So one random day it was all about taco goodness and to find a place that does it right is something that makes me smile! It was all about the pastor quesadilla as it had just the right amount of flavorful meaty goodness mixed with some pineapple and then it had lettuce and tomato inside it making for almost like a torta which is something I don't believe I've had before in a quesadilla either way it was still delicious and totally hit the spot in every way! As for their tacos they too were yummy and just the way they should be even more so when I added some of they yummy salsa to them as you can always add more to make it hotter just the way I like it! I was craving tacos and saw this place had a 4.5 stars and was cheap so we decided to get food here. Its our first time coming and it was near the pagoda. We ordered 2 of each type of tacos and totaled to around $33. I thought it would be wrapped in a foam containers but it was wrapped in foils. The foils was burning hot. I have to preface by saying I moved here from California and the tacos just don't compare to authentic ones to me, even though this is 100% authentic Mexicans running this place. I find the flavors to be a bit bland, toned down for Americans who can't handle spice and flavor and this bothers me. Especially for their chicken and pork tacos which are my favorites. They're a bit pricey at almost $3 a taco but they come properly filled and topped with fresh cilantro and onions. I like that they use white meat chicken for the tacos and despite white meat being typically dry the tacos are juicy and lean. The pork tacos are not something I'm used to and both version of the pork tacos were the exact same except the pastor had pineapple? I expected them to be different and sad one isn't a pulled/carnita style but rather chopped crispy bits of pork. While very delicious this means they're also a bit dry and just don't seem as meaty and filling as the chicken or steak tacos do. The rice and beans are good sides, nothing special, but not bad. Their guacamole and salsas are amazing and I use them to flavor up the beans. I alway get guacamole from here because it's THAT good. Probably the best I ever had. Their horchata is amazing and the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing with the perfect kiss of cinnamon. Most places make theirs too sweet or too cinnamony but this is also the best horchata I've ever had, and I love that they give you a nice huge cup of it! It's a bit pricey but worth every cent! I also love the variety of drinks they have. A Mexican restaurant without Jarritos is just blasphemy and they have ALL the flavors here! Whoever is running this place kept the menu simple but with every necessity that should be on the menu and the food is always ALWAYS consistent for me whether I pick it up or order through Doordash. That's a big bonus for me and let's you know this place is run with love and care. So while they may not be my favorite tacos ever, they do have other things that are and the food is definitely the best in town. The service is also wonderful and consistent. You really can't ask for more from a restaurant. You won't be disappointed unless you've had tacos from California or Texas but even then, they're pretty darn good. read more

We were in the area to visit the Pagoda and wanted yummy Mexican food. I came to Yelp knowing we wanted the place the locals go to and this is it! The food is fresh and flavorful and made fresh. It takes a bit for the food to be ready but it's with it. Awesome portion sizes and just all around great. If we lived closer this would be our go to spot. There is a parking lot which is amazing. Bangin' tacos. Not the white people kind either. I write this as I sit here and I gotta take one star away for how long they take for carryout orders at night. They said 25 minutes, but it's been 40 minutes already. And it's the second time this happened. Tacos are still cheap and awesome; I usually hate cilantro and raw onions, but the flavors go perfectly with the tacos. Red/green sauces are a tasty addition. My friend got a $10 platter and really enjoyed it. My side of refried beans was generously portioned but a little bit bland. Free chips & salsa were fresh and delicious. First let me start by saying that it is so difficult to find good, genuine Mexican food in this area. Coming from Texas and SoCal, I have rather high expectations, so I get it. That being said, though, I LOVE Taqueria Jimenez. I love their food. The area is not as easy to get to now that I've moved out of the city, but it's still worth the trek here and there. The deduction in a star comes from the service. If you get your stuff to go, it's fine. A longer wait, but everything is made fresh, so it's forgivable. If you dine in, though, expect to wait quite a while for just about anything: drinks, napkins, refills, anything. Overall, still a great hole in the wall, though! read more

This location has wonderful food with many options to choose from my personal favorite from here are their pupusas and there huaraches they have amazing flavor and taste their food is made from scratch daily and the wait time is sometimes long due to all of the orders they get but it's worth the wait. We ordered several kinds of vegetarian and non-veg pupusas, that ended up being pretty dry, like they had come from the freezer--not much of the delicious juiciness that the non-veg tacos had! Lengua, pastor, and other meats were seasoned perfectly in soft, hot tortillas. That said, the cafeteria ambiance is not much to speak about. There's a wall between the cash register/open kitchen area and the dining room, so it's not easy to signal a server--you have to walk over if you need anything. Order and drinks taken. Never got the drinks, food arrived about twenty minutes later. Chips were empty about 5 minutes into the wait, never got any refills. Meals came, and had to ask for the water for a second time. 5 minutes into the meal she brings us bottles of water... Didn't even ask if we wanted bottled water. I'm here for work and the tap water is fine in reading. I got a steak fajita, nothing to write home about. The meat and veggies were hardly warm and didn't have much flavor. The food was amazing and such good quality. The prices were all really great too. Some places like to give you small portions of chicken or use dark and white parts of the meat to save costs but this place didn't. The enchilada was really filled with all white meat and seasoned well. The mole sauce had a nice kick to it. This is my favorite taqueria in Reading. Everything I've tried has been delicious. We always take our friends here to showcase the deliciousness that Reading has to offer. Personal faves include the revuelta pupusa, ceviche tostada, enchiladas, and any taco. It's Real Mexican food. Not Americanized. So it's good. I happened to find this place by accident while touring the old outlet area with my good friend and his family in my vehicle. My friend spotted the place and asked if we wanted to get some food from here. We agreed but ordered out because it was late and so happy that we did. My family along with my good friend and his family ordered Tacos. I have to admit they were the best tasting Tacos I have had in a long time. Super fresh ingredients and just so tasty. I ate them at our hotel since we were visiting Reading from NYC and NJ. Now after such a good experience I had to visit one more time before I went back home. The next day we came back and sat in for dinner. The waitress was super friendly and very attentive. She took our orders. Nine in our party. This time around we ordered Tortas (Milanesa de Bistec) and Tacos (Al-Pastor - pork with grilled pineapple)(Pollo- Chicken)(Bistec - Steak). Same results as before. The Tortas were DELICIOUS!!! This place just makes good food. The steak in the Torta was very tender. They used a good cut of meet which is a plus. They don't cut corners here. They use the best ingredients in their food. And you can taste it! Everyone in our family was happy with the taste of the food and service. After getting stuffed with the best food in town we had desert. Had some frozen fruit pops that are imported. Wow! They were delicious and use real fruit. We had Coconut (taste so good) and Tamarind (Tamarindo). Both pops were so good. Had it for the first time and was truly impressed. Watch out Ben & Jerry's! So in all the place was very clean, nice ambiance and friendly staff not to mention the great cook in the kitchen and best of all the food is not pricey.
