patio with outdoor seating. I have been following their Facebook page since my last visit to Reading over a year ago! Our new favorite taco spot! We were able to walk in last night, put our names down and get seated after 20 minutes. It was a busy night since it was raining, so outdoor seating was not an option. The decor is festive, the vibes are festive as well. The servers are nice and our food came out quickly. I got the el Nemo + lengua tacos, my partner got the chorizo taco and jefe taco. We also shared the nachos with al pastor. Everything was delicious, but my favorites were the lengua taco and El Nemo. Both were spot on with texture and flavor. We also enjoyed their sauces. I use to love it here. But something has changed the last few times have not been a good experience and for the price. I can go else where. I order 2 bowls with the tinga(chicken) One bowl came with out chicken. When I called I explained to them the situation and that offered a refund or for me to return for the chicken. So I chose the refund but then was immediately told that wasn't possible (they didn't even walk away to ask a manager). I offered to send a pictures and they told me that I could be lying. They said if they come in to prove it was true I could get a full refund and credit. So I drop in. When I got there they said they would only refund me for half my meal and I still haven't received credit. Ive never experienced this before. They were not busy. Their service was nice and quick though. We decided to eat outside since it was nice out. We were able to put in our orders pretty quickly too. Loved that. It didn't take long for our food to come either. I got tacos while my friends each got burritos. I don't have a photo but Da big papa... is huge. The food was fresh and delicious. The steak was a little peppery for my liking but still good (I'm very sensitive to black pepper). The al pastor was juicy and the pineapple really added to the flavors happening there. My only gripe is that the salsas were not very hot, even the one labeled extra hot wasn't much heat. Maybe just the peppers that batch was made with! I wanted a little more heat. My fiancé had a "build your own" bowl with steak and Al pastor, also delicious. They have two rice choices, a standard Mexican rice and an herbed tomatillo rice. He had the later- it was very good. I always utilize their online ordering system and my food always is done super fast, hot and always correct (this seems to be an issue at many places when ordering online so I was pleasantly surprised).
