The spritzer flight was delicious, my favorite of the four was the Aperol Spritz (a little sweeter and less bitter than other places) and the Raspberry Spritz. The Hugo was very refreshing and Limoncello was unfortunately not my favorite, but the other three made up for it and then some! The cheese curds were crunchy and came with a delicious ranch sauce for dipping, and the big pretzel was huge, salty and doughy- the cheese sauce was good with it but we also tried the honey mustard my son got with his chicken fingers and liked that combo even more! For my lunch I had a burger off the day's specials menu, it was the "A1 Burger" which was cooked perfectly and made better by the A1 inspired aioli, Gouda cheese, etc. The fries were good and crispy. I very rarely give a one-star rating but this was richly deserved. First things first. At an outside table, the drinking glasses were placed rim-side down. I don't care how clean you think the tables are, an outdoor table is not sanitary enough for that. There was no bread served either pre-meal or with the meal which is not an absolute must but certainly a nice thing at a predominantly Italian restaurant. We got the chicken parmesan and lasagna, two of the safest things on which you should be able to gauge the quality of a restaurant's abilities. Both were served lukewarm (barely above room temperature) with a barely melted slab of mozzarella plopped on top. The chicken in the parmesan was burnt; not overdone, burnt. It also had some gristly, cartilage bits. The lasagna had so little meat it could have passed for vegetarian. The service was pretty bad as well. I was stung by a bee (my fault for not moving when I noticed an active bee hive near our table) and when my wife went to ask the waiter to help us move tables she practically had to tap him on the shoulder as he was staring intently at his phone and didn't notice her approaching. The food was so bad we opted not to take home the pretty large portions we chose not to eat because they were so bad. Just a terrible experience on every level.

My friends wanted to order more drinks, but because she did not come around as frequently as we would have liked, they were unable to place another order. When we arrived we told the waiter that we were celebrating our mother's 93 birthday. The waiter took our orders. Mom ordered filet mignon and the lobster bisque soup. Other family members ordered French dip, lobster BLT and the salmon. The lobster bisque was not fresh and had no flavor. The soup was luke warm and had a film on the top. The bacon on the lobster was also stale and fatty. But the worst part was Mom's meal which came with no sides and the waiter never offered her any sides to choose from even if they would be at an additional cost. She struggled to chew the meat. It was tough and fatty. The waiter cleared the plates and Mom told him that the meat was not good. His response was that she should have alerted him earlier and that he would have made it right. He said he would see what he could do compensate for the bad experience. However, nothing was offered or even mentioned after that. We ordered her carrot cake which came with no candle despite the waiter knowing it was her birthday. We were very surprised to have had such a bad experience at the Clinton House because in the past the food has always been good. The restaurant was empty which was also surprising for a Sunday lunch. The bill was over $300 including tip for 4 people. We had only 2 glasses of wine and 2 desserts. Quite expensive for a lousy meal and experience. Do better!

From the Taylor ham, provolone and fried egg sandwich on that FRESH Kaiser roll to the omelette with those delicious home fries and my PEACH PANCAKE . . . . all of it was their special take on breakfast served their way.
