We were in Flemington and decided to have a late lunch. The web site had an attractive selection of items and caught our attention. We are so glad we chose to dine there. From the greeting, to the service and the menu options we were pleasantly surprised. For us this was a high value choice. The food was superb, the Spanakopita with it's layers of pastry and fresh spinach was wonderful. The roasted eggplant in the Mesakka was easily my wife's favorite item. For us it is a two hour trip to Flemington but we are looking for a reason to bring family and return to the area just to share this experience. A side note, the server, Summer, did a fantastic job making us feel welcome and part of the family. To top everything off we finished our meal with "Cakes in a Can". The owner's wife, Yara, apparently spends hours each day making these attractive and tasty treats. I had the Raspberry and Pistacio. They are right to be very proud of her efforts. The food was delicious (we had several salads, both chicken and lamb souvlaki which came with rice, salad abd french fries, hummus, baba ganoush, spicy feta with pita bread ...) The coffee was so strong and nice, and came in the cutest cups and saucers that looked like purses. And there are cake parfaits (photo below) in a variety of flavors. I had pistachio and chocolate, my sister had the strawberry shortcake - everything was fresh and flavorful. They can accomodate larger groups but it is best to call ahead as it is a popular place. I recently visited this Egyptian restaurant in Flemington, and I feel like more people should know that it's been under new ownership for the past few years. It's such a great local spot, and I don't think enough people realize what it is or how good it's become. My mom and I stopped in for lunch and sat outside on Main Street, which was honestly so lovely. It felt really special to just sit, enjoy a great meal, and be part of the community. We met Mo, who took such great care of us and made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. We started with the hummus, which was incredibly fresh and smooth, and you could tell everything was made with care. For our mains, we had the lamb chops and the lemon chicken, both of which were delicious. The lamb was tender and perfectly cooked, and the lemon chicken had such a bright, balanced flavor. The potatoes were a standout, roasted and finished in a lemon butter that made them unforgettable. If you haven't been in a while, or didn't realize there's been a change, it's definitely worth stopping in. 5 stars, found this place by accident on Yelp while on route to New Hope Pennsylvania. This is a nice cozy spot in the heart of Flemington NJ. Great courteous service by Tito. One of the owner Mo, stopped by our table to ask how things were. He was engaging and genuine. The food was very good. This was a quick bite as I had dinner planned for about 4 hours from this lunch. Started with the falafel balls which came with Hummus. They had great flavor and it was a good portion. Sampled 2 salads, these were the bistro salad and the beet salad. Both were great ( see photos). All the food is fresh, not frozen, and made with love according to Mo. He was extremely proud and I definitely enjoyed the experience. I found Bistro 55 on Yelp. It had great reviews and now I know why. It's just a little place in a strip of stores right on Main St Flemington. Easy to find. It's decorated super cute and the bathrooms are clean. You can ByO , which we did and they gave us wine glasses. The food was so good! We got a 3 dip platter for an appetizer to share and then we split a mix grill platter for dinner. Everything was delicious and flavorful! The service was excellent. We came for dinner at 6pm on a Friday night and the street wasn't crowded, so parking was really easy. The restaurant was fairly empty. There were black table cloths with faux candles on each table, so the overall ambience was cozy. The food was delicious. I got the gyro platter and it was amazing. The rice was a little on the dry side, but still good. I think the fries were seasoned with some kind of blend, so they look dark but are not overcooked. The gyro meat was flavorful and amazing. This little place is a nice surprise. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. David, our waiter, was also warm & friendly but gave you space to enjoy the food. My husband enjoyed his salmon very much. I had a platter , Shaah (?), with different meat kebabs, grilled veggies, rice and a tahini sauce, plus some french fries. It was really good as everything was well seasoned and the sauce was delicious. I took my leftovers home. We even tried the pistachio baklava which was delicious!! This is a brand new restaurant in an old space. They are now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The interior color scheme has been changed from the previous establishment to be a little more vibrant. They can use some decor on the walls and maybe some curtains to make it feel a little cozier overall. We came during breakfast time. There was only one other table occupied while we were there. The complimentary starter was very tasty. It tastes very similar to hummus but I think it contained some bean other than chick peas. Our waitress didn't tell us what it was and I forgot to ask. First thing I noticed is that there are no pork products available so don't expect your bacon, Taylor ham or pork sausage for breakfast. They do offer beef or Turkey alternatives though. I ordered a customized egg white omelet with spinach, tomatoes and onions and a little bit of cheddar cheese. It was served with potatoes. Everything tasted delicious and was presented nicely. The only problem was that I requested cheddar and I'm 99% certain I received an American cheese product. No biggie - it was still tasty. The staff was very pleasant and eager to please. You should come give it a try for yourself. If you do, be patient, as the kitchen is VERY slow at this point as I'm assuming they're still figuring things out. I would definitely come back to try the lunch and dinner options in the hopes that they have some Egyptian options available (they're the same owners as Little Egypt down the road . . . ) read more

I thought there might be a chance that I would not be able to do it because of my budget but Moe, the owner, worked with me on menu items, service, and timing of the event. We just had the party today and it was a huge success. The food was amazing, service was top-notch, the restaurant was spotless, we even had some bubble tea. So the waiter was very nice. And the pistachio baklava was very good. But sadly that is where it ended for us. They only offer single bottles of still or sparkling water which is pay per bottle. Sodas are canned and again pay per. We ordered three dips for an appetizer and got basically one serving pita which some of the edges were stale on it. It wasn't enough bread for the amount of dip so we asked for more, $4 for another single serving of pita bread. The dips were ok. Then our meals came, the one platter the seafood was over cooked but seasoned ok. Lemon chicken was ok. The gyro platter was good portion size but the meat was just ok. The large salad was disappointing, absolutely drowned in a too tart balsamic glaze and it didn't come with a cheese like some others did so when asked for some feta again another additional fee plus for the price of a large salad the portion size was small. The desserts were the highlight crème brûlée and baklava were good. Then when check came again if you use card an additional 3% fee is added. While I understand fees for card usage are hard for businesses they automatically added it to the receipt so it looked like an item ordered. Way too expensive for a less than mediocre meal. read more

This past Thursday, we went to Bistro 55on Main Street Flemington for an early dinner. What a wonderful meal we had! One of the owners, Moe, served us. What an incredibly nice man. He made sure every part of our meal was enjoyable. We ordered the spanakopita and three Pyramids for appetizers. Loved the eggplant Mesakaa the most. My spouse ordered a gyro platter which was delicious and plentiful. I ordered the lamb kabobs. Again, outstanding. The rice that comes with the meal was a showstopper! Dessert was also very good with key lime pie and mango pudding. Little did we know that Tuesday and Thursday are over 55 discount days. 15% off! What an unexpected surprise. Randomly picked Sunday breakfast at Bistro 55. Lots of menu item that were traditional breakfast , but then the variety of omelets is the difference. Start with the coffee, not a diner version, but good flavor rich coffee. The eggs Benedict was cooked perfect with home-made hollandaise sauce that was perfect. The protein omelet was delicious with short rib meat and veggies. There is no pork option, so beef bacon was a first for us. It was very good. The whole bronzini was also delicious it was prepared with a lemon caper sauce and butterflied open with delicious seasonings. To finish off, we had delicious creamy buklava.
