This is our second time coming in. Food is good and service is pretty quick. We came on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't too busy. I had the chicken quesadilla for a meal and it was a good size portion, lot of filling, I wasn't able to eat all of it. Hubby had a cheeseburger and fries, burger cooked perfectly. When your air conditioner is broken and it's mid summer, it's not great customer service to seat people without a warning that there's an issue. Only after ordering and asking the server to adjust the room temperature we were told 'oh yeah, the air conditioning is broken'. Do better management. The food was good but sitting in that environment was so uncomfortable were couldn't enjoy it, just wanted to leave. Visited Riley & Jake's for the first time recently on a pretty busy night and enjoyed our food and time there. We met the owner and he was super friendly. We had a very nice waitress (Anna) who was helpful in making suggestions too. We tried the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer and I really liked the crunch along with the flavor of the sauce. I had the Brie and bacon burger (retrospectively I sort of wish I had tried the pretzel burger). My burger was cooked well and as requested. My spouse had the buttermilk chicken sandwich - and he liked it (he hopes to try the crab cakes when we visit again). My one suggestion (if possible in that space) is that they might add a few seats up front for those who might need to wait a while for a table - though it does seem you may be able to go to the bar if you want to wait there and sometimes you can get served a meal faster if you eat at a table in there too. Overall, a quaint family-feel type of place that I would visit again. read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had driven past this place a thousand times years ago when I used to drive a lot for work. When we walked in, there were only a few other tables occupied and there were a few patrons at the bar. Our waitress, Danielle, was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the angus burger (medium well) with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and (red) onion while my wife had the caesar salad. The burger was made perfectly. The fries were hit-or-miss. They were very skinny (almost shoestring), some were crisp while others were limpy. They do have a decent beer selection, including some local breweries (Buttzville, Lone Eagle, Sunken Silo). The interior seemed a bit on the darker side for being the middle of the day. It's a bit out of the way for us considering The Rail and Finnagel's are less than 15 minutes from our house, so I'm not sure how long it'll be before we try them again. read more

Finally made to Riley & Jake's. They offer classic pub fare and they're well known for their jerk wings so we came to give them a try. They were very tasty and are a nice size but not a real traditional jerk flavor. I'd definitely come back to try out the buffalo style. I LOVED the presentation of the chopped salad and appreciated the frizzled onions on top. It came out nice and cold. My husband enjoyed the French onion soup. Our kids are obsessed with that soup so we plan on bringing them back whenever they get a craving. Our waitress was very friendly and our food came out quickly. My only complaint is that the place needs an update on the interior. I realize it's an older building but the decor and lighting looks to be from the early 80s. Could be nostalgic to some but it's a turn off for me. read more

First time here. Great restaurant. Very friendly staff. The bartender was super friendly. We ordered the small nachos with beef which were really good. Tons of beef. Ordered the French dip and Angus burger. French dip was on point. The garlic bread and aus jus made for a really delicious sandwich. Substituted the fries for sweet potato. Best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Crispy and not burnt at all. Angus burger was cooked perfectly and the thin McDonald's like fries were very good. Came here last night to take a friend out for her Birthday! The place has a cool vintage vibe about it. Our server was friendly and awesome! I had the Turkey w stuffing and mashed potatoes while my friend had the black bean burger. After dinner we shared the flourless chocolate cake! We discovered Riley and Jake's last summer and whenever we want dinner out it's always our 1st choice! We bring new friends and old and it's become their favorite to the point some drive an hour to meet us. The food is consistent and so tasty. From their Bacon, Brie burger to ribs to my all time favorite, Shrimp & Crab Scampi over pasta, we've never been disappointed. The owner, manager, and wait staff are the best around. As a former restaurant owner we know 1st hand what goes into a thriving restaurant. I love ALL the waitresses but I have to say Grace & Melissa go out of their way to make us feel special. I've been coming here for a couple of years ever since I started selling Toyota's in Clinton. The food and service has been consistently great. I usually get a burger and fries or seared ahi sashimi tuna salad . The beer selection is good too. Thankfully they have indoor seating again. Went to R&J's for Sunday afternoon lunch after a few people recommended it. We got burgers and sandwiches that were decent. Our waitress was attentive and helpful - great service. Unfortunately the hostess created a negative experience right from the start. We arrived with a baby and the place was basically empty (it was early for lunch). We requested a booth but we're denied because the hostess "couldn't block the way" with the high chair...the way would not have been blocked and there were chairs in the same "way blocking" location. The whole thing made no sense and dealing with that hostess was difficult. It was one of those things where arguing wouldn't be helpful but we knew instantly we would never go back and won't recommend this place to network. The one thing we struggled with was the ambiance. It's quite dark inside. The space could use some updates. Most of the overhead lights were burned out and the carpet (yuck!) was dingy. With inflation on the rise and everything getting more expensive it's really hard to find a good value these days. Riley and Jake's has you covered with some classic and unique takes on traditional American food, in decent proportions for a decent price. The staff are always courteous and when we do takeout it's quick and efficient, by the time I've signed the receipt someone else is holding my bag out for me with a smile. There's an on-site bar if that's your thing and I've spent some hours there back when it's was under previous management but not since Riley and Jake's took over. It always sounds like a happy crowd in there for what it's worth. Plenty of seating away from the bar for families as well so don't avoid it for that reason. Special shout outs to the pretzel burger. You simply can't go wrong. fish and chips usually nice and crispy (but not always.. wish I knew which chef to ask for when I want it done right). I'm not gonna hold that one time against them though after so many other successful orders. read more

It has been nearly seven years since my wife and I last dined here. We decided to do so without our college-age kids so we could do a more objective review. My wife and I both started with soup, she had the french onion and I had the cajun chicken and sausage. They were served in quick order by Riley, who I believe is one of the namesakes, but don't hold me to that if my belief is not true. The french onion soup was fresh and flavorful, although my wife said it could have been a tad hotter. I was a little concerned that the cajun chicken and sausage soup may have been too spicy after ordering it, but I found it to be well seasoned and chock full of chicken and sausage in a slightly thick broth. My wife had the fish and chips, which I sampled. The fish was battered nicely and cooked properly. The fries were a little overdone to my liking, but my wife liked that they were shoestring size. She also liked the cole slaw very well. I had the hot turkey sandwich which was served open faced on white bread. The turkey was good, but more of a deli variety than straight off a bird. The potatoes were good and the gravy was flavorful. The restaurant had a good crowd of what I assume would be regulars. The interior is a bit dark and dated, but is clean and orderly. The menu is not overwhelming, so I believe that they only serve things that they are confident with. I respect that. We will return and try some different offerings. How can R&Js have fewer than 4 stars?! Yelp reviewers must be plants because R&Js is fantastic on their worst day. I've been there a dozen times, their staff is a well oiled machine.; If it's crowded, they handle it no problems. If something isn't right, they fix it. Once I received a tough filet, waitress overheard me complaining, to right to my wife in a quiet whiney sort of way.... The waitress stepped in and stepped up and made it right!!. Just speak up if they ask .... Much better than whining.... ( they do have wine ) read more
