Banana on a taco. Is it the pineapple pizza of the taco world?
    Mike F.

THE spot for tacos in West Reading. Frantic dining room and service. One of the best things to do here is try out new tacos based on name alone. On my last trip I got the El Fungi (sauteed portabella mushroom, poblano pepper, red onion, fresh pico, and avocado on a blue corn tortilla) and paired it with an El Brulee (pulled chicken, mole poblano, double crema queso fresco, brûlée banana, on a Nixtamal tortilla). I didn't even know the latter had banana until it arrived and placed down in front of me. Now, if I had not gone with my got and instead read through all of the ingredients thoroughly, I would have seen bananas listed and said, "No way, José." Instead, I chose to wing it wouldn't you know it, somehow someway those slices of banana just worked, and just like that, the El Brulee was the most exotic taco I had ever eaten. There are so many variations of tacos here that it demands repeat visits. Then when you factor in all the burritos, tapas, and line of Crunchy-dillas (seriously stuffed quesadillas), well, you just have to accept that it may not be possible to try everything on the menu in one lifetime. One non-taco standout is the habanero corn salsa. Dear lord did this knock my socks off. There is some serious heat, and it all lies in some sort of ground habanero extract that is dusted on top to form a fine, fiery layer. Not into spicy? They have you covered with a cool, refreshing pico de gallo and black bean mango salsa. This place is always bumping and attracts a lot of the late night bar crowd, keeping their doors open until 1am seven days a week. That's pretty much unheard of in West Reading. It's open later than most of the bars, which I guess is the point. Sadly, the only downside to this place is due to its popularity. At peak hours, it's an absolute madhouse. The lone hostess is usually running around like a crazy person, so when people arrive, it's not exactly clear what the seating situation is. It isn't seat yourself (other than the narrow bar that seats about seven people), so definitely don't do that. Patience is definitely needed here, but it's oh so worth it. The late night dining scene around here needed a shot in the arm, and what Comalli Taqueria has brought to the table is certainly a step in the right direction.

Comalli Taqueria is a whole vibe. The place is super clean and has this fun authentic Mexico feel with all the colors and the dim lighting. The inside is small but cozy and the outdoor seating is really nice if you want to hang out. The staff was super friendly and made me feel welcome right away. I went with the nachos with beef and chicken and wow it was a lot of food. Tasty filling and I even had leftovers to take home. Honestly I had a great time here. Good food good people and a fun atmosphere. 10/10 recommend!

Recommended by encrypted escape room staff, this authentic Mexican establishment represents the community well. Quality food . Great service. Wish they made their own drinks. A friend ordered nachos and it was a big quantity . Maybe I'll consider that next time but I had the el nepal (cactus) taco because I wasn't very hungry and it was a healthier taco with cactus as its base! It was well composed.

The food is delicious. You can really taste the lime and cilantro. The service was wonderful and friendly, great drinks. Lastly the ambiance is very welcoming and the art on the walls is beautiful. I will be going back.

My family ate lunch here recently while visiting from out of town. We loved everything we tried. The flavors were fresh and authentic. The al pastor taco was excellent. I also tried the creme brulee taco - it was unique and had surprisingly great flavor. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. There is a decent amount of indoor seating as well as a nice patio with outdoor seating. I have been following their Facebook page since my last visit to Reading over a year ago! The food was amazing! I am glad we made the stop and will definitely go back when we are in the area.

Comalli Taqueria We were driving through Pennsylvania, on our way to Kentucky, and decided to stop for some Mexican food for dinner. We were privileged to stumble across this authentic cuisine. The server Jackie couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. Everything tasted fresh. My wife is from Mexico, and she said they really know how to make great salsas.

First of all, I have to say the food is absolutely amazing. The service is impeccable as always!

Cute little Mexican spot. I think they have parking for like 2 cars other than that there's some street parking around. They also have limited inside and outside seating. Their service was nice and quick though. We decided to eat outside since it was nice out. We were able to put in our orders pretty quickly too. Loved that. It didn't take long for our food to come either. I got tacos while my friends each got burritos. I don't have a photo but Da big papa... is huge. The food was fresh and delicious. I would come back to try the other things off their menu. There was one thing that was a bit concerning. They had a big fan going on outside... one of the workers cleaning the tables in front of us sprayed the cleaner but because of the fan, it misted us. Maybe be a bit more aware.

The interior dining area is relatively small and clean, though I would not recommend it for large gatherings. I thoroughly enjoyed the "get that corn outta my face" and was thankful to have the option for it in a bowl (otherwise I wouldn't have tried it.) it was a unique blend of flavors and textures that had me questioning the first bite or two, but the more I ate it, the more I liked it. (If you get the bowl, I recommend stirring it up first to evenly distribute the ingredients.) Service was prompt and courteous when they brought each of the meals to our table. This is a counter style establishment, so that was appreciated. The theme of the restaurant focuses on the Nacho Libre movie (menu items named after key movie points) and other movies focused on luchadores. It is unfortunate that the thumb wrestling rings never returned to the tables following Covid. This is a fun and laidback place to grab a quick bite. I love the quirky atmosphere and the delicious food. My recommendation would be to go during down times so you can sit and enjoy the atmosphere without the wait.

Time to pull a quick 180. My last review praised this little Latin American/Caribbean joint because…read moreit was bold enough to say our town was over inundated by taco jawns. Also colloquially known as taquerías. And now I find myself just LOVING the P. Rosel for its tacos. Yes, we have a million kajillion taco shops in like a three mile radius. But they are all so freakin' good! I don't think having a million places that can dish out a top notch taco is necessarily a bad thing. I guess it gets kinda boring and redundant after awhile, but when you're craving a taco, it ends up being a blessing. Now, I know these tacos are authentic, because they are served with stuff that I would never expect to be served with a taco. Like, a side of cucumber slices? And sliced radishes? Also, we have legit Mexican cheese here. Queso fresco. No pepper Jack here. I think that's what most Americans put on their homemade tacos. Some sort of cheddar. Pepper Jack if they're feisty. That's about as exotic as they go when it comes to cheese. Ok, ok, they sometimes use feta. "Oh hey, I made a Greek salad! It's a mix of Romaine lettuce and fried chicken, croutons, and FETA CHEESE! TOTALLY GREEK!" In addition to a little taco sampler, I had snag some fajitas. Chicken was on the dry side, but I liked that they gave me a nice side of lettuce and pico de gallo. No sour cream, unfortunately. I'm serious about this - if you can find a Mexican place that serves a complimentary side of sour cream with fajitas or basically any entree, CHERISH THEM. Sour cream, as we we all know, as gone the way of guacamole. It's now a "premium" side that will cost you sometimes $1 or more. I'm pretty sure 10 years ago, restaurants were GIVING out sour cream because that shit sits in those commercial fridges so long, they NEED to give it away before it goes bad. But now we have to spend that stimulus money on those upsells that were once not a privilege, but a right. The last dish I got was the Molcajete Ranchero. I thought I knew what "Ranchero" meant until this stage in my life. It apparently doesn't have anything to do with ranch dressing. This is one of their specialty dishes. Or maybe they just have amazing SEO. But when I Googled "Molcajete Ranchero," Paraiso Rosel was the first hit. Sadly, I think they screwed up my order. On their website, the description says it's grilled nopal with a bunch of other stuff. What is nopal, you ask? Well, it's cactus leaves, duh. I feel like the cactus leaves would have added a whole other dimension. HAHAH, who am I kidding. I'm just complaining about the lack of something that I probably wouldn't have liked anyway. I'm complaining that something wasn't there, but if it was there, I'd complain about it because I would have thought the texture was "icky' or something. Now I know why restaurant owners pull their hair out when they read these reviews. Alright, so my final take. Would I order from here again? I mean, probably? As mentioned before, we just have so many really great Mexican restaurants. And for real for real, I want to try them all. So it takes a helluva lot for me to re-order from a place when in the back of my mind I want to try a new place. Like, my time on this earth is limited, you know? I have high blood pressure. I drink too much. There's people still walking around without masks. I could croak any minute. Now listen, if I lived within walking distance of this place, I'd go three times per week, easy. But a man's gotta live. I may never be back, but this was a meal I'll never forget (even if I never got to experience grilled cactus leaves).

Oh. My. Goodness. When I say this meal was life-changing, I'm not being dramatic…read more I was in Reading for work travel, and not super familiar with the food offerings in the area. I did a quick DoorDash search and came across this place. I've been wanting to try birria tacos after the recent surge in popularity (thanks, TikTok), so this seemed like a great opportunity to do so. I ordered the birria tacos with a side of rice. The delivery came super quickly and the food was still piping hot when it arrived. And my life was quickly changed. These tacos are INSANE. A super crispy corn tortilla filled with the most flavorful beef I have ever had. It's a complex flavor profile - sort of spicy, sort of sour, savory, salty, bright, DELICIOUS. And when you dip it in the consommé, which is provided complimentary on the side? Nirvana. I was absolutely stuffed, but I couldn't stop eating until I had totally cleaned my plate. The rice was also fluffy and tasty. I have tried to make my own birria tacos since this, but just can't replicate it. I'll definitely be eating here again as soon as I'm back in town.
