Our waitress was very nice!! The food was delicious ! We will go there again. My grandson enjoyed celebrating his 18th birthday there!! A large slice of their four layer chocolate cake was outstanding! I loved the shrimp enchiladas with cheese sauce!! read more

We tried this place for lunch a couple months ago; loved the salsa, cheese, dip, and margaritas! We got a burrito that was really really good(can't remember which one). The quesadilla wasn't the best and didn't have much cheese in it and to the waiters surprise-we didn't like the poblano rellano. We just went again for dinner but the salsa and cheese dip were different and not as good compared to the first time. We felt that the prices were high for the size of the servings. Not sure if we'll go back read more

Got the soup it's very good and the had real Mexican hot sauceses and the salads very good also newer place very clean limited menu no off menu items allowed as I asked twice better if u may order in Spanish nice interior. read more

Food was amazing . The staff was so kind and welcoming. Churros and fried ice cream for dessert -- 10/10.

Good food, friendly staff. I had the Salmon Glazed with Agave, a great blend of flavors and done perfectly in my opinion. My wife ordered a Chimichanga with shredded chicken, topped with cheesy sauce with Mexican rice, refried beans, lettuce and pico de gallo. It was a variation on the chimi recipies she loved when we lived in Arizona, but after the first few bites she fell in love all over again! Out server was Michael. He was upbeat and attentive without being intrusive. We'll look for him the next time, and there will definitely be a next time. read more

There's nothing worse than trying out a new restaurant and leaving feeling cheated & still hungry. The food was dry & tasteless & way over priced. It's a one & done experience.... Just happy that we didn't get food poisoning read more

Dined around 5 pm. Not crowded...3-4 tables taken. Ordered the Fajitas Alebrije. Served chips and salsa while I waited for my entree. Food came out steaming hot. Delicious. Service was excellent. Servers were very attentive. read more

The Al Pastor Tacos are delicious. Nice seasoning and bold favor. We just found this place a couple of weeks ago and it has reminders of home in So Cal. read more

In person is slow service but the food is worth the wait and the price. Take out was fantastic until revently they hired some N-Sync wanna be white boys who will push out an order early without making sure it's complete. Outside of them it's a 4-5 star review. Excellent margaritas. read more

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Always consistent and always good. My go to local Mexican spot.

Came here while in the area for work. Was very pleasantly surprised. Server was friendly, they provided complimentary chips and salsa that were fantastic and the food came out quickly and was very good. Food was flavorful decent amount of options for people to choose. I did the carne asada tacos and would recommend checking them out if you're looking for a good authentic style Mexican restaurant. read more

Delicious enchiladas! The food tasted fresh & wasn't greasy or heavy whatsoever. Great chips & salsa were also an added bonus!

The carnitas tacos may be the best kept secret. The flavor is beyond describable and the smokey spicy sauce that comes with it is the perfect compliment. The enchiladas verdes are a go to and getting a small side of guac with each entree is an unexpected delight. The fresh salsa with the chips is perfect blend of sweet tomato with the right amount of spice- still mild but you know its salsa! Takeout orders ready in 15 min even when the dining room is packed! read more

I got the chicken flautas and it comes With lettuce pico de Gaio and sour cream and it was crispy and delicious!!

Something has changed. Stopped in for dinner, we were given, menus, utensils, not a Hello, nothing. No one came back to our table, we were never acknowledged, looked at but never acknowledged. Waited a few minutes as 2 other tables, 1 of the groups came in after we sat down., where taken care of. Totally different atmosphere, have been going there for years. Needless to say we left. Very disappointing. I realize everyone is short staffed, this wasn't the case, and I am a very patient person. read more

I've been a loyal customer for years. Last week we ordered delivery through UberEats and almost our entire order was wrong. Ordered two chicken chimichangas - we received beef chimichangas. Ordered a kids meal quesadilla - received chicken nuggets and fries. We called and they said they would issue a refund which we still have not received. Another issue is that their website advertises curbside pickup. As I'm 38 weeks pregnant I do not want to risk catching COVID. When we called to order they said they do not do curbside at that location (seems like an easy process to implement). This is why we had to go the UberEats route in the first place. Would like resolution to this issue. Edited to add that the woman who took our phone call (Perkiomen Ave location) asked for our phone number and let us know that she would call us if there was any issue refunding us - never received a call. read more

Came for a late lunch on a quiet, snowy Saturday during an overnight stay in Reading while visiting family and was very impressed with the service, food and drinks. Friendly atmosphere and comfortable, cheery setting. Warm chips and flavorful salsa served right away. Fantastic frozen margaritas, ample sized and not too sweet and nice and strong. Best margarita I've ever had (and I've had hundreds) and just how like them--tangy, balanced and smooth. Great music too. Would love to come back or try other locations although we live about an hour away. The margaritas alone will be worth the trip! read more

Have been a loyal customer of this place for years and regularly get chicken fajitas. We dined there last night, and the fajitas had a few small pieces of chicken mixed in with almost all onions and peppers. I understand rising costs, however I believe for almost $20 there is still enough margin to give a normal portion of food. (The Mexican restaurant up the street still does) Disappointing. Service was good for plus one star. read more

Really good food and drinks. The guacamole "live" is a must. Everything I have ever ordered was very good! My favorite so far is the Molcajete Mar y Tierra but the Seafood Molcajete is also delicious. I love the chicken enchiladas too. The empanadas and chile rellenos are also delicious. My husband loves the pork dishes. All of the locations are terrific! This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Berks county. read more

I've been here maybe three times and each time I've had their Burrito California and it's been excellent. The mole pairs with Horchata perfectly and is not too sweet but just savory enough. It is an absolute shame I live an hour away from this place. read more

Excellent food. Terrific service. Nice ambiance. Clean everything. I love their tacos & Relleno.

I love this place SO much. I moved to the mainline and cannot find a Mexican restaurant that is comparable. Specifically, CHILE RELLENOS. No matter where I go they simply do not compare to the delicious ones they have here. Big poblanos, fluffy, oozing with cheese, and topped with a light but savory sauce. How do they do it? Anyways, the service here is always so friendly and accommodating, and I have never been disappointed by a menu item. I guess I'll just have to drive an hour to get good Mexican food! read more

Out of all the take out food that I've got during the Covid lockdown I'm compelled to share Alebrije is one of the best. I think it's the style of food travels well in styrofoam container. Burgers, wings, hot sandwiches etc. get soggy and the disappointment of these types of food is such a bummer. I have only ordered from alebrije a few times and the food has been amazing. When the restaurant was open the service, food and prices were great. read more

The service here is fantastic! You will be hard-pressed to find a more attentive wait staff and server. Also, they recently remodeled and it looks amazing and very bright/clean. Well done! The prices are reasonable for your typical Mexican cuisine. $12-15 burritos and the like. The food arrives quickly and hot. The portions are rather small but you do get unlimited chips and salsa. If you want, there is a nice bar with some specialty mixed drinks and beers. Overall, it is a wonderful place to eat some rather quick Mexican that won't break the bank. read more

I used to go here all the time when it was BYOB and more like the former Bojangles inside. They have significantly revamped the interior to be more cozy, with a bar in the front corner. Berks County now has three of these restaurants, I believe. Not too much for vegetarians, but there is always chips, salsa, and guacamole. The beans are not cooked with meat, but I forgot to ask about the rice, which came with cheese on top even though we asked to skip it. I eyed the spinach enchilada, but the greens are cooked in butter. About the only choice for vegans is the fajitas, which is a massive portion, and ask them to skip the cheese and sour cream. We brought our own non-dairy sour cream and got extra guacamole to add, and I found them fresh and delicious this way. Did not check out the bar menu, but there was dry wine, so that was enough for me. Pleasant staff were willing to split checks (sorry!) and sit for a bit with our large group. read more

Tried this place for the first time and enjoyed it. Food tasted great and delivery time wasn't terrible. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and the chicken was slightly dry but it didn't ruin the dish for me. Sides and everything were great too! Will be ordering from them again. read more

Consistently great Mexican food! I've been here many times with friends, family, and coworkers -- Alebrije never disappoints. The free chips & salsa are fresh and flavorful. The tacos are good. The enchiladas & refried beans are my favorite! The quesadillas, soup, and taco bowls are also enjoyable. Menu has a wide variety of options and a good selection of drinks, too. Service is always fast and friendly, and prices are very reasonable. Very bright, pretty interior. Lunch specials are definitely worth a try. read more

I kinda wanted to give it 3.5 stars because the food really is quite good, and I eat there regularly. They have excellent tortilla soup, very good chilaquiles, and some tasty burrito choices. The place has been around for 6-7 years now and puts out some consistent and affordable food. Most entrees are just under 10 bucks, and few are over 12. On the negative side, the menu is getting kindof boring. They used to have specials once in a while, but that seems to have stopped. Also, I've discovered some additional Mexican choices in the Reading area that are somewhat better. Although it's moved down in my rotation a bit, I'm a fan for the consistent food, good prices, and friendly fast service. read more

Tried this place for the first time today, and didn't like it. The food I had was not even close to spicy, and lacking in flavor. The shrimp gobernador smelled fishy and didn't taste good, either. Enchiladas were OK but nothing special. Food is pricey given the quality. I'd expect better than Taco Bell level quality at this price point - and to be honest I think Taco Bell is better. Service was OK, as was the restaurant's interior. I won't be back. read more

If former Pizza Huts everywhere closed down and were replaced with Alebrije's, I would be a happy plump little man! I can't believe I lived by this place for years, and finally stopped in, it is a perfect spot for Mexican, no frills high quality Mexican food joint. Not sure how big their menu was in the past, noticed on other reviews that they cut their menu back. I must say I am impressed with the shear size and selection of the menu. No need to order an appetizer because you get a healthy dose of chips and salsa, however we did order some guacamole (as a more mild option for my wife), this was freshly made and and different flavor (almost like a hint of bacon?). I ordered the Alebrije Fajitas (I thought this would be a good way to start my experience) it includes chicken, steak, shrimp on a sizzling hot plate with onions and peppers. It also comes with a plate that has pico, guacamole, lettuce, and a Spanish rice. I must admit, I was not a fan of the steak on the plate, they were tough little strips of meat, however the shrimp and chicken were delicious. Actually come to think of it, I never had a steak fajita that I enjoyed, I guess the cuts of steak are usually cheap for those types of dishes, so do not use me as a gauge. I heard other people like the steak fajitas here. Another good option is when you can get a cerveza (beer) while eating your Mexican food. My wife ordered a mojito and was pleasantly surprised. Some areas I think they can step up the game a little, being in a former pizza hut does not mean it needs to look that way, the tables and ambiance of the place is a little dated and cheap looking (I can live with this, however some people cannot handle this). Speaking of the ambiance, I was surprised that music was not playing in the place. I think adding some music would be a nice additive. I think the yelper J.F. said it best "Decor is not as nice as their other locations, but we go there to eat, not admire the stuff on the walls." Bottom line, if they can keep their prices reasonable, then I am fine with the ambiance. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant for Mexican food! The prices are affordable, the food is delicious, and it's a fun atmosphere! Immediately after being sat at a table a server will bring you complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is generally medium spice and the chips are absolutely addicting. You may ask for a refill on either throughout your meal, that is in the rare occasion that they haven't already provided you with one. Fore warning, if you do chose to order the queso dip at an additional price for your chips, be warned that it's white cheese and not orange...surprisingly it tastes fabulous! More times that not I order the chicken and steak fajitas. My mom also loves the fajitas, and they have a menu options for a double order if you plan to share, it is at a better price than ordering two of the same. The meat and veggies come out sizzling on a skillet and you are able to build your own fresh fajita at the table. There is not an item on the menu that will disappoint. My dad loves their combination menu options where you are able to order one enchilada and one taco, one taco and one empanada, or pretty much any combination of what exactly you want. The service is very speedy! Sometimes the servers can disappear at the end of your meal, so you may need to track your waitress down for the check. Overall, it is a great place for quick, decent, Mexican food, or just good Mexican food in general. read more

Best Mexican food in town! Very friendly people . Service is always great . Mixed fajitas are the best

Wow, what a dirty restaurant! After waiting several minutes for a server I walked to the restroom. There was toilet paper, paper towels, and water all over the bathroom. There was grime on the bathroom stall door and the trash can step was broken so you had to touch the lid underneath the paper towels someone else left. I would have left then but was there for a birthday dinner. The food was mediocre and overpriced. As I ate I looked around and saw paper, chips, etc. underneath the tables and on the rugs near bathrooms. There were several servers folding napkins the ENTIRE time we were there but no one was ever cleaning. Again, the California burrito and shrimp/chicken/beef (tough) was ok but the ambience was crummy. How do you ruin a kid's birthday dinner? read more
