The name says it all. I mean seriously who likes smashed olives. We came on a Saturday night with no reservation we opted to sit at the bar after being offered a table in a busy/tight walkway next to the kitchen and bathrooms. They bring you smashed olives and warm bread for a starter, I do not like olives so I didn't eat it. I asked the bartender for a drink recommendation that was not sweet and went with the white linen. It took about 15 minutes for the cocktails to arrive and I was confused when I got mine because it was purpose and very sweet but because it took so long I didn't say anything ... it took me the entire two hours we were there to drink it. We chose the whipped ricotta for the starter and I was so confused when it came out it was ice cold. The bread was cold the honey was barely there and honestly it was unbearable. It felt like an eternity for our food to come out I went with the short rib and my friend got the shrimp linguini. When my plate arrived I instantly knew it wasn't going to be good the short rib was in a pool of gravy and I saw not a trace of salt or pepper. My first bite was so bland I could have cried. Nothing had seasoning the meat, potatoes or broccoli. I was starving but I sent it back. The bartender and the someone else offered the menu to order something else but after the drink and the starter I was over it. When the bill came and I looked at it I was more disappointed I was given the wrong the drink, it was the lychee. Unfortunately, I would not visit the smashed olive again.

The ambiance is nostalgic, a mix between a nice Italian restaurant with a bar area. The staff were very nice. The gluten free options were very yummy!! The waiter even put in a gluten free olive tapenade and pita order for me without me asking. The gluten free fried calamari was good. The gluten free chicken parm was amazing!!!! The gluten free pasta was overcooked but okay. My mom enjoyed the uncle junior's sandwich with fries. Will definitely return for the ambiance and gluten free options.

Fantastic meal! Service was a bit slow starting out it was a Saturday night and they were busy but the meal made up for it. Everything we got was delicious and perfect. Whipped feta appetizer is 10/10. Desserts were homemade and so good! Perfect place for a girls night out we got sat in the nice big corner booth and we loved it. Very nice

Sandwich was too good to pause and take a pic, but here's my wine!

Went to the Smashed Olive for the first time for a quick bite on a Wednesday afternoon. Nice outdoor seating, but was grateful to be eating inside on that super hot day! Interior is well designed and very classy. I ordered a chicken sandwich, which was excellent and a generous portion for myself. The bread it was on tasted homemade! My daughter loved her chicken meal as well. I also ordered a glass of the house red wine, which was very good. The waitress, Jess, and the hostess, Sarah, were so incredibly kind and very attentive! They couldn't have been sweeter to my little girl. We loved them! Will absolutely be back again not only for the excellent food but for the superb service.

Nice place with dark wood interior and an inviting menu. Service at the bar was just OK - bartender was very slow and didn't seem motivated. We have eaten here 3 times now - food is just OK - not worth it for us to come back.

Smashed burger- not the trending smashed burger that's pressed thin- just a plain cali burger

Updated my review to add new food pics. All around just a humble spot for lunch or dinner. Service is always on point and the restaurant has different brews and cozy atmosphere.

Always a good meal! The service was excellent. Every time we eat at the Smashed Olive we have food to take home, the portions are huge.

Ambiance was nice. Staff is great. We ordered the steaks and found them to be OK. The owner checks in with you which is a nice touch.

Should've stayed at the other place. Over priced. The food is not that great. Staff is so so. Not a great addition to our area.

I call them at 5:50 am (Bagels come out at 3 & 4:30am -at least that's what I can tell) and by 6:05 my order is ready to be picked up. Its hard to find quality food in Hunterdon and Warren County, the small shops are mostly all gone or being run by money hungry, penny pinching owners (the ones that use stock cheese on your food bc it costs 2 pennies less) - you wont find any of that here. Prices when i first started going was about $10 got a breakfast sandwich, 3 bagels and a coffee; now it's closer to $15. Service is what you expect in a loud, busy, crowded and most of the time - Hot (the ovens are 12 feet from you) place. You need to speak up when they ask "who's next" but they're attentive and write down your order; in 12 years of coming here, the only time they messed up my order (they put cheese when I said no cheese) they gave me the extra sandwich and told me to give it away to someone. I used to work at a bagel shop and the amount of food we'd throw away because of a screwed up order would tear my heart open; at least Muheisen's doesn't do this. Five stars all day everyday for my favorite bagel place in New Jersey

There is new ownership recently, and they kept much of the original menu as well as adding some new dishes. Recent experience wasn't great... Service really suffering, took 20 minutes to get our first drink. Also - the cocktail pours are extremely light for what they are charging. Food was OK... Pizza has always been very good here but recently they just don't seem to season it at all. Two of us ordered the fish of the day @$39...small piece of cod, and just four pieces of potato ...meaning two small potatoes cut in half...and mine was actually missing the sauce. I'm not sure how that dish leaves the kitchen in a restaurant that is supposed to be of high caliber. They need to do better.

We had a 7 PM reservation on a Wednesday night, and the place and parking lot were packed! Good sign to start! To begin, I enjoyed the Ruby grapefruit mocktail. Although I'd love trying new and unique cocktails at different establishments, I was in the mood for something light and refreshing and nonalcoholic. This hit just a spot. For food, we started off with the margherita pizza to share. Then, I opted for the crispy, buttermilk chicken sandwich with malt vinegar, potato wedges/fries. It was very delicious. The sandwich was crispy and fresh and the bun looked like it was handcrafted. The malt fries were unique because they had a vinegar powder on them. I've never tasted malt vinegar before, and it was a unique texture. Our waitress was very friendly, but I wish she had been a bit more attentive. She only stopped by to ask us for our drink order, our food order, and to give the check. My friends wanted to order more drinks, but because she did not come around as frequently as we would have liked, they were unable to place another order. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, however, because the restaurant was bustling from start to finish. Overall, very nice setting and meal. Cute decor, including an Anthony Bourdain abstract portrait.
