My cousin married his high school sweetheart this past Saturday at Crossed Keys Estate and it was absolutely beautiful. The staff go above and beyond to ensure you have anything and everything to make the day go as smoothly and carefree as possible and the venue is perfect. The rustic outdoorsy feel during the ceremony and the pictures that are taken on the swing, the cabin to get ready in and the tented venue with the absolute best wait staff I have encountered at a wedding in a long time all make this venue a perfect choice for couples in search of a locale for their big day. My cousin's one request was that wherever they chose, the food is of the utmost importance and has to be taken into consideration and they nailed it when choosing Crossed Keys. Where do I begin? From the initial appointment to see the venue, till the last dance at my daughters wedding, everything was elegant and perfect. This family owned estate treats everyone like family. The venue is meticulously cared for, the flowers were absolutely fresh and gorgeous , and don't even get me started on the quality and taste of the food!! The owners were in constant touch with my daughter and her then fiance to make sure every detail was discussed and came to fruition. We could not have asked for a more beautiful, perfect wedding, Crossed Keys Estate is definitely the venue to use if you want to host the wedding of your dreams! Before touring Crossed Keys was our top choice to host our fall 2021 wedding. They had the date available we wanted and we were so excited to see the venue. I had email exchanges with Katherine and Jessica beforehand and also made sure to let them know that my partner and I are a same sexual couple (although the names Samantha and Stephanie should be telling). I received an email the day before asking us to please arrive on time as the tour is only an hour. We made sure to arrive early and wait in the assigned spot. Once arriving we waited for 15 minuets before my fiancé flagged down a groundskeeper to ask where to find Katherine. He told us she's probably busy prepping for the wedding happening today. We walked around and finally found her to which she said "oh I looked for you but didn't see you" which was very untrue as she walked from the complete opposite area that we had been told to wait in. Fine, we move on. She walks towards us and asks "whose the bride". My mother, who was touring with us, tells her we are both brides to which she becomes obviously uncomfortable and explains "oh well yeah we do lots of gay weddings". Fine, again we move on because the venue is so beautiful we still do want to see it. She proceeded to ask if we planned to get married onsite, before my fiancé even has a chance to answer she said "well I guess you would have to since a church is clearly out of the question. At that point we were checked out. This venue is STUNNING, don't get me wrong, but Katherine was clearly uncomfortable with us. She also couldn't give us a straight answer but a lot of pretty basic questions which again turned us off. read more

The entire estate makes you feel you transported somewhere else in the world besides NJ. A little late on my review- me and my husband had our wedding reception here on a beautiful day in june 2017. Katherine and Jessica were both so amazing. We visted the venue on a cold winter day 1.5 years prior to 2017, and we could still imagine how lush and beautiful the place could be in june. They were extremely accomodating and flexible for us, and made sure everything was as planned. It's a family owned business so the communication from planning, arranging, and catering- everything in one stop! Super convinient and I highly recommend this venue. It is truly worth every penny. Our day was more than perfect- and the guest could not stop talking about the beautiful venue and the FOOD (so much variety to choose from which i loved). We been to weddings and were apart of few wedding parties so I understand how stressful and hectic it could be while planning and on the day of the wedding- but Crossed keys was truly extremely on schedule and made sure they delivered everything they needed! I recently attended my brother's wedding at Crossed Keys Estate. He and his wife had such an amazing ceremony and reception at the property. The owner (who was there before, during and after the event) was beyond hands on and supportive. She ensured every little detail was considered. As was her point person, a young woman who seemed to be in every place at every moment. Overall, what a beautiful venue. The staff was very impressive, particularly the bartenders (a key for any venue). They were efficient in getting drinks out and keeping the faces smiling, even for the non-drinkers like myself. The band shredded, the food was great (what little I had time to eat), the cake even better (I ate a lot of that). The grounds are bar-none the best part of the venue. Kids really loved it, particularly the vintage car! And of utmost importance, in this day and age- it was safe. From beginning to end, that was chiefly important and the team ensured that. Crossed Keys Estate showed NO INTEGRITY during this unfortunate pandemic. Many businesses, like CK, had their integrity checked during these uncertain times, and most did the right thing by helping their couples to reschedule. If rescheduling wasn't possible, they refunded full deposits so that the brides and grooms could make other plans necessary for their friends and families to be a part of their special day. Well, not true of Crossed Keys! My stepdaughter was so excited for her wedding day, but had to cancel due to the pandemic. She rescheduled once, but then she was asked to wait to see if it could be inside, how many guests, etc., but this was not practical for guests coming from as far as Alaska. When she tried to look at dates for next year, they could only offer her a Thursday wedding which also would not work for the families traveling. At this point, there was no fault on either side. These are unprecedented times! With a broken heart, she had to terminate the contract and the wedding of her dreams. While our second payment was refunded, they would not even consider refunding even a portion of our original deposit of $5,350.00. We did not expect the full amount refunded because there was a group "tasting" and a flower "consultation" (which they were extremely late for), but in light of a worldwide crisis, you would think they would deduct their expenses but not place any more hardship on this young couple (and parents) and do the right thing. A simple compromise was all we asked. They would not even answer our emails. What a selfish shame! They insisted on enforcing a contract that they themselves couldn't fulfill. I have lived and worked within 10 miles of this establishment for the past 15-20 years. Their new barn is absolutely beautiful and part of a peaceful, hard-working community. It is too bad that they could not show more empathy and understanding when people needed it the most. Instead, they chose personal gain over values and character. There is no heart or warmth behind this beautiful facade. Look somewhere else. read more

I came here for a wedding last week. WOW!! This place is absolutely beautiful! What an incredible place to get married and celebrate w friends and family. The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and professional. Everything seemed to get done 5 steps ahead of even thinking about it. The food... OMG!!! Incredible! My fiancé and I were super excited to meet with Kathrine and get a tour of Crossed Keys Estate. Unfortunately our experience with Kathrine was really disappointing. Her unprofessionalism was insulting. She made obvious judgements about us and treated us accordingly. She went as far as to ask what we did for a living, then said we would need to work extra hours to be able to afford to get married there. Then she asked if some one was helping us pay for the wedding. Unfortunately our experience isn't unusual. I am a bridal hair stylist so I have had the opportunity to work with many brides who have had similar experiences with Kathrine. With that said Crossed Keys Estate is no doubt a beautiful venue, it's just a shame to treat people that way. read more

Granted it was a very hot day but the staff did nothing to help. There were no bottled waters. They did not serve ice water and they did a terrible job accommodating older people (paths difficult to walk on and bathrooms up very steep steps) and children (no place to change babies, yelled at for using playhouse). There was essentially no wait service. The wedding cake was not served. Some of the food was spoiled and there was no choice given for entree. Food was mostly inedible. The ceremony and the reception were beautiful because of the officiant, the lovely family, the guests who were happy to be there and had an absolutely wonderful and joyous time, the raucous, exuberant dancing and celebrating, and of course the beautiful, sweet, gracious and happy couple but I would not recommend this venue. read more

Where do I begin?! Long story short, Jessica, Katherine, and the entire Crossed Keys team are true wedding experts! We waited two years to have our dream fall wedding, and every moment of our wedding day was worth the wait. From the moment we first stepped foot on The Estate's grounds, we knew this was where we would be married...we didn't even look at other venues! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking. From the towering oak trees, to the meticulously manicured lawns, every corner of Crossed Keys is beautiful. The tent is an absolute stunner (and won the approval of my very critical 93-year-old grandmother)! What we loved most about having a tented wedding was the ability to truly create an aesthetic that was our own. It was a blank canvas with which Jessica and Katherine used to create a beautiful celebration of our marriage. Throughout the entire planning process, Jessica was there to answer all of our questions, no matter how silly or seemingly insignificant, ultimately putting our minds at ease and allowing us to focus on preparing for marriage. The day of our wedding she was there, making sure every detail was perfect - I'm convinced she even had something to do with the impeccable weather and the fairy tale Autumn leaves raining down around us during the ceremony. A huge highlight for us was being able to have our rehearsal dinner at Crossed Keys Inn, just a minute's drive down the road. Knowing that the Crossed Keys family was in charge of our wedding weekend was so reassuring. 3 months after our wedding and our family and friends are STILL raving about it! I have to admit, I am constantly trying to find an excuse to make my way back to Crossed Keys to experience its magic once again! I want to state initially that my review has nothing to do with the bed and breakfast, it is only for the catering service this hotel forces on you if you have a wedding there, and whatever role the hotel plays in the tent setup. I came here for a wedding this past summer. A few days in advance I called ahead, and requested a vegan meal from the caterer. When I got to the wedding, when I tried asking servers during cocktail hour if certain items contained eggs or dairy, they said they'd get back to me but never did, they still weren't able to answer me when I asked second and third times. This is concerning because eggs and milk are common allergy items, and servers should at least know about things like egg, milk, nuts, wheat, soy and shellfish, or be able to easily find out if they don't remember. When dinner was served, I was given the same meat filled plate everyone else got. I sent it back, they offered to make me a new meal but I declined as I wasn't feeling well that night. I can only guess that it would have been as bland as the wild rice (that looked like it would have been good, but wasn't) on the plate everyone else got. Later on in the evening they brought out coffee, but no tea. Unfortunately for myself, I can't stand coffee. I would've gladly accepted hot water without tea just to have something warm, but they didn't have that either. My main issue with the hotel, (or whoever was in charge of the tent), was that the night turned out to be cold and rainy. Even when they brought the flaps of the tent down, it was still really cold. They should have brought out space heaters, I know they have them-- I read blogs people wrote about having chilly autumn weddings there with space heaters, but they weren't brought out. The valets were also not quite awake, when we left we walked right past the valet to our car and we know he saw us, only to realize we had to get the valet to take the car out, he never said anything to stop us and didn't really have a reason when we asked him why. The two positive things I can say is that the portable flush toilets they have were actually really nice, clean and not unpleasant to use at all. And that the bride and groom were happy (which is really what matters). But I know I sure as hell will not have my wedding here, and that I'll be stuffing myself well in advance if I ever have to attend a wedding at this location again. read more

My wife and I attended our friend's wedding last night and wish this place existed when we were looking at venues for our wedding. If I was allowed to give 6 stars, I would. We celebrated our daughter's wedding last weekend at Crossed Keys Estate. It was absolutely magical. Katherine and Jessica guided us every step of the way and for that we are truly appreciative. They made us feel so at home the moment we walked onto the property, letting us know that they were taking it from here and that we need not worry. We were able to relax and join our family and friends in celebrating our daughter and her husband. The property was absolutely magnificent, so many beautiful places to wander. We loved the cocktail patio and the atmosphere around the fire pit was so inviting. The stone house and colorful gardens made for a picturesque ceremony backdrop. And the flowers... they blew us away - simply stunning, capturing the wedding colors perfectly. We received so many compliments about the delicious appetizers, the entrees, and desserts. I'm sorry I missed the chocolate chip cookies - I heard they were warm and that the mint chocolate chip ice cream was so creamy! The day could not have gone any smoother. We stayed in the house on the property. The rooms were spacious and beautiful and we had full use of the living areas. It was a short walk to the playhouse were the bridal party got ready. So nice to be on site the whole day. The bridal party stayed a mile away at Crossed Keys Inn where they had the whole inn to themselves. It was a perfect place, too, to host the after party and the farewell breakfast. I highly recommend this wedding venue. Katherine and Jessica are pros and know exactly how to create magic! read more

I attended a friend's wedding at this venue over the summer and had an absolutely fantastic time. While many weddings I've been to in New Jersey take place either down the shore or at a banquet hall, Crossed Keys is a refreshing country alternative. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and made for stunning photos, and the backdrop for the ceremony looked like something out of a painting. Plus, it was great that the commute between the ceremony site and the reception tent consisted of a one minute walk. I really enjoyed the food, especially during cocktail hour (though dinner was also great). There were a range of options to choose from (though I'm pretty sure I hit all of them) but I especially loved the steak grilled in front of us. There were also multiple bars set up so you rarely had to wait for a drink. I think what really set the venue apart were the personal touches, from mason jars with our names and table number handwritten on them, to a photo area complete with props for picture taking, to a hundred other little details that made the day come together. There were also activities for everybody at this wedding, which I haven't generally seen and really appreciate since I am not much of a dancer. There was corn hole near the tent, enough room to walk around the grounds, and a fire pit for after dark. That said, if you are a dancer, the dance floor is a good size and is right in the middle of a well-spaced seating area. What I liked most about Crossed Keys from a guest's perspective is the feeling I got based on the design and execution: a wedding with a large number of guests felt like an intimate gathering, without being claustrophobic. If you're getting married in New Jersey, this place should be on your short list. read more

The team at Crossed Keys brought our vision to life, working with us for a year to execute a huge wedding, with many, many unique touches! They were also by our sides throughout the entire wedding day - with champagne, food, well wishes, and support. Had a great time a few months ago at a beautiful wedding at Crossed Keys. This is a hidden gem in a quaint area of New Jersey, and was one of the most unique wedding venues I have ever seen! The grounds were immaculate, and the landscape surrounding the ceremony and reception spectacular. My husband and I got married at Crossed Keys Inn this past October. I can't say enough wonderful things about this venue and the family that runs it. From start to finish, they made the process simple, streamlined and everything turned out perfect on our actual day. To start, pictures on the website do not do the grounds justice; it is more beautiful in person. All it took was walking around the grounds and meeting Katherine for 5 minutes and we were 100% sold. We had a fall wedding so we weren't too concerned about weather; however it was a bit cold. There were heaters in the tent and it was still very comfortable. More importantly, the fall leaves and backdrop was gorgeous. All the flowers were still in bloom and in our pictures you can't tell if it's 40 or 70 degrees out! The food was incredible too. They do not offer individual food tastings (but a group one was offered a few months prior which we were unable to attend) so we picked the menu just based on the descriptions. I think more people raved about the food than anything else. Celsos Catering did a phenomenal job and everything was cooked to perfection. The cake was incredible too. I can't wait for our 1 year anniversary to have another bite!! It is required that flowers are done on site via Event Design's by Katherine and (while trying not to be biased) I think they were the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. They were exactly what I imagined them to be and the colors carried beautifully throughout the venue. It also helps that the flowers are done by the person who probably knows the venue better than anyone... there were flowers in places I did not expect nor would think to ask about. Lastly, the service Katherine and her family provide is remarkable. You can tell they have been doing this a long time b/c no question was left unanswered. All in, the venue is a little bit expensive, but for the service - and QUALITY of service - you receive it was well worth it. They walked us through timeline, what to expect, what options we had, and were able to accommodate most requests flawlessly. My husband & I knew we wanted an outdoor wedding in NJ & Crossed Keys Estate popped up online right away. It was the first venue tour we took & from the moment we stepped onto the property, we both looked at each other & without even saying it out loud, agreed that this was going to be our wedding venue. It was the most beautiful day. From the moment we woke up to the moment we went to sleep, my husband & I were both on cloud 9. Getting to have the venue owner's beautiful home the night before for my girls & I to have one last sleep over before getting married & getting to have their property all to ourselves on the day of was the absolute best. The Playhouse was one of my favorite parts of the day; getting to all get ready in such a beautiful space started the day off on the perfect foot & this was where we got to have an after party with our friends & family after the wedding had ended. To start and end the day there was wonderful. Katherine, the venue's owner, made sure that we were taken care of, between driving me around in the cart to help me bring things back and forth, making sure I had enough hot water for my morning tea, being right by my side making sure I was getting a chance to eat everything we had out, helping us navigate our next steps with the marriage license, finding me last minute heel protectors when I needed them. She felt like another mom by our side. Jessica, her daughter, from the very beginning was such a calming, positive light throughout the whole process. We were never stressed out and I know a huge part of that was her attention to everything I asked, every idea I wanted her opinion on and not being stressed made this the most perfect day. It allowed us to just be present and enjoy ourselves. She found little pockets throughout the night to see how we were doing, to make sure our food was perfect, to help us cut our cake, to help distribute our favors. I felt like I gained a friend in her throughout these last several months and that made this experience that much more enjoyable. Our guests ALL, and when I say ALL, I mean ALL- said it was the most spectacular wedding they'd ever been to. That it was the BEST wedding food they'd ever had. If food is important to you like it was for us and if you don't want the same old 'wedding food' you get at most weddings, CKE is your venue. Everything was cooked incredibly, tasted even better than it looked & they were completely accommodating to certain things we wanted to add; like honey lavender ice cream, for example. Without a second thought, that was no problem and going to be our ice cream flavor for the night & it was absolutely outrageous. We're now running into some guests that were there after a few weeks have passed and they can't stop talking about the food! As for our ceremony- my one family member has been all through Europe and she said our ceremony looked like the South of France. Everything is so lush & you get married under 200 year old trees- how cool is that?! The flowers were exactly what we had explained we wanted & it felt like we were getting married in the secret garden. It was the perfect day. Truly a perfect day. CKE is a one stop shop in so many ways, between them handling the food, the flowers, the cake, etc. It made everything so seamless. My husband, myself, our families & guests will never forget it. I recently attended a wedding at Crossed Keys and it was absolutely magical. The ceremony was in the perfect spot. It was peaceful and beautiful. The cocktail hour was great - not too much food where you weren't overwhelmed or stuffed for dinner. The reception/dinner was just breathe-taking! The food was delicious!! There wasn't a plate left with food on it. The servers are so busy trying to make a great day for the bride and they were able to answer every question of mine or get something I requested and quickly too! You don't see that at many venues. The lanterns decorating the tent were just delightful and the view was absolutely stunning. It is a true magical forest fairytale. Also, the owners Jessica and her mother, Katherine not only made the experience perfect but they made you feel like you've known them forever. I didn't use the valet but my friends who did said they were great. It's a wonderful unique venue for a wedding. If you are looking for something different to have your wedding, especially a tent wedding, I highly recommend Crossed Keys!! read more
