Our daughter got married last weekend at Perona Farms and I highly recommend this venue. They were fabulous to work with, great communicaiton with all contacts and the day of event went off beautifully. Alish and Heather were a dream to work with and made the bride feel so comfortable throughout the night. Our guests enjoyed the delicious food, and venue. It made a special event in our lives even more special. Highly recommend having your wedding at Perona Farms. Half the crowd came in from California and they were blown away by the food, drinks and space.

Chateaubriand of Beef with a Black Garlic Rosemary Reduction & Pistachio Crusted Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce

I attended another wedding here and the reception was inside this time. It was very spacious, and the cocktail hour also extended to the outdoor patio. A lot of the same food I had previously was present at the cocktail hour, but there were some additions I tried such as sushi, sliders, and pesto gnocchi. There had to be about 20 or so different types of sushi rolls. It was an excellent cocktail hour. The first course was a Jersey girl burrata with heirloom tomato, and basil. This was excellent. The burrata was creamy and the tomato was very fresh. The salad consisted of greens, shaved root vegetables, and fresh herbs with a white balsamic dressing. Again, this seemed extremely fresh. There was just enough dressing on my particular dish. For the main course, it was a duet plate that contained chateaubriand of beef with a black garlic rosemary reduction and pistachio crusted salmon with lemon butter sauce. There was also a side of caramelized garlic mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. The beef was cooked to a perfect rare temperature with plenty of flavor. The black garlic was very powerful, but not too over powerful where it was a problem. The salmon was a little dry, but the pistachio crusted helped a little bit. The potatoes and vegetables were tasty too.

I chose this venue to have my sisters bridal shower. We reserved the reserve room and had access to the outside courtyard as well. This place is absolutely gorgeous! The grounds are amazing and well maintained. Kellen helped with the planning process and ensured we had everything set up that was discussed, she was very responsive. Our matradee Kelly was an absolute delight! Anything we asked for she was able to provide. Including placing fresh flowers on the cake. The room was set to perfection. The food was also delicious! It was a brunch buffet that included fresh baked bread, chopped garden salad, bowl of grains, braised short ribs, chicken cacciatore, asparagus, fingerling potatoes, penne w/vodka sauce, eggs Benedict with spinach, fresh waffles with blue berry compote and fresh cream, a charcuterie board with fresh fruits with meats, cheeses, nuts. We added on the mimosa bar and had mimosas at the table. Tea, coffee, juices, sodas, were also included. They have the best chai and earl grey lavender tea. The cake was also very delicious and included in the price. It was a vanilla cake with strawberries and cream. The cost for the brunch was $48 per person plus a 22% service charge, NJ state tax, and gratuity. The mimosa bar was $8 per person. Minimum guest count is 30 adults. We also had a cash bar if people wanted to get anything else to drink. The service was exceptional! I highly recommend this venue for your special occasion!

Came here for an absolutely beautiful wedding. Somehow, despite it raining miserably all day, they maintained their charm.

My fiancé and I came here on a Sunday both to check out the brunch and to take a look at the venue for our wedding. We started out with the brunch; I made reservations well in advance and we were seated right away. I highly recommend making a reservation, it gets pretty busy. The brunch is a little overwhelming just because of the sheer choice and the disappointment of not being able to try it all (not enough space in my stomach unfortunately). It's a pretty traditional American buffet-style brunch. I wasn't blown away but the food but that is to be expected when a place is cooking in such huge quantities. My favorite item was definitely the fresh-made apple cider donut. Their cocktail sauce for the shrimp was also one of the best I've ever had. As far as the venue is concerned, it's gorgeous. The Barn looks exactly like what it looks like in photos. It photographs so well and really effortlessly at that. I also liked that their wedding packages are pretty inclusive so that you don't have to worry about too much DIY on your big day; seems like they cover a lot of it for you. If you want a more traditional space, I definitely recommend looking at The Reserve.

Nowadays, I feel like everyone is getting married in a barn. I can't blame them for it! The whole rustic Pinterest vibe is chic and adorable, and makes for a stunning wedding backdrop. Perona Farms has two different options for wedding. You can have your reception in their standard indoor ballroom, or opt to have your wedding in the actual barn. After seeing both areas, I'm really glad that the wedding was in the barn, which was way more picturesque. The barn has got two levels. Downstairs for the cocktail hour, and upstairs for the actual reception. The cocktail hour area is Pinterest on Pinterest. Chalkboards to write the bride and grooms name, long wooden benches and light up signs that say LOVE. It's a big open air area, and is perfect for mingling with some food and a drink in hand. There is also an adjacent outdoor area with a fire pit! Now, onto the reception area. Hot dangggggg. It's gorg up there. High arched ceilings, dim purple lighting, and long ornately decorated tables for guests. There is an area in the back to mingle by the bar and a dance floor area in the front by the DJ booth. My one complaint is that the dance floor is kind of small, but it's well worth the sacrifice to get the stunning room. Perona also has on premise catering and the food is really yum! Loved the feta watermelon salad and the fresh smoked sausages at the cocktail hour, and for our main we had dijon salmon and prime rib. This is a great spot for a rustic wedding, highly recommend!

I had my parents surprise 60th party here last month. It was a hit. Every server I had on that party was AMAZING. Karline was an amazing captain and made sure my parents got their drinks and took the weight off my sister and my shoulders. I keep getting compliments from my guests on the service, the party, and the food.

The food and drink for the cocktail hour to the main dinner all worked well. For the wedding I attended, they had different stations in the downstairs area that represented different experiences in the couple's lives together. For instance, one station you were on the boardwalk with burgers and dogs, and at another one you were in Germany or Italy. I think the one thing I do not understand is parking. Getting there early I had zero problems, but the lot seems very small for an event place.

I attended a wedding at Rock Island Lake Club. What do I enjoy most at a wedding? You guessed it,…read morethe reception. The reception was a hit with me. It was highlighted by an open bar that ran from 7pm to 1am and featured 24 draft beers, premium liquors (Gray Goose and Maker's Mark as examples), wines and cordials. The food was excellent as well. They had various stations setup featuring such items as Cuban sliders, Italian & Mediterranean dishes, seafood with clams & oysters, cheese bar and a charcuterie boat. Waiters walked around throughout the cocktail hour offering various hors d'oeuvres.I found most of the alcoholic offerings paired well with all the cuisines offered. As for the main course, There were 4 choices and I selected the braised lamb shank. The waiter told me it was her favorite. It was delicious. You might ask me why the 4 STARS and not 5. One reason is the loud music. The DJ turned up the volume to the point of having to shout at people when conversing. I enjoy conversation and it was not really possible. Low ceilings mad it a lot worse. I went out to the balcony which overlooked a beautiful lake and colorfully lit fountain just to get away from the noise. Additionally, I do not like valet parking and prefer to drive my truck. You can select parking your own vehicle. Long tables make it hard to talk to everyone at the table and finally, they have a series of garage doors that enclose the reception area in case of rain. REALLY! Oh, yeah! The wedding vows were nice too.

We said wedding. Was told they were not Valeting the wedding. To park across street and walk over.. It was 40 degrees, very windy and snow on ground. But yeah let's walk all dressed up in heels across the street to get to the venue. 2. No idea where to go - we walk in and there were security folks there. We stood there looking around, saying OK so where do we go... The security guys just stood there and nobody would answer us. We had to figure out for ourselves that we had to go up the stairs to the cocktail hour. 3. Cocktail hour.. you have over 150 ppl and we are in a room with 3 high tops and 1 bar packed in like sardines. Find out there is another room with food but have to walk on boardwalk in cold, wind and snow to the tent. That is packed. Heaters in there but still freezing. 4. Reception.. gorgeous room but the bar is in another room, and we were constantly asked to move cause the servers had to walk across dance floor with trays of food. It is a beautiful place but it's has a horrendous set up for events like a wedding or prom.

He apologized for my…read moreexperience and took the position that "unfortunately their Regular Security Guard had called out sick...and well some parties get out of hand...but we are top rated with Holiday Inn...Sorry no can't comp you a free night, besides we're fully booked". Way to drop the ball--i originally gave 2 stars for the Sales Manager who took ownership & immediately refunded my first two nights stay and delivered a hand written apology note. I'm currently staying at this Holiday Inn while my father is in hospice care, and although the property itself is new, clean, and nicely updated with decent amenities, my experience has been extremely disappointing. This hotel caters to large wedding parties, many of whom treat the building as a second party venue rather than a hotel. Despite being assigned to the "quiet floor" and being warned at check-in about potential noise, my first night included what felt like a full-blown frat party in the hallway. After a sleepless night, I suggested the hotel consider simple courtesy signage--similar to what some bars use--to remind guests to respect others as they return to their rooms. This is a reasonable, basic step, and it shouldn't fall on guests to propose it. An even more concerning issue was the front desk service. When I asked for matches to light a candle to say a prayer for my father, I fully expected a polite safety-related decline. Instead, the employee said, "100% no problem--promise you will burn this place to the ground." Whether meant as a joke or not, it was wildly inappropriate, unprofessional, and deeply unsettling given the circumstances. When I asked another staff member the following evening if I should expect another night like the first, the response was simply, "That's how people are these days." No reassurance, no ownership, and no sense of hospitality. Overall, the lack of guest control, poor handling of disruptive events, coupled with shockingly unprofessional staff interactions have made an already difficult time even harder. I hope management addresses these issues, because the property has potential--but right now, the guest experience falls far short of acceptable.

Mini omelets, pancakes, oatmeal, cereal, sausage, yogurt and fruit. They do a lot of wedding parties here and the 4 nights I stayed there was always a party going on with a lot of drunk guests. I currently live near prospect park in Brooklyn, NY -but was visiting family who live in sparta. I had no idea this train station was even here and was shocked at how spacious it was when I stepped inside. It's very, very well made with lots of historical restoration and charm. Everything from the trim on the windows to the floor looks as if it was done with a lot of craftsmanship. The person who built it is absolutely someone I would hire to do work in my own home based on the level of detail in the space. I'm very into building details and I love the crown molding used on the walls. Very well done. There is ALOT of parking outside the building, and everything is clean and well kept. It's also centrally located (you can access it easily from the highway). There's also legit security cameras mounted on the wall and outside. This really was well thought out and made me feel safer. Train Creative easily and comfortably sits 50+ people as it did last night for the film festival. This would be an amazing place to give a class, teach yoga or do art shows. You could also have a small intimate wedding here framed by the backdrop of the woods... At the back of the space, there's a large kitchen but I'll be honest, because I'm vegan (for religious reasons) I didn't go back there to see it up close since I was not going to eat anything. However, it was a full kitchen and flowed nicely with the space. You could absolutely have a party here and the setting is very woodsy, and classy. It has a private cottage feel and is nothing like a rental hall. It honestly reminded me a bit of The Barn at Perona Farms. The forest around it gives Train Creative a touch of magic as well. I would absolutely come back in the future especially to see another film festival.
