It is not easy to find decent eating options in the Kingdom of Sussex, but I stumbled across one yesterday in the wild. I was in town for the 2pm Lion King Jr. performance at the church just down the street, featuring my #1 Honorary Young Pup as a certain uptight red-billed hornbill (if you know you know). Sustenance was in order, and I wasn't looking for anything too heavy so this brunchy coffee spot seemed ideal - and it pretty much was. There was ample parking in the lot behind the building, but the place was pretty packed when I walked in. Even though I had to weave through a crowd to get to the counter, there wasn't an actual line and I was able to immediately order. Cute spot; looks like it's been fairly recently redone (last few years?) and I enjoyed the bathroom, which features very classy artwork of aristocratic felines on the walls. The soap dispenser is in a weird/awkward spot far to the left of the sink where it's almost impossible not to drip directly onto the floor, but at least they have one. I decided on the Protein Berry Crunch Toast and a slice of their Lemon Blueberry Loaf. Both were very tasty/hit the spot. I got the slice immediately upon ordering and considered getting a second one while I waited for the Toast. Cooler heads prevailed. It felt at least a little less naughty than that lemon loaf that Starbucks has, primarily because of the lack of icing (it has powdered sugar on top instead) and was moist; not too crumbly. The Toast came out probably in 10 minutes or so, which I think is perfectly acceptable given that it was clearly busy in there with both in-person and online orders. For the most part, I thought the combo of ingredients worked really well together; I was a little apprehensive about the cheese coming in, but it's pretty subtle and only dominant in a few random bites. I think the weakest part of the toast is the blueberries, but that's honestly more of a personal palate call than anything else - it just didn't totally mesh with the cheese for me and didn't have the vibrant taste of the other included fruits. But same token, part of the optics of this dish hinges on that blue. Everything is a balancing act. I'd totally get that again in a pinch, especially if I wasn't looking for a giant meal. The service/hospitality was very good, almost too good. After I finished my loaf, I left its wrapper and my number card (for them to locate me for the rest of my order) on the table while I used the restroom, and they were both picked up by an employee doing a sweep. That's arguably on me, who temporarily abandoned a table that looked like it had nothing but garbage on it. Even though it required 10 seconds worth of troubleshooting to get my number back, I don't know how you don't consider that a positive on the part of the staff. The same guy took my "real" garbage on my way out before I had a chance to bring it back inside. Very friendly, pleasant staff. Nice spot if you happen to be around. Will try to sample the coffee options on my next foray. read more

I absolutely adore this cafe, and while I wish there was more seating since it's always packed, the tinyness of the place gives it charm. I stopped in around 10:30a on a Thursday in December to read and enjoy coffee & breakfast. Every table was taken, so I asked a lone gentleman at a 4-top if I could join him, and he graciously accepted. Painstaking is the best word I can use to describe my decision-making around which holiday bevvie to try, and I settled on a peppermint mocha. Y'all, this was the quintessential holiday drink, with a perfect ratio of coffee flavor to chocolate in an actual mug - and not overly sweet. I would come back every day of December to try all of their coffee options based on that gorgeous display of caffeinated artistry. I also got the Prosciutto Avocado Toast with an egg, and it was so good, I savored it over the course of 20-30 minutes, which is a record since I usually win the award for fastest eater at the table (I grew up with brothers, it was Hunger Games in our household... Cloveberry has become my must visit this summer - their coffee has been the fuel to keep my summer training runs going! Great variety but their cold brew with pistachio syrup is one of my must haves! The baristas are always so friendly and even when there's a line it never takes long to get your order! It can be hard to find a table at times when there are a lot of people working from the cafe but it's such a great and cozy spot I can't blame them for wanting to stay. And their front porch is the best place to people watch for bit! Cloveberry has been a go-to for YEARS! Crazy that I haven't left a review yet. It's the best coffee shop in Sparta. Their lattes are always amazing, and the food is too. Love the outdoor seating in the summer and it's cozy inside too during winter. It can be busy sometimes on weekends but that makes sense because it's the best! I love this cafe! I first found out about this place when I lived in town, and now I live 45 minutes away and its still my favorite place to get a chai. Not pictured, but they have an fabulous breakfast cookie that I have tried and failed to replicate at home. Service is fantastic and the vibes are awesome. Super cozy coffee shop that's great for a meetup with your favorite colleagues. We ended up visiting close to closing time, so it was pretty empty inside. I ordered a black cold brew that got the job done for this driver during the rest of our road trip. The Signature Chicken sandwich was delivered to the table a few minutes after ordering -- hot, with fresh ingredients and perfectly puffy ciabatta. This is a really nice coffee bar/bakery/eatery. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a little brunch. It is a cool little place, with about 6-7 tables. They were super busy when we were there and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to open up. You order at the counter and they have limited menus, they did have a QR code that took you to a menu so we didn't have to wait for one to free up. We both got lattes which were well made, I managed to drain mine while we waited for a table. I got a Strawberry White Chocolate muffin which stared me down while I was at the counter ordering, great call by me. My wife ordered her favorite, Avocado Toast. She thought it was a very good meal. Ive come here a few times so far and I love their seasonal drinks! Their dishes are very cute and taste as good as they look. They have good portions and don't cheap out on ingredients. Service is always excellent. The only issues I have with this place is there there is not enough seating and the breakfast menu ends at 11. A few times I came I had to wait for seating to open up. I was driving through town in dire need of a good cafe on a Sunday afternoon. In this cute little town I found this place on Yelp and wasn't sure what to expect but stopped by to give it a try. Originally I had thought it was a sit down and order type place but then realized you had to order at the counter but could sit and eat. I found a menu and was pleasantly surprised by the options. I ended up ordering a latte (I think it was a salted caramel mocha of some sort) with an extra shot of espresso and this amazing sandwich. I forget what it was called exactly but it had ham, cheese, apple, spicy mustard and cranberry? I never had this combo before but I was intrigued. I found a cute little spot by the window in a nice comfy chair and waited for my food. I got the latte within 5 minutes and the food arrived in about 10-15 minutes. When I took my first bite I think I floated off into the clouds. The flavor combinations were unexpected but fit together so well. I savored every bite until it was gone. As I finished my meal and began to clean up I noticed they threw in one of their protein balls as a treat! I believe it was an oatmeal one and wow it was delicious! It has been about a week since I visited and I still think about this sandwich. I wish I lived closer so I could have it more often but I am determined to be back! read more

Cloveberry is one of my favorite frequented stops in Sparta. Their hours have remained unscathed from the Covid pandemic (Mondays-Saturdays: 8-5 and Sundays: 9-3). Although you still can't dine inside, you can still go in and place your order to go or to enjoy on their lovely patio. Of course masks and social distancing are enforced when ordering inside. I love all their coffee selections, the chai lattes and my recent favorites are their smoothies. Today, I ordered the "Rise and Shine" smoothie which is a refreshing blend of peach, mango, turmeric and OJ. Kyle catered to me and made my smoothie without the OJ, and graciously substituted in almond milk and yogurt. Wow, wow, and wow.. I am still shaking from this bad experience. Worst part it was from manager or owner who ever that was, she was extremely rude... I came inside with my dog sat down, waited 1 hour because i saw they were busy, i wasn't in a rush so i waited patiently,but no one came.. My dog barked once and then someone comes over to kick me out because my dog wasn't a service dog.???? after 1 hour of me waiting and sitting there???? Made me feel so embarrassed and people were staring such bad vibes and energy.. So shocked based on the 4.7 rating... I checked the reviews to see i'm not crazy and surely i was not the only one who commented on the owners or managers behavior super shocked. Would highly NOT recommend this place! Before all this crazy-ness was going on, we had a day off on a particularly warm winter day. We opted to visit lake Mohawk but all the walking made hungry. After a quick Yelp search we selected Cloverberry for lunch. It was highly rated, and rightfully so! It's not very big inside but there is enough seating for 20+ peeps for a quick bite or a coffee. The staff was very nice and patient - two hungry kids who are impatient. We decided on their tuna sandwich (surprisingly one of the better tunas I have ever had), a rice dish with Indian spices (very good - wife ordered not me) and - cheese quesadilla (comes with a sliced apple). Their prices were really good along with their prices. Even had a couple of coffees to go and I must say they make a good cup of java. Cloveberry is the cutest little coffee shop with great prices and even better coffee. I'm talking some of the smoothest coffee I've ever had.
