We had such a great night at Geronimo's Peruvian Cuisine in Ambler with some of our military friends! The food was absolutely fabulous, and the service was excellent from start to finish. I had the 1/2 Pollo a la Brasa Geronimo's -- charcoal-roasted chicken in their Peruvian marinade, served with salad, a side, and Geronimo's sauce. The chicken was incredibly flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked, and that sauce was SO good! Definitely something I would order again. Another big plus: they're BYOB, which makes it such a fun spot for a relaxed dinner with friends. Great food, wonderful service, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. We'll absolutely be back! Honestly, this place just feels good the second you walk in but quick heads up, you'll want to make a reservation. It gets busy, and now I understand why. You can tell Daniel (the owner) actually cares about how everything runs. The place is clean, organized, and everything flows smoothly without feeling rushed. And Christina... she's seriously the best. Super friendly, easy to talk to, and actually helps guide you through the menu. She was on point with the specials and made great recommendations. We even got into a conversation about her trip to Peru, which was a really cool touch it felt natural, not forced, and made the whole experience better. We started with the Leche de Tigre, and it was a perfect opener, fresh, citrusy, and packed with flavor. You get that brightness from the lime with just the right kick, plus the calamari added a nice texture. We also tried one of the specials, the causa, which was light but still full of flavor and a great way to start. For the mains, we went all in. The Cowboy Steak (18 oz bone-in ribeye) was easily the highlight, cooked right, super flavorful, and paired with the huancaína risotto and that huacatay butter... yeah, that combo is no joke. We also had the pollo a la brasa (special, marinated 24 hours), and you can tell it was super juicy, well-seasoned, and done right. We also had the pasta con mariscos, and this one deserves its own mention. Homemade pasta with shrimp, calamari, and mussels in a chupe-style tomato broth rich, flavorful, and comforting without feeling too heavy. Definitely one of those dishes you keep going back to. And I'm not even exaggerating... the table bread with the butter? We were eating like it was part of the main course. That butter is ridiculously good. Dessert sealed it. The lava cake with lucuma ice cream was warm, rich, and balanced out perfectly by the ice cream. We also tried the house-made guanábana sorbet, which was light, refreshing, and the perfect way to finish after a heavy meal. The vibe is what really ties it all together. It's casual enough to hang out with friends and talk, but still nice enough for a date night or bringing family. It doesn't try too hard, and that's exactly why it works. Overall, everything just clicked: food, service, atmosphere. No weak spots. Definitely coming back. Though my experience was in 2023, it was excellent. We happened to park in front of it on n way to Ambler Theater for matinee, once out and back to car, we noticed paella was on menu for dinner, so we popped in, as I quickly ducked across street for some wine and had the paella. Fresh made, took a bit of time but we weren't in hurry, ordered an appetizer and once our meal arrived it was delicious. Peruvian paella is different... no seafood... but it was terrific. As was the atmosphere of music, nice lively diners but not rudely annoying, manager came around chatting with folks and light music was jazzy but subtle. We sampled a couple of dishes though sounded interesting. The Peruvian corn got things started and it only got better from there. Order Causas Limeñas because I've never heard of this dish before. It looks like a dessert but it layered meat (there's a vegetarian option), potatoes, and peppers. I wasn't that hungry so we split an order of Lomo Saltado. Awesome value for me. I wish we order some ceviche (which they are known for. I'll have to save that for next time. The staff were professionals. Knew the menu inside and out. My wife visited for her birthday dinner after enjoying their to-go location in Chalfont. Our expectations were based on Don Hectors, and Geronimo's lived up to our expectations. It' starts with the staff who were so attentive and informative. They knew the menu and helped us make great choices. The ambience was also a plus, it's a mid to small sized restaurant - it's cozy and active in all the eat ways. The food was wonderful, we started with the classic ceviche (star of the show) which was absolutely amazing! My wife got the Arroz Con Marisvos and I got the Tacu-Tacu. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. We split the lava cake for dessert, which came with some Peruvian ice cream that has a caramel flavor to it. I typed all of this and forgot to mention the amazing butter that accompanied the dinner roll. Zip over to Ambler and check them out, we'll probably see you there. read more

Five of us dined at Geronimo's on a Friday evening. The restaurant is very nice and well decorated. My husband had the Ceviche Clasico for an appetizer, which I liked more than he did. He had the Pasta Con Mariscos, which he liked. My parents both ordered a Caesar salad - they forgot the croutons on my dad's salad even though only my mom didn't want them. I ordered the salmon, which was very good. My dad had the Lomo Saltado, which he thought was fine but not great. My mom had the Pollo Limon, which she wasn't crazy about. She said that the meat lacked much taste and could have used more seasoning. My daughter had macaroni and cheese from the kids menu - she's 6, so I definitely appreciated that they had this option. Dessert was fine. My parents and my husband both had the Apple Crisp, which takes a long time to come - but is delicious. My daughter wanted Lava Cake, and liked it - but it wasn't hot by the time it came out (probably because they were waiting on the apple crisp) Our server was pleasant but we had to flag her down often for various things, like missing utensils. A fairly expensive meal - above average - I'd try them again in the future. read more

Cute restaurant we found in Ambler for date night! The ambiance was really romantic. It was not extremely dark which I appreciated. The servers were so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food came out pretty quick too. The calamari was nice and crunchy and I forgot the name of the white sauce that came with it, but it was so tasty! My husband got the chicken special and normally we don't order chicken at restaurants but the chicken was so juicy and tender! The Geronimo sauce came with it and it elevated the taste! I dipped my fries into the her Geronimo sauce as well. My lomo Saltado was cooked to perfection. It was so tender. I recommend giving this restaurant a try! We were also given on our table warm bread with fig butter on the side Appetizers: Grilled Octopus - excellent , the octopus was grilled to perfection, the purple sauce was very tasty, avocado pieces, grilled red bell peppers and 3 garlic toasted toast Sea Bass Ceviche- corns, red onions, seas bass was soo tender and tasty. Vinegar and lemon combined to perfection. Scallops - 4 shells. Cook with cheese on top, the scallops were cooked to perfection. LOMO SALTADO Stir fry marinated tenderloin cubes with red onions , tomato and French fries, served with rice. My son had this meal, the meal arrived temperature hot. My son enjoyed the meal. His plate was empty. He said he was happy with the food. Seafood Paella special for the night I shared this with my husband The food arrived temperature and so much seafood. Went for an impromptu date night. We had no reservation, but Daniel the host invited us with a huge smile and welcomed us in. Luckily, since it was early in the evening, there were still a few tables available. Daniel explained to us each dish in detail. It was our first time trying out this Peruvian restaurant in Ambler which is just about a year old. It was the dream come true for two brothers from Peru with a passion for sharing their cultural favorites. The restaurant is nicely decorated with soft music playing that creates a nice atmosphere. The tables are neatly set providing ample space between them. It's restaurant week so we took advantage of a fixed menu. It was a nice change and forced us to try something different. Our server was delightful and even one of the owners took time to share the story behind the dishes. His love for sharing their dishes was obvious. The experience began with Peruvian popcorn and bread with a fruit butter. Both were unique and enjoyable. Our first course was a chilled potato causa which I found very refreshing. I had the winter squash soup which was very warm and flavorful with and a bit sweet. The other option was a salad which also had a sweet dressing and was not as interesting. I had the stuffed pepper as my main course. It had great flavor along with a mushroom cream sauce and potato au gratin. I was very happy with my selection. My wife had the Peruvian chicken stir fry which had a soy ginger sauce and showcased the Asian influence within Peru. It too was very tasty. Our dessert was a caramel Suspiro. It was creamy and sweet. Overall, we had a great time. I always love seeing the pride and passion behind the scenes. That's what makes places like this special. We were amazed by Geronimo's and I would highly recommend a visit to this cute BYO. I haven't seen many Peruvian places outside of the city, so was anxious to try Geronimo's once I saw it. We were lucky enough to grab a table without a reservation. Once seated, we were quickly greeted by our waitress who reviewed the menu and specials. She also provided us with a small cup of a Peruvian corn snack, Cancha I believe, which we enjoyed while reviewing the menu. You also get fresh bread with this sweet butter. We started with what Peru is known for with a classic ceviche. They had a few ceviche options, although none were on the menu officially yet. Our was centered around sea bass. As others have said, it was amazing. It was also a nice portion size for an appetizer, easily shared by two. For entrees, I went with their seafood rice dish special. Tons of seafood (shrimp, scallops, mussels) on a bed of rice cooked in seafood broth. From the rating, you should figure I liked it! We also got the Tacu Tacu, a short rib dish. It came with pickled onions on the side, but I recommend you go ahead and mix them all in. We left with a small doggie bag knowing the portions and value were on point. I'll leave it to you to decide on timing for a visit, but I know I will be back. read more

I had wanted to try this well-established, highly-rated, Peruvian BYOB in Ambler for a while, & finally had the opportunity. Be forewarned, parking on a Saturday night is virtually impossible, though there is a large parking lot next door. The lot itself, is a maze; a myriad of one-way entrances & exits, leading to dead ends, necessitating backing out, leaving the lot, & circling the block. Two of our 5 cars took more than 30 minutes to find a spot! Now, on to the restaurant. There was a welcoming hostess in the small ante room who showed me inside to my table. The restaurant is charming & the right size for conversations. The room had lovely, crisp white linens, a delicate fresh flower in a small bud vase, water glasses filled, & a corn nut snack on the table. The walls had Peruvian art which was colorful & tasteful. Our waitress came over to deliver the menus, which were beautifully crafted, heavy, carved wood binders which held the menus, including apps, soups & salads, ceviches, entrees & desserts. The entrees are somewhat limited with steaks, their famous charcoal oven roasted chicken, & a Peruvian beef stew. Beware cilantro haters (moi!) - there is cilantro in almost every dish or side dish. The menu has authentic recipes, but I found it somewhat difficult to decide what to order since there were no descriptions of the dishes. What was the sauce 'rococo' or 'huancaino' sauce. The waitress was wonderful & patient, but I just couldn't remember which sauce was which. I started with the Shrimp Chowder, which was more of a broth than a chowder, which I imagined would be a thick base with some potatoes & shrimp. This was a superb, complicated brown broth, with 2 perfectly cooked large shrimp, the bottom of which had a few kernels of corn, peas & rice. I can't even begin to guess at the ingredients in the broth, but it was unlike anything else I've ever tasted. My friend had the potato appetizer, & was not impressed by the cold boiled potatoes in a creamy, yellow, rather flavorless sauce. I tasted & concurred. Another friend picked a winner with 4 large perfectly seared diver scallops served on the half shell, surrounded by chopped tomato, red onion, & cilantro. For dinner, I chose the grilled chicken breast, which was to be served with a cilantro risotto, but was happily exchanged for their other risotto served with grilled carrots & asparagus. The marinade on the perfectly pounded thin chicken breast cutlets was delicious & so full of flavor, that I didn't even look for the salt & pepper. Two juicy cutlets served with a very generous amount of risotto - there was enough left over for a full dinner again the next night. Although I was full, my friend & I decided to split a dessert, & we immediately settled on the apple coconut crisp with ice cream (we chose the creamy, decadent butterscotch ice cream.) The warm dessert was like Sunday brunch-in-your-jammies comfort food along with a loving hug - warm, crispy oatmeal crumbles surrounding a large scoop of homemade ice cream. As we each took our first bites, we almost giggled with delight & moaned in ecstasy. This was what I didn't know I wanted. Totally satisfied, with food for another meal, the total bill with tax & tip (& the 1/2 of the dessert $7 of $14.00) was $60.00. Worth every cent! When I go back, it won't be on a Saturday night, only because of the parking. read more

I was hankering for Peruvian cuisine. The fish dishes that I have had a Peruvian restaurants have been flavorful and I was hoping to get some Red Snapper here. Unfortunately, they did not have Red Snapper. I ordered the Concha's Parmesana appetizer (Broiled Scallops and Parmesan Cheese) and Lomo Saltado (A stir fry of marinated strips of sirloin with onions, tomatoes, french fries, and other ingredients served with rice). Both dishes were absolutely delicious. I was glad that I drove for nearly an hour to eat here. My server, Daniel, humored me as I tried to speak Spanish with him. Many of the items in the dish were in shells, such as the lobster tails, which was attached to the shells which probably is okay for a lot of people but I would have prefer if everything was separate from the shells. The complimentary puffed corn bread and butter were delicious! So glad we tried many different dishes. There wasn't anything that we did not like it. On 7/26/2024, a Friday, we had our first meal here. And I will start by saying this was the best dining experience I've had in a very long time. Everything was top notch. The place was packed, but not loud. The tables were full, yet the service stayed attentive, reactive, and timely. Not a moment went by when a fork appeared, or more ice, or even just a "How are you doing?" query from the staff. And the food? We began with two orders of PULPO AL OLIVA, and the octopus was perfect. But what made the appetizer was the Botija Olive sauce. It was creamy, smooth, and its taste was the perfect accompaniment. We then had an order of TEQUEÑOS, which were fantastic after the octopus, and then an order of CEVICHE GERONIMO´S. Our entrees were LOMO SALTADO (beef was tender), ARROZ CON MARISCOS (the lobster and scallops and shrimp were fantastic), and we had two of day's specials POLLO A LA BRAZA (chicken cooked to perfection). Every thing was simply so good, we had nothing to do but enjoy the entire experience. I do not want to gush too much, but the meal we had, and the service? Simply fantastic. We had dinner last night and the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and did a great job explaining the different dishes and a bit of their history. We got the Yucca Rellana and Causas Limenas with crabmeat for appetizers and they were delicious. I ordered the half roasted chicken special and my wife got the Pasta con Mariscos, both of which we loved. Our friends got the Pollo a la Parilla and the Tallarines Verdes con Milanesa and said how good it was. Then we all shared the Lava cake at the end which we all enjoyed. Portions were just the right size and since it was BYOB it wasn't even that expensive. Will definitely go there again and will recommend it to our friends. read more
