Gonna keep this one pretty simple. It's a small Mexican store and restaurant. No thrills, just a handful of tables. Luckily I went with a reoccurring patron, otherwise I wouldn't have known you get called back to the counter (where you order and have a seat) to grab your food and condiments. The tacos were good, but not amazing. I prefer those I've found on Oley Street, as the pricing is better there as well. I also felt the shells were a little drier than those spots. I wouldn't be in a rush to go back since there are so many other options, but again, not bad. read more

If you're not used to the area, this spot will be off the beaten path, but just like Lewis and Clark going out of their way to explore unknown land, this place is well worth your time. Go ahead and get a torta that'll blow your damn mind. Order 5 tacos then order 5 more cause 5 ISNT ENOUGH! Finish up your food then go into the store it's connected to if you're trying to up your damn game with some cowboy boots and liters of Mexican soda. Hidden gems like El Puente aren't discovered enough in Reading. If you're looking for L.A. style street Mexican food, this place serves some killer chorizo and carne asada burritos for...wait for it...$1.50 per taco. The meat was tender and well seasoned. And included are hearty self-servings of their family's guacamole recipe, which is less chunky than the traditional guac you're used to but it masterfully permeates every nook and cranny of each overstuffed taco. Paired with their delicious homemade horchata, you're in for a real treat all for under $5. Like most taco shops, the inside is pretty basic but has plenty of seating.The convenient side parking lot makes the whole experience that much more accessible and justified for a future visit. read more

Tamales everyday right at counter in pot. Best around. I can say much else about the place because I get tamales.

Everything I've had is great authentic Mexican cuisine. Never disappointed. Seasoned just right. Salsas are on point.

I absolutely love this place. Not only do they have a store but they a restaurant attached also. You can get all authentic Mexican snacks and food, and you can get authentic Mexican made food. My favorite is their tacos. While they are making my tacos, I like to roam and shop at the grocery part. Best Mexican spot I know. Couldn't give it 5 stars due to where it's located. It's located in a pretty ghetto area. You have to be careful how to get in and out of the parking lot because of blind spots. read more

This place is so, so, so legit. To quote Michael C.: a hidden gem. The kind of thing that makes me wish I wrote more 1- and 2-star reviews to help boost my 5-star credit. I mean it with this one. My fiance dragged me out of the depths of unemployment-driven indolence (or is it the other way around?) to join him for lunch here in town one day. The wait isn't bad (we had no trouble getting seats at noon, though it could fill up easily). Wow. The closest thing I had to this in NYC was that taco place on 10th ave. the foodies love. SO CHEAP. SO GOOD. Incredible salsa verde. They grow all the veggies and herbs out in a little garden behind the store. I had the chicken and the carne asada tacos. went there today on my lunch break & ordered 3 tacos (chicken, asada, pork) to go. all 3 were great but if i had to choose i'd say chicken was the best. the facility itself isn't the shiniest gem in the booty but the food is the real treasure & i didn't go there to eat off the floor. (apologies for the pirate speak) the parking lot can get a little dicey during busy hours so i would recommend just pulling up to the curb. some people will complain about the location & local patrons but those people are probably afraid to venture into any Mexican establishment less boujie than a Chipotle. don't be a wuss, walk on in & give El Puente a try. i'll add pictures of the new menu. read more

Great little place I eat here once a week and the food is always great the price of their tacos can't be beat but you do have to watch out for the peppers on the counter they are really hot. they make their own tortillas right next door so everything's made in-house.For sure one of the best Tacos around. read more

This is my first review ever. I travel for work and looking for good places to eat is important, as is authenticity when eating Mexican food. Coming from San Diego, the Carne asada capital of probably the world, I know a thing or two about Carne asada. I are here yesterday after seeing good reviews about the authenticity of the food. I was excited, until my tacos arrived. I looked down at my plate to see meat that was either old or way over cooked. But that didn't stop me from giving them another opportunity. I went back today and ordered just a straight carne asada burrito. Again the meat came looking old and/or over cooked. When I approached the lady at the counter to point this out she actually tried to give excuses as to why it looked like that, including that it was probably due to the meat needing to be "toasted". Now, I know I ordered carne asada not "toasted" carne so I told her to just throw away what I had left as I couldn't even enjoy it. If you live here maybe that is acceptable but, like I said, I come from carne asada land and it was absolutely not acceptable. read more

Food is very good. I've been coming here for yrs and Ive never been disappointed. When I'm in town this is my place of choice for sopes! They're amazing! Reminds me of the grocery stores that I would visit while on business in Mexico City except cleaner and much friendlier. Best Chirizo sausage in the tri state area. The side restaurant sells tacos, burritos and the such and are really good.... cant beat +- $5.00 for a steak burrito.... a couple of tables thrown into a small side room and you feel like you are part of the family.... give it a try - you will LOVE it!!! read more
