We've been coming here for ar a decade at this point and always enjoy the Peruvian food here. We stopped by for lunch which we haven't done in a long time and really enjoyed our rice bowls. I got the Ceviche Bowl (delicious and so fresh!) and my husband got the Aji de Gallina Bowl. The portions were super generous (I took home half of mine) and they were so tasty! We came here last night to celebrate my sister's birthday. Very charming place! There are not a ton of tables so make sure you make a reservation. This has got to be one of the best restaurants I've ever ate at! This Peruvian-Mexican establishment is a must eat location! One of the best Lomo's you can get in NJ and beyond. They sure know how to cook it right I tell ya! we were greeted by a friendly and wonderful waitress and had a choice to sit inside or outside which was nice. The restaurant is very spacious and can accommodate large families. They had some interesting specials. The fresh pico was out of this world! I need it jarred and then a jar! the ceviche was fresh and succulent. Everything was really really good. Prices are fair for the times. Portions were big! Didn't end up needing the sampler of empanadas. None were bad but chicken or beef is the way to go if your diet tolerates it. Oh actually! The chorizo was bomb! But it's not their star. What a find! Peruvian all day please! Really enjoyed this restaurant within spitting distance from New Hope, PA. Right over the bridge you will find this restaurant that has great ambiance within their outdoor seating with Mexican and Peruvian decorations throughout. Mofongo - Mofongo is a dish from Puerto Rico with plantains as its main ingredient. Plantains are picked green, cut into pieces and typically fried but can be boiled or roasted, then mashed with salt, garlic, broth, and olive oil in a wooden pilón. I loved this side order, which was the best comfort food ever, right up there with cornbread in my book. Highly recommend. Chicha Morada - Exotic drink made of purple Peruvian corn! This drink had a flavor of hickory smoked cherry black cola I would describe and was unlike anything I had before. I really enjoyed this drink and highly recommend on a hot day. Chicken Empanada - We had ours made gluten free and this came out very hot. We put some of our elote and guac app in the empanda to add some flavor. This item was good but with so many different offerings here next time I would choose something else. This place was fairly busy at around 3pm on Sunday so if you plan on coming, I recommend either making reservations or not going at peak times unless you do not mind waiting. We were lucky enough that we did not have to wait to be seated but the staff looked very busy so if you can come at an off time prob would not be a bad move. The food is not authentic. It's basic food, if you are a foodie and know authentic quality food. The hibiscus drink is ehhh they put cinnamon in it and it over powers the flavor. They do charge you for the normally complementary chips, although the salsa is tasty. The tacos and the burritos were a hard pass for me. The food lacks flavor, salt and authenticity. It is also byob. The outside ambience is cute although they asked us if we had reservations which apparently you need for inside, but the inside looks like a hole in the wall and not appeasing at all. Just finished an amazing lunch at El Tule, a Peruvian-Mexican Restaurant in Lamberville NJ. I give this restaurant an A plus. Excellent fresh food and a very friendly staff. It is a family-owned restaurant and they go above and beyond with their menu and their service. I had the El Costenito Plate with delicious grilled Flounder, Yuca Fries with a cold criolla pepper sauce to dip the Yuca fries in (both Yummy)with a nice side salad with lettuce and Avocado, lightly dressed with a tasty light white dressing. I shared a homemade flan with my husband. Just heavenly. It is homemade by the mother who originally with her husband opened the restaurant now the next generation run it and often serve as servers or cooks. The restaurant is cutely decorated and has both indoor and outdoor seating. I think this is my favorite local restaurant. read more

Great service. We came at 5pm on a Thursday. You seem like most people eat outside instead of inside, so I felt like I had to see what it was all about.. The seating was really so nice and peaceful . I really felt like I was in Mexico, enjoying the cool music and sipping on my ice cold glass of jamaica! I was in absolute HEAVEN!! We ordered some chips and dips to start ! Delicious!! After being told how good this place is we went to see for ourselves for lunch. It's a small, very average restaurant with limited ambiance located in an off beat area of Lambertville. We like all sorts of cuisine, including Mexican and South American. My dish, sorry to say was dry and almost tasted as if warmed over, you know the thing. The outside dining area is very nice. However, our lunch today left much to be desired. The bowl of gazpacho soup for 8$ during the height of the tomato season was a thin purée. It tasted like it came out of a can. It was also extremely small in size, more like a cup. The chicken in our enchiladas was on the dry side and the tomato sauce not special at all. The rice and beans were good. However, in addition, the menu is deceiving. Apparently they charge extra for chicken or any other kind of meat in the enchiladas but the only thing it says on the menu is an extra charge for shrimp for three dollars. Our bill came with a four dollar extra charge - we complained and they downgraded it by two dollars. Wow. We understand that things are expensive, but the menu should be correct. We tried this place once 10 years ago and thought it was just okay, and we thought we'd give it another chance - but not again. read more

An absolutely delicious meal and a very not-so-hidden gem in Lambertville. Stopped in with my mom on a Saturday night and the place was bustling. Because it was just the two of us, we got a table pretty quickly but there were people waiting outside at most times throughout the night. We started with overeating on the chips and salsa that they had on the table (duh) and an order of the fried plantains (our favorite) and although I will always think my mom makes the best fried plantains, these were a very close second. For my main, I got the Coliflor Saltada Tacu. It is like a veggie stir fry with lots of cauliflower, peppers and onions. I added shrimp to it and loved every bite. It came on a bed of tacu tacu which is just fried beans and rice. I ended up taking half of it home because the portions were huge. But it was delicious. My mom got one of the dishes with strip steak and liked hers a lot as well. Just a little note that there was no option to request a preference for how you'd like the meat cooked. If you love Peruvian or Mexican, you'll love it here. It is colorful and cozy and quaint and lively and I can't wait for another trip. I am disappointed because I really wanted to enjoy this meal. This was our first time visiting Lamberville and wanted to try out El Tule based on the reviews. Quick to be seated and staff were friendly. They helped navigate through the menu. Ambiance was colorful and its a cozy little space. Plenty of outdoor too with heater tikis. However the food itself was very disappointing. The Chimichanga and Enchiladas were so bland, not enough seasoning and just missed the mark. The rice was hard, beans lacked salt. Absolutely fantastic meal. We were a group of 6, including 2 kids. There was something for everyone on this menu, including the kids. Plenty of the dishes can be made vegan which was helpful for our party (however, none of the desserts are vegan, as a side note). The server was extremely helpful and attentive. Guacamole was excellent. My daughter had the kids soft tacos and loved them. It was also her first time trying beans - she absolutely loved them as well. I had the beef sopas- they were absolutely delicious. I see people complaining about the prices... we were 6 people, it was $171 which is really not that expensive. I guess it depends on what you order. I felt that the prices were more than fair for the quality and quantity of food received. I had plenty left over for lunch the next day. It was my mother-in-law's birthday and they brought her a complimentary dessert. Great place! read more

Oh no! What has happened to one of our top five favorite restaurants?! And...they don't answer the phone...so frustrating! Prices have increased considerably and the quality has decreased dramatically. We were surprised to get a short notice reservation (on their website) as in the past we had to make reservations way in advance for a prime time reservation. Friday night and the place was pretty empty...quite shocking. To top that off service was pretty bad. The meat in the "Lomo Saltado" was tough, stringy and over cooked. The two other dishes were lack luster and far from a "wow". Really a shame we wasted a very special night. read more

Charming mom & pop Peruvian & Mexican BYO restaurant. Great menu! This was our second visit and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites! The ceviche trilogy is absolutely fantastic sampler (and quite a large portion)! I had the Carapulcra (pork stew) - tender like butter and very flavorful. My wife had the Picante De Mariscos Tucu Tucu - wow! Absolutely delicious! Both portions were large enough that we had to take some home. Dining room is bright and homey. Service was pleasant and engaging. We went early on a Sunday night (5:30 pm) and by 6:00 pm the place was packed. We already know what we want to eat the next time we go - which can't be soon enough! I wanted to try this place so bad for a long time and was left severely disappointed. First of all after walking in my small group was told to go back outside and someone will seat us. They should have a host out front then because entering and then being told to go back outside felt a little unwelcoming. We sat down and asked our server if we could split the check between the two couples. Server said "no. One check. One transaction" we asked why not and he said "we used to split transactions for years but now it's 1 transaction". That didn't explain anything, all that told me is that it can be done but they won't do it just because? That same server dropped a lot rice from my friends plate on the floor as he was setting it on the table, he said he would bring out more to rice and never did. That same server dropped dirty knife on my foot as he was cleaning up. After we left 2 of us had rice in our shoes from that server dropping it. The prices were way too expensive and the food was bland. I only gave 2 stars because some people at my table did like their food. But the service was so uncomfortable. read more

What a great experience! We found El Tule as we were looking to try someplace different in the Lambertville / New Hope area. The reviews here led us to the restaurant, and we're so glad they did! El Tule is easily found on the street, and we were lucky enough to find a metered parking space nearby. It was a beautiful day so we opted to eat outside on their patio. The area is beautifully decorated and ambient music gently floats in the breeze. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. My hubby ordered ceviche shrimp ,and his meal was visually stunning and truly delicious. I opted for the lomo saltado, and I was blown away at the size of the portion, the plating, and most of all the tender & delicious beefy goodness. The seasoning was superb! We had lunch one warm weekend in Nov 2020 at this place. They had outdoor seating with social distancing to take care of COVID restrictions. The place was clean, decent outdoor seating arrangement given the limited space they had to work with. Food was fresh and tasty. We tried vegan tostone, chicken chimichanga, veggie enchiladas, shrimp bowl. Everything was fresh and tasty. An interesting thing we tried out was a drink made with hibiscus flower. We have wanted to go to El Tule for years now, and last night we finally went! The space is. So cute, and the outside area is adorable. We will be coming back for the outdoor section in the summer. Our waiter was awesome and had many recommendations. We took him up on his recs and ordered the guac-elote & ceviche chifa (fusion). Both were soooo good & I can't wait to come back and have it again. For our dinners my husband got the shrimp mofongo, which he enjoyed. I had the steak that came with rice/beans and cheese enchiladas smothered in mole sauce. SO GOOD. My only regret is that I wish I was more hungry by the time my meal came!!
