Blown away with the service at Spring House. It was our first time at the Tavern. We ordered an espresso martini, french onion soup, snapper soup, burger, chicken parm, and dessert. Everything was delicious, however my burger had been way overcooked. The manager rectified the issue and went above and beyond which seems like a thing of the past anymore. In a world where many restaurants simply don't care, that is not the case here. Looking forward to returning. read more

Met a ex coworker for late lunch on weekday. It was crowded and later crowded with the elderly population. Many having cocktails. We sat at bar, our bartender and server was very professional and accommodating. We ordered espresso martini drinks the best in the burbs, mussels, soft brie with bread and crackers, wings and a sandwich. The food was amazing and best wings in the burbs perfectly flavored and cooked. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Few of the mussels tasted odd. Would definitely select Spring House Tavern again!!! We booked my Mom's birthday party here and the planning & service was so easy and the event itself was wonderful! We brought a group of 35 people and the Spring House Tavern Team made everything so easy for me to enjoy the day. The planning took just a few emails and our menu included 4 meal options that guests could choose at the event - and they even accommodated two children's meals and gluten free options. Spring House Tavern is yet another in a series of eateries I have recently encountered that elicits a rather frustrating bundle of mixed emotions... It also provides a graphic illustration of why any self-respecting food writer should dine at least twice at a given restaurant before penning a review. For our party of five, this was a return visit to the Tavern. Our first experience had been quite satisfying; regrettably, the second proved to be somewhat less so. But let's begin on an upbeat note... To put the matter as succinctly as possible: We like the place. It has a nice feel about it; definitely a cut above establishments of similar ilk. The various dining areas and bustling bar are exceedingly comfortable, the service is attentive and personable, and the classic American cuisine during our first visit was quite good. With our second visit, however, food became something of an issue. Starters like Snapper Soup and Crispy Shrimp received high marks. On the other hand, Caesar Salad was generic at best. Moving on to the entrées, those that ordered some variation of beef seemed to fare the best. The Crab Cake, on the other hand, was pronounced okay but hardly memorable. The real culprit, however, which was ordered by several members of our party - this writer included - was the Salmon Bruschetta, a baked salmon filet topped with a mixture of tomatoes, garlic, basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Sounds great, doesn't it...? And it looked even better. Just one little problem... It was completely tasteless. The salmon itself was slightly overcooked, which undoubtedly was a contributory factor. That being said, however, given the presence of all the nifty above-mentioned accoutrements, you would assume that they would be capable of awakening slumbering palates. Not a chance. This is one fish that was dead in the water. Anything even approximating flavor was purely coincidental. My choice of side dishes also proved to be somewhat problematic. For while the Mashed Potatoes were quite good, the Brussels Sprouts with Bacon were so undercooked as to be inedible. Conversely, the Peanut Butter Explosion, a luscious amalgam of peanut butter and chocolate, was simply outrageous... and oh-so-very-delicious. French pastry chef and chocolatier Jacques Torres obviously nailed it: "Life is short, eat dessert first." read more

My husband recently had a surprise birthday party for me. We are regular customers at Springhouse Tavern so this choice was very simple. Working with Karleigh and her team was seamless, communication was clear and concise. There's a specific event portal for event planning. There were several menu packages and drink options that would please anyone. The appetizer choices were many and all of them were delicious! The Gwynedd room was very accommodating and there was plenty of room for 45 people. The table settings were very pretty, a pretty table for our cake and gifts. Our servers Rylee and Chris were professional and so friendly . They did a superb job. All dinner choices were delicious and people are still raving about the food" everything was perfect" We never waited for anything, meals and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. Spring House Tavern accommodated our group for a retirement dinner in their spacious Gwynedd room. The crispy shrimp, Swedish meatballs, and Caprese kebabs were hit! They offered five scrumptious dinner options. We were also able to bring our own cake, which they kindly served alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. I was here for a party in a private room so I can't attest to regular sit down service, however, the food we had was AMAZING! Two huge crab cakes were my choice from the menu and they were phenomenal. I was lucky enough to have leftovers :) full of delicous crab!!! I ordered extra lemons to really set it off. 11/13/22 We had looked at this venue initially for a bridal shower for my daughter- then the "C" word happened. Altogether now- "Covid" . . . So of course our event had to be cancelled. We really liked the banquet manager and the location when we initially visited the location. We chose to rebook and try again for our baby shower. The room was snug but ample enough for our guest list of nearly 50. I was very pleased with the food quality and selections. The service was good as well. Our meal was the choice of spinach tortellini, filet mignon (5oz), crab cake, or roasted half chicken. With the meal mashed potatoes, broccoli, salad and roll and butter were served. I have to say that my crab cake was delicious and it was pure crab through and through- plus no old bay seasoning (not a fan of old bay so that was a big plus for me) even the broccoli was steamed to perfection and the mashed redskin potato's were savory and tasty. Everyone loved the food. Along with that soft drinks were all included, plus coffee and Icecream with choc syrup. I understand this location hosts funeral luncheon gatherings as well. It's not easy to find a restaurant to host a banquet. Even w 50 we didn't have to pre- order. That was impressive to me- all of our guests ordered off the menu. I wish I lived closer because this venue reminds me of 7 Stars from the same era. I would certainly dine here if I lived near the area and wasn't 70 miles away. The building itself is historical and interesting. Cozy and comfortable. We decorated the room to our liking and our event was 3 hours long with a hard stop at 3:30 because another gathering was hosted following ours. Two years ago we had the most positive experience hosting a wedding rehearsal dinner at The SpringHouse Tavern. So, when we needed a venue for a 70th wedding anniversary celebration, our first choice was to go back to The SpringHouse Tavern. And, once again, we were beyond pleased with the entire experience. Owner and Banquet Manager Karleigh Burns made the planning so easy! Our event was held in the rustic Hunt Room a private space featuring beautiful stained wood and stone accents. Guests chose from 5 delicious menu items and the food was just amazing! Our server Emma was so attentive throughout the entire night. She even patiently photographed our entire group so we could have a picture perfect memory of our great family time! 1st visit here, we had an excellent experience! Our server, Emma, was perfect throughout the meal. The ambiance here is actually whatever you want it to be. We chose the dining room which was great for date night conversation, reasonable noise level. Other areas (i.e. the bar, outside patio, Hunt Room appeared to be more active). We were very happy with our food selections: Baked Onion soup (great version), shrimp cocktail (firm,plump shrimp), Crab Saute (a signature here and the hit of the night) and the Prime Rib (nice size, tender and tasty). I struggled with the rating as I wanted to give a local place a higher score but two glaring negatives for us were the high prices and the lack of flavoring in our dinners. Service was only ok. Our wings were solid. The spicy shrimp were good. Our dinners were flat and bland. Deserts were a little better but expensive. Overall, prices are way too high for the average level of service and average quality of food. Ambiance is nothing special either. read more

Everything was perfect..EVERYTHING!!The staff were attentive, the food was great, the room was perfect, but our server Leo was phenomenal!! Since I am a self-proclaimed "wings" expert and I dropped PJ Whelihan's to the bottom of the wings list just 2 or so weeks ago, I MUST upgrade Spring House Tavern chicken wings to 5 STARS. Crispy on the outside and still juicy under the crunchy first bite. And the blue cheese dressing is very very good, not the weak ass shit that some places just throw on a plate. I made a mistake and booked for 7 when it was just my wife and I. The staff immediately fixed the problem and we had a great dinner. We have a couples group we dine with and I will be taking them to dinner here soon. Caylie our server, Doug the host & the general manager all came by to make sure we were good. We held a college graduation at Spring House with our large extended family. The food was fantastic! Everyone was complimenting how wonderful the luncheon was! The service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect! We weren't able to secure a room, but Karleigh went out of her way to make sure we had the perfect spot for family to still mingle and enjoy, which worked out well since we had 2 tables of 14 each to seat. We will absolutely be back again and recommend Spring House to others. :) read more
