Came by after seeing the sign on the Columbia Bike path parking lot. Great small pub with a local following. Friendly bartender- we felt comfortable and at home. Great AC on a hot day, especially because we were camping nearby and in need of AC for a few minutes. We didn't eat here but the beers were cold and came quickly and we liked the overall atmosphere of this little "pub style" place. read more

Went here for lunch after a hike. Lots of locals, very friendly people and staff and the food tasted fresh. I was a tad bit skeptical thinking that since they are located in such a low-traffic town, they may not be cooking fresh food, but I went ahead and ordered fish and chips. We went to Mrs. Riley's to watch the Superbowl. It's a nice, traditional bar space, not slick at all, warm. There was a cross-section of people there, friends, couples, ages, loud, quiet, and it wasn't crowded, even during the Superbowl. We ordered four appetizers, which we thought would be a perfect meal for two. But the appetizers were large, meant for sharing, and we took quite a bit home. The Caesar salad, cheese nachos, and chicken tenders were nothing to write home about. But there wasn't anything scary about them. The cheeses on the nachos tasted powdery, even though melted and especially as they cooled. The fish tank needs a cleaning. Liked the soap box derby cars. Decent place, nice olde school saloon with wooden floors and a tin or faux-tin ceiling. Big ceiling fans, which was nice on a hot day. Scattered, only-one-working bartender who was fine, grumpy at first that I ordered coffee but she apologized later. Hey it's New Jersey. People snarl. Patrons mostly white country bumpkins, and you can get a Patriot Burger and Freedom Fries, so if you maga and/or kag, you'll feel at home. Prices reasonable, food decent, drinks fine, and they have a local hot sauce made in Clinton. Electric charging station too. I walked the nearby Columbia Trail from Califon (12 miles round trip) so it was a nice watering hole to refresh at. read more

This place is usually awesome and I come here a lot! However tonight the bartender refused to serve me a beer after she had JUST (and I emphasize JUST) called last call, meanwhile pouring everyone else shots and mixed drinks. I love beer. And I drink beer faster than most people can say hello. I was bummed and kind of let down by my favorite bar. It wasn't Tiff or Sasha. Next time, please don't do that to your loyal customers. This is the bar that all the High Bridge locals go to, its a place you can catch whatever game you want to see, and get a beer quickly. It isn't a very big place so on nights that they have a band or its just overcrowded it can be uncomfortable. The food is good middle of the road fare, usually with a few interesting specials thrown in the mix. The drinks are cheap and the bartenders are quick and good at what they do. read more

Amazing local find while driving through High Bridge. My friends and I stopped in on a Saturday night, the restaurant was a little on the empty side however once we tasted our food we were not as skeptical of the place. The salad was fresh, sandwiches and pirogies were all delicious and I would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area. Only negative was I only noticed two people working, one bartender and one waitress, and when we were done with our dinners our plates did sit in front of us empty until we paid and left. read more

Great bar! They have amazing Phillie cheese stake a nice juke box machine. A dart board and amazing dining. The lighting is wonderful and dark. It's just that the waitresses are not pretty enough. And I think they could be more pretty because most of them are in there 50's and 40s and a bit wrinkly. Despite that the food is delicious it's the best food ever! Great place to sit down and get a bear! It would rock your world also I'm only 20 years old but it's pretty good for family stuff I mean the kids would love it! read more

Went in for a beer on St. Patrick's Day, $6.50 for a domestic pint. Every time I decide to give this place "one more chance" it's a huge disappointment... I won't eat there anymore, always hideous. This place is horrible. My cousins and I got completely wasted two thanksgivings ago and decided to continue the action at a local bar. We drove there and proceeded to lose 60$ in billiards games. My one cousin was belligerent drunk and made a complete ass out of himself and also verbally fought with the manager. After several more drinks which were good we drove back home safely by the grace of god and wrestled in my house til we passed out. read more

Great place, unpretentious old school gin mill with good food. "cheers" type atmosphere. The mayor and the mailman can hang out here and get sloshed without any scandal. The one thing that keeps this place from being a super incredible old school gin mill is the annoying Boston Red Socks mementos all over the place. On the walls etc and I think there's like a shrine type of glass booth set up.... I'm not a huge baseball guy to begin with but I'm from NY and have lived in NJ for a long time. Yankee country. Not being a huge fan, I don't mind seeing some Red Socks things. but this owner seems to get in everyone's face with it. It's over the top and makes me feel he's purposely trying to annoy Yankee fans. Being a crazed fan in your home is one thing. Not cool or smart if you own a business. Why annoy anyone? Nothing more than a dive bar. There's so much potential in this place, but it's just a place that serves bad drinks and below average good. It needs to get out of the old dive bar scene and cater to more Sophisticated patrons. The wine and beer offerings are antiquated. I'm There's so much money and quality offered in a different, more upscale type of modern establishment. No town needs this type of dive bar in 2016. read more
