Anyway, since then I've been back 3 more times; once for breakfast and twice for brunch. And while I'm confessing, the two times for lunch were on subsequent days. Yeah, they're that good. Actually, their chicken salad on a croissant is the best I've ever had and in my advanced years I've had a crapload of chicken salad. The have a nice sized coffee bar, decorated beautifully with some pretty delicious looking pastries. I'm on an anti-sweet phase so I'm basing my opinion on only on appearance. Then there's a seating area when you can eat, served by a friendly attentive staff and an adjacent boutique area where you can purchase housewares, clothing and other cool stuff. I'm not in Maplewood all that often, generally when I'm shopping at the equally awesome City Workshop but when I do, I always make sure to hit up Perch. You should too. 1/2 star deduction because they don't offer fake sugar, just that Stevia crap which is gross.

If you treat this place more like a cafe, it will probably be much more to your liking than it was to me.

The dining room is modern and decorated with trees and lighten that create a cozy eating atmosphere. The service was phenomenal. We were a group of 20 and our orders were taken quickly and served accurately. The food was very well prepared and presented elegantly. I especially enjoyed the Brussels sprouts. The French Toast bites were a delightful surprise. People seemed to enjoy shishito peppers, I'll take their word as I am not a fan of peppers. My Willow Burger was a taste sensation. It was pilled high with the topping of onion, avocado, cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce and a tangy chipotle sauce. Yum. Worth the trip even if you are not attending the theatre.

I was with a party of six and at 11AM, we were all in a breakfast mood. We tried and all liked the Brioche French Toast, the Mushroom Thyme omelet and the Shakshuka. The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with lemon curd and blueberries just didn't hang together. (Only four dishes for six people because two of us ordered the omelet and two the French toast). Overall the food was very good and the portions generous. Beverages were fine. The service was a bit spotty, possibly because we had two waiters who seemed to be tripping over each other. It shouldn't take three requests to get a glass of water. But overall, a place I'd try again.

The venue itself is decent, especially the back garden room, which is the nicest space in my opinion. It has large glass windows and a nice ambiance, especially in the evening. However, they often have multiple events going on at once, and if your party isn't clearly directed to the right room, it can get confusing. Parking is free but limited, and it can be a hassle depending on how busy the night is. Food is hit or miss since it's usually buffet-style. Some items are okay. Like the spare ribs they're known for but overall it doesn't always taste freshly prepared and can sometimes be overly salty. The bar is also inconsistent; I've had well-made drinks, but other times they've been watered down. On one visit, I even found a bug in my drink, but the bartender did replace it without issue. On the positive side, the staff is consistently friendly, accommodating, and service is usually quick. Overall, it's a decent spot for casual events like birthdays or retirement parties, but not ideal for anything more upscale or polished in my opinion.

The waiters were always cleaning up and moving things out of our way which was nice. The food was served buffet style. The food wasnt bad but it was a bit underwhelming. I thought it would have more flavor. The women's bathroom was also kind of a mess which surprised me because the venue looked pretty. In the space we were in, it only had 2 stalls and one of the stall doors was broken. If they fix that and make their food more flavorful it would be a perfect space to host gatherings.
