We fell in love with Birchwood Manor the first time we visited 2 years ago as the first person we met with was Michael Marino, who was so warm and welcoming from the beginning. Since then, we've worked with Michael on planning our wedding and he was so great to work with. He was easy to communicate with, super energetic and full of positive energy throughout the planning, and very informative. We wanted our dogs in the ceremony a lower guest minimum for fear that less people at the time would attend due to covid and Michael quickly accommodated our requests, no questions asked! Our wedding was 10/14/23 and Farrell was our maitre'd. After getting home, my matron of honor, brother in law and mom had nothing but AMAZING things to say about Farrell. According to my mom, Farrell saw my grandpa had trouble with his boutonniere and she, without us asking, started helping him and all the other groomsmen clip them on. She worked with my husband on getting a little last-minute seating mishap resolved (we had some unplanned guests who had initially rsvp'd no and showed up). She was so good with children as our flower girl and flower boy/ring bearer were 4 and 7 and she interacted with them and helped show them what to do at the ceremony. Our day of coordinator unfortunately had an emergency and was not there part of the wedding but Farrell really took over and checked in on us constantly and took charge of the day. My matron of honor said Farrell was so nice and reliable and amazing at her job. Going back to the wedding, our guests couldn't stop talking about how gorgeous the venue was, down to the chandeliers in the ballroom. Our wedding was unfortunately outdoors but Birchwood was so accommodating with allowing us to use the Grand Ballroom for the ceremony as the reception was already set up elsewhere. We upgraded the cocktail hour to deluxe and with both my husband and I being from Chinese families with high expectations in regards to seafood, the lobster tails were gone instantly as our guests loved them so much. People raved about how good the cocktail hour was, including the carving station and shrimp scampi station. The ice sculpture was a beautiful and elegant touch. All in all, we and our guests had nothing but an amazing time at Birchwood. We have nothing but positive experiences through our 2 years of wedding planning. My wife and I looked at a few places when we were trying to find a venue for my daughter's Sweet 16. We liked the Birchwood and Farrell gave us a really good vibe. Planning the event was very easy and low stress. They kept contact throughout the year leading up to the event and I can honestly say that the event went off without a hitch. They catered to us and made sure our (my wife's ) party vision was exactly what they delivered. Now my wife helped with most of the decorating (she's available if you like the way this was decorated by the way) so she gets props but overall the Birchwood did an amazing job making, the room look exactly how we pictured it. It goes without saying that the food was awesome as well. I had Farrell check in with me throughout the night with the open bar, and she was very accommodating. Overall, the event was very fair priced and they worked with us in designing exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend. read more

Words cannot express how thankful we are to Birchwood Manor for making our dream wedding come true. From the start of the wedding planning process until the very end, our banquet manager and maitre d, Farrell, made sure every one of our requests were granted. She made the whole process easy and enjoyable and we knew from the moment we met with her that we were in great hands. Three months later, and our guests are still raving about the delicious food. The cocktail hour had multiple stations ranging from sushi bar, seafood bar, carvings, fajitas, to our favorite gourmet mac and cheese and more. I was even surprised by custom ice carvings! The lobster tail and filet mignon dinner was melt in your mouth perfection. And for an exciting finish, there was an endless assortment of passed desserts that had our guests tasting them all. The service was fast and friendly, and accommodating to some of my guests dietary requests. Even though it ended up raining prior to the start of our ceremony, the staff at Birchwood was able to accommodate and set up an inside ceremony that was just as beautiful. (I also posted this review elsewhere.) From the very moment we met Farrell, the amazing woman who runs the events, we were so impressed. Our son and our now-daughter in-law just got married last Fri., 8/4/23. We had the most wonderful time and have continued to receive calls and text messages from friends and family who joined the celebration. Farrell had been helpful, professional, acutely attentive and thoughtful every single moment of the wedding from planning to seeing it to fruition. The staff working there is also beyond helpful, friendly, kind and professional. The food was delicious, and I only hope I'll be able to go back as a guest to enjoy much more of everything (since being a parent of the groom didn't allow me nearly enough time to try it all - even though Farrell had some foods from the cocktail hour brought up to the wedding party to enjoy prior to heading back down to the party. 'Great foresight and thoughtfulness!). Given that the weather forecast had definitely called for heavy rain and t-storms, Farrell made sure we would be easily accommodated no matter what our needs would be. Miraculously, it didn't end up raining, and we were able to hold the ceremony outside as planned. The bridal suite is very large with multiple rooms and restrooms, tables & chairs, & places to have food brought up to us and laid out. I'm positive I'm forgetting so many more wonderful comments about our experience a couple days ago. I wouldn't for a split second have any reservations whatsoever about very highly recommending The Birchwood Manor, and especially Farrell and her team, for special events. I cannot thank them enough. I wish I had photos to post, but please look at what others have shown. (Our wedding ceremony took place in the back area as compared to the front side when first arriving. It was lovely and more than accommodating of our approximately 140. guests. As another small touch, even the chairs they use are super pretty. Clearly I'm extremely happy. LOL!) I cannot say enough wonderful things about Birchwood Manor and about Farrell, the person who helped plan and coordinate everything for our event. We were looking for an outdoor venue to have our party, and we knew right away that this would be a lovely setting because the grounds are really beautiful. It is like having your own personal garden overlooking a mansion. Although it ended up raining during our entirely outdoor event, we had a tent set up with a beautiful fountain, plantings, and the grand entrance to Birchwood Manor as our backdrop. The setting was so beautiful that, even though it rained, it did not spoil a thing! Everyone raved about the food, the setting, the service, and the decor. There was nothing I needed to do to decorate the tent, aside from bringing some flowers. It looked just fabulous with Birchwood Manor's table settings and the backdrop of the grounds! Throughout the planning process, Farrell was always responsive to my requests and available to help me plan for the contingencies of a COVID party. Farrell was incredibly on top of every detail and honestly, I was entirely stress-free throughout the party knowing that she had everything covered. I cannot recommend Birchwood Manor more highly! I can confidently say you will be in the best hands. Several of my guests are already considering booking a party with them. And I would come back again in a heartbeat! I have been told that Birchwood Manor has many repeat customers and groups that regularly host parties there. I can completely understand why! Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is more important to me than making my dearest mom happy on Mother's Day. She raised me and sacrificed so much so I would do anything to make her happy. Luckily for this Mother's Day, I decided to make reservations at the Birchwood Manor. All I can say is the experience was certainly memorable and beautiful for my mom and my family. First the building is nestled in a beautifully manicured oasis of trees and flowers. If the New York Botanical Garden is reading this, take note of how gorgeous a garden can be with meticulous care and love. There is something to be said about driving up to a destination and feeling like YOU HAVE ARRIVED, and not simply getting there. My mom and family was duly impressed. Now on to the meal. My mom loves to try different kinds of food; I guess that's where I get it from. After being seated, with a glass of Mamosa in her hand, she made her rounds and saw all the different choices for their Mother's Dat Brunch. From Eggs Benedict to prime rib, every bite was truly delish (my opinion and mom's). The usual breakfast fare was present but there were a couple surprises such as the lobster salad, teriyaki beef tips, and manicotti as well. The dessert table included cannoli, terimasu, and carrot cakes just to name a few. Truly rounded out the experience on a high note. We had our wedding here and working with Birchwood was a dream, start to finish. During the planning process they were very communicative, understanding and willing to accommodate our requests. The day of the maitre'd and wait staff were very attentive and offered quick service. They really made sure everyone was having a good time. The food here is fantastic. We got so many compliments from our guests about how much they enjoyed their dinners, especially the prime rib. My husband and I are vegetarian and they made an eggplant parm specifically for us that wasn't on the guest menu! You can tell that they make most things in house. They made the wedding cake in house as well and it was one of the best cakes I've ever had. All the facilities were clean and their cocktails were delicious. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The reception halls attach to an outdoor patio which allowed our guests to have a great mix of indoor/outdoor time. I had a communion party held at the Birchwood Manor just this past weekend and everything was beautifully organized! Working with Michael was such a pleasure. Planning this whole event was easy and the communication between me and the whole staff was even better. They listened to my concerns/changes and were able to accommodate me. The food was delicious and the venue was beautiful. We had about 50 adults and 13 children. Our cocktail hour was even was held at the West Lounge then we moved the whole part into the Jefferson Ballroom where we only occupied 2 out of the 3 sections. We had the full dance floor set up with 8 tables surrounding it. It was very spacious and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this venue for any party size, big or small. read more

From the first meeting up until our wedding day, working with Birchwood Manor was a true pleasure! After seeing the glamorous Jefferson Ballroom and the beautiful outdoor gardens, we knew this was the perfect venue for our upcoming Spring 2015 wedding. Throughout the planning process, we had the privilege of working with Robert, the banquet manager, who was very knowledgeable and upfront with us from the start, so we knew we could trust his expertise and guidance. As the wedding day approached, the Birchwood Manor staff made everything so easy for us, working with all of our vendors to make sure everything was executed seamlessly when the big day came. When the wedding day arrived, we were floored by how perfectly it all went, thanks to the wonderful help of the staff. The ballroom was decorated beautifully, the outdoor grounds looked spectacular, and the food was truly out of this world! It was everything we had hoped it would be, and so much more. The maitre d', wait staff and bartenders all did an excellent job and were so attentive to everyone's needs, especially us, as the newlyweds. They even made sure they had our special Prosecco for us, and that our glasses were always full. Even now, weeks later, our guests are still raving about what an amazing time they had, and how the food was the best they've ever had at any wedding! I attend a yearly fundraiser here so I have been here several times over the years and not much has changed but the place is well maintained. The place can accommodate a lot of people but the food is nothing to write home about. Last night they served a Caesar salad that was already on the table when you entered the room (but it was fresh). A loaf of warm sesame bread was also passed around and was the best part so don't skip. The chicken dish was pretty uninspired. The presentation was actually nice with a round circle of mashed potatoes in one layer and a top layer of sweet potatoes and a rosemary garnish. It just didn't taste very good. It is pretty much what you would expect for a chicken dinner at a large banquet hall. The chocolate mouse cake with a dollop of whipped cream was good. The facilities are clean and intentionally old fashioned. The bartender and servers were really good but the wine they offered was Terrible. If you have an event here, the pictures will be nice and the service will be good but I would snack elsewhere beforehand and I would find out the brand and prescreen their house wine and their terribly sweet "champagne" and I would make sure they open fresh bottles for the event. We arrived pretty early and I am not convinced the first glass red was opened that night.You can serve inexpensive wine that is drinkable! read more

And I have to say, from the first time I walked in, to the last minute of my wedding, the customer service was absolutely impeccable. Beautiful venue! Came here for a Indian wedding and it looked absolutely beautiful! You didn't even need to add too many extra's just because the florals and venue is beautiful on its on. I'm from the south and this little place up north reminded me of what i would go to down south; hit home well. It is an old-fashioned, traditional type of decor and taste, well-maintained and great big mirrors(which girl doesn't just love that? ha) Perfect for pictures and small events. Yay! I've been here for three different occasions: my high school prom, a company Christmas party, and most recently a wedding. Birchwood Manor is a really nice venue. The grounds are really lovely with lots of fountains and pretty trees that make for great photos. The manor itself is nice, clean, and well-maintained. The bathrooms are large and there's a little sitting area with a bunch of mirrors where you can freshen up, which is nice. The decor is starting to look a little dated - sort of a tacky baroque feel - but it's not terrible. The food is good and parking is ample. Overall, a nice place to have an event. read more

My husband and I got married at Birchwood Manor a couple of weeks ago. Farrell was our Maitre d' and she was just amazing. I had a lot of things I had made to be placed in certain spots for the wedding and was nervous about the set up. Farrell set everything up without asking any questions and it was all perfect. She also made sure everything ran smoothly on the day of and kept all our vendors in check. My father kept commenting on how good she was. The food on the day of was spectacular. We did a chocolate fountain add on which turned out amazing and everyone raved about the cake, which was designed to a T based on the photograph provided. The grounds at Birchwood are just beautiful. Our wedding was in October and we were worried about the weather. Nevertheless, we were able to have our wedding outside, although a solid plan B option was made available. All-in-all Birchwood made our wedding day a truly special and beautiful day and I would not have changed anything and certainly wouldn't have picked anywhere else to have my wedding. One thing in particular that I liked about Birchwood was that they worked with me and my husband as far as the size of our party went and did not make us feel like our wedding was inferior because it was on the smaller size unlike other venues. read more

This gorgeous facility is absolutely perfect for a variety of events and I could not have been more satisfied with the special service and attention given to us by Michael and his staff. The food was incredible and they went above and beyond custom making our speciality drink. We had our wedding on 7/18/14 at the Birchwood Manor, and they were nothing short of incredible. You really cant ask for much more. Their prices were far better than most, especially for what you get. If you are getting married anywhere near there, you shouldn't look anywhere else. I can't imagine we were an easy couple to deal with, but they were patient and accommodating the entire way. Robert helped us through the whole process and the rest of the staff was perfect. Our guests were really impressed with how beautiful the wedding was and how delicious the food was. Service was impeccable. I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled with the Birchwood. If we could give 10 STARS we would!!! I really can't even begin to describe how wonderful the Birchwood Manor made our wedding. They totally and completely blew any expectations we would ever have had, and created the best party! My parents got married at the Birchwood Manor 34 years ago, so it did hold a special place in our hearts to begin with, but it couldn't have been more amazing of an experience. This family owned venue feels welcoming from the get go. Not only are the Maitre' d's the best in the business, everyone employed there was happy, helpful and finessed everything with love. From the initial meetings to the final run down, they were thoughtful in their questions, and really wanted to make it our day. Everyone was super responsive to calls or emails, and they made everything feel seamless the day of. None of our vendors had any trouble setting anything up. Not only was the service incredible, the food was out of this world, and the cocktail hour food stations couldn't have been more beautifully set up. Our guests couldn't believe the amount of food options there were, and were enthusiastically trying everything. We had our reception in the Jefferson room because we ended up with a large party of about 250, and the room was the perfect size so that people had table space and had room to move around the beautiful dance floor. Also, they have linens of all colors on hand, so they can match their room to anything the bride/groom is looking for. The Maitre' d's and all of the service staff really took care of my husband and I the entire night, they even made sure that we ate our dinner! They totally understood the role of being host, and were always there with my or my husband's favorite drink, which was the classiest touch. All our guests have continually told us it was the best wedding they have ever been to, and I hope that our review will give anyone or everyone the perfect place for their wedding. I want to give a shout-out to Birchwood Manor; I've known about the place and passed it for decades but never had occasion to celebrate there until yesterday, at my neice's engagement party. Thank you Michael! Michael did everything he said he'd do; the food was great, the room (the Anne Farrell room with the glass walls and its own entrance) was totally lovely, on one of these crazy-warm December 2015 days. My mom, sister and niece were well pleased, as were all guests. Michael also was extremely accommodating about last-minute changes. Loved the Waldorf Salad and the eggplant rollatini. Even the lox and bagels (not their usual fare, I don't think) were good. They staffed generously, too. And they told me the leftovers go to a Morris County food pantry (although I'm still thinking about the waldorf salad and the little pastries). Recommended! It also sits on one of the last parcels of land in the Parsippany area that retains something of a rural feel; horses across the road give a pretty visual, as do the grounds.) read more

Probably the worst place I've ever been to. Where do I begin? Came to a gala with 500 people. No Valet. Terrible start! Right to cocktail hour I swear the food was frozen. On to the reception, service was god awful barely spoke English and food was again was terrible where I didn't finish and got something to eat afterwards. Even the water tasted terrible. The grounds are majestic. We looked at wedding venues throughout New Jersey & have not seen a venue with such classy & beautiful scenery. I believe the grounds are what makes the wedding and our photos turned out timeless. All our guests were stunned by the beauty of the grounds and we were lucky to have perfect 80s, Sunny weather in October. The only complaints we heard was that the buffet did not have enough food. My wife & I ate a little but were so caught up in the moment that food was not first priority during the evening. We are not picky eaters and the food tasted good as I can remember. The Birchwood Manor is a family-owned business and Mark was our Sales Rep. He was personable and made the experience good. The only problem was that he was not responsive when we had concerns/questions. The Maitre'D was a great guy, made the night feel special. He also, had gotten married at the Birchwood a Month prior and was at my beck & call. He made the transition of the wedding smooth and was very courteous and understanding. I could tell there were not enough waiters for the wedding party as it took a considerable time to get our food and drinks. Being our wedding I expected quick service. Probably took 20 mins to get us food/drinks while all our guests were eating. The flexibility of the venue is what really made the wedding spectacular. We only had 140 ppl and were given the Grand Ball Room (half closed) instead of the Madison, because it was available. There was 2 weddings going at once and did not notice the other party. I believe the rooms hold less than is stated by the venue. The high ceilings and elegant setting made the room look fantastic. The value of the price was incredible based on the beauty of the grounds and quality of the service. I recommend this venue for a wedding. Your guests will never forget it as the grounds are stunning. (If you realize I always mention the grounds that is because there were so many picturesque photo options that our memories from looking at our picture books look like we were in a film/movie. If you read some of my other reviews, you will see that I put a huge emphasis on cleanliness. If a restaurant or banquet hall in this case has dirty bathrooms, you can only imagine how their kitchen is. The bathrooms here are immaculate...and the rest of the place follows suit. There are absolutely no words for how happy and thankful we are for Birchwood Manor and Mike, along with all the staff! We chose this venue and from day one they did nothing but do everything to accommodate us. Not only is the venue beautiful but the food and service is absolutely 5 stars!! We nor our family had ever been to a wedding here and can honestly say there were times we thought "could this menu be too good to be true?" "Will the food be top quality?", "How's the service?" Every time we met with Mike, he made everything so easy for us and since day one we trusted him with our wedding day. Fast forward to two days ago, we both could not have asked for a more beautiful night, amazing service, and absolutely incredible food. The minute we walked into our cocktail hour, people were raving about how plentiful and delicious the food was. When we got a first look at our room (Grand Ballroom) we were at a loss for words. It was more beautiful than we had ever expected it to be. The staff that night was incredible and our Maitre D, Jason, was always around to see what we needed without us ever having to look for him or do anything ourselves. INCREDIBLE, which is exactly why I did not want to wait to write this. There were times prior to the wedding we felt extremely, oddly, calm and actually said "It's because of Mike, its all covered".
