I cannot understand people who complain about the prices here. Perhaps they haven't eaten out in the last 10 years or so. We got a specialty breakfast with a side of nice crispy bacon, a coffee, a very large deluxe Rt. 31 Burger (burger with Taylor ham on it) with fries and two big pieces of cake for under $50. Way more food than we could eat. The waffle with Nutella and bananas was crispy with the exact right amount of both toppings. The burger was very large, juicy, and cooked expertly to the medium rare I asked for. The fries were standard diner fries and cooked well. The chocolate cake was nice and fudgy. About 2 months ago we went to have breakfast. Weve always gone there. Loved it. My husband and i both ordered omelettes. We both had hair in our orders. I know it wasnt ours. I have long curly hair and my husband has short gray hair. It was actually cooked into it. Gross! Haven't been there in 2 months thought we'd try it again and the food was good but i ordered a 7 layer cake, ate some then put a piece in my mouth and i feel something poke my gum and Gross again it was a toothpick!! Ordered Togo and I got a cheese burger deluxe and the meat had no seasoning very bland. Asked and was charged for disco fries but did not get them. I also got a slice of cheese cake with strawberries. The cheesecake was strangely runny and wet. The strawberries had visible white mold. I'm pregnant and didn't want to run the risk of ingesting the mold so I can't comment on the cheesecakes flavor. This was my first and last time trying this restaurant. This was my 1st eatery to visit when I started my new job in Washington. I'm a diner junky and have been to many in NJ so I have to say I'm a proclaimed expert... I'm so glad I stopped here. Breakfast is my favor meal. So, this place has a great old time diner feel. Good coffee. Well prepared omelette and home fries. Good rye bread toast. Waitress was very nice. Food came out fast. TV's at the counter. AND THEY MAKE POTATO PANCAKES!!! You don't see that at diners!!!! It's not as great as grandma's but worth ordering!!!! They key is to tell them WELL DONE..... It's a pretty good diner in the area. A staple of ours for Sunday breakfast. They often burn the eggs and that's the only drawback as the pancakes are great. So are the waffles. The sides are good portions and are generally cooked as requested. They know us by face since we are there almost every Sunday so I've noticed over the past year they seat us very quickly. I give them five stars because I feel they deserve it. Just be forewarned. If you don't specify to not cook your eggs until they are brown, they probably will come burnt. read more

I've no complains about the food. It tasked pretty good. Service was awesome. Servers showed up right on time at our table. Food was served very quickly. Ample parking available when we went (1pm on a Saturday). After the food I went to mens room, which was terrible state. Even the ones in NYC are far better than this. I almost threw up. Started with New England Clam chowder. Lunch specials include soup and entree and desert. Very tasty soup. Chicken Pot pie was awesome. Filled and tasty. Also the filling was not salty. The pasry crisp and flakey. The salad that comes with the spinach pie had anchovies and was wonderful. For $10.95 the included deserts were numerous. Bread pudding was more 'cakey' than 'bready' but was very good. Carrot muffin was huge. Too much food to eat it now so took it and part of the entree home. All in all we will be back. We love eating here, the manager runs a tight ship, always greets diners with a chipper attitude. The salads are pretty good, particularly the buffalo chicken salad and Greek salad. Sometimes the chicken on the salad is a little over cooked but not always. Dessert is a treat, a dizzying array of cakes and baked goodies. I wish I lived near this or the sister Flemington-Raritan Diner. Used to be the place to go to for an inexpensive decent meal. Somewhere along the line they lost the flavor component. I think very little (other than breakfast) is fresh. It's all probably frozen or canned. If you go, just get coffee and an egg. read more

The girls that are working are always doing a great job, now with them working outside , they are hustling more to get your food , which comes fast. I never had a problem with the food or the staff. Probably my favorite diner, and no not just for this area I mean in the state that's known for the best diners. I've never had a bad meal or experience here, the staff is always friendly and attentive making sure everything is just as you want and if you need a refill but not overbearing. The food is always on point and cooked to order, special requests are always accommodated with no hesitation. The management is always working and hustling and leading by example. Absolutely brutal food. Soup was cheap canned stuff, sitting so long with rice in it was mush. I Got a chicken wrap, the cook (not chef) made the wrap and THEN grilled it again, the lettuce was wilted, hot,soggy and dripping. Chicken was cut but still attached because it was stringy. It came with cole slaw which was huge pieces and bland. All around it was crappy diner food. Our server was nice and attentive but when she noticed we didn't eat the food she just threw it away rather then ask what was wrong.
