    Garlic shrimp platter
    Beth B.

We've had great Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Jamaican and French food in Philadelphia and Hoboken recently. But good ethnic restaurants are rare in the Flemington area. We tried the Latin American restaurant Mi Rosita tonight and the food was delicious. Our waitress recommended the churrasco steak and the garlic shrimp platters, which were flavorful and perfectly cooked. Looking forward to trying other items on their extensive menu. It helps if you know a bit of Spanish when ordering.

We met Tosita and had a nice Honduran meal after hanging at the Ironbound Ciderfest. We started with the chickarone papisas that we added pickled cabbage and tomato salsa and some fried plantains. Good way to start. Then we had the chicken-stesk-plantain-rice-bean-avacado-thing and it was good. Muchas gracias Rosita!

Decided to give this place a try because of the perfect reviews and the items on the menu looked very appetizing. When I first pulled up I didn't know whether they were open or closed, this place was a complete ghost town! At 2pm on a Monday I was expecting more then just the cook, the waitress and myself to be the only people at the location. I must say the restaurant was clean almost alittle to clean, like maybe it's so clean because they don't have many customers, but I digress. I was sorta greeted with "want food?" Um yeah why else would I be here? I quickly realized there is a major language barrier but don't let this deture you to coming here because this won't have any interference when ordering because the menu is mostly photos. I ordered the grilled chicken, rice, beans and slaw/salad togo. Service was quick and accurate, but the chicken was semi dry but I'm not sure if there is a correlation with the distance I traveled to find the place or was the chicken simply dry either way it wasn't that bad it was good just dry. The rice was simple plan rice so nothing fancy there BUT the bean OMG were perfect!!!! Not to thick, mushy or fake tasting but creamy and whipped perfectly. I should have ordered an extra side of just beans. I didn't try the salad/slaw concoction because it had a smell, wasnt unpleasent, I didn't think would satisfy my pallet. I also got a mixed (pork, beans and cheese) papusa which tasted pretty good. They also provided a red hot sauce that was flavorful and not to spicy. Overall I couldn't give them a 5 star just yet because of the chicken but for sure I would like to dine in in the very near future.

Bandeja Catracha, with cheese pupusas and Bistec Encebollado in the background. Very generous portion sizes!

Finding this place was a pleasant surprise - I had been looking for a good Central American restaurant in Hunterdon County (which is rich in Italian restaurants and not much else). We ordered pupusas (cheese filled cornmeal pancakes) to start, and they came with curtido (pickled cabbage) and hot sauce. I got a Bandeja Catracha, which had steak with onions, marinated fried chicken, rice, beans, avocado, fried plantain, and a slice of fresh cheese. Along with a tamarind drink, it was all delicious! The steak in particular was seasoned really well. The waitress was super friendly, and spoke both English and Spanish. We'll definitely be coming back!

I walked in and two super nice young ladies were making and serving the food. I appreciated that I was greeted right away and my order taken right away. If Yelp had star options for both the food and the service, I definitely would have given them 4 or 5 stars. I almost always go completely overboard when I try a place the first time. I picked up almost $80 worth of takeout so that I could try a little bit of everything. I really, really wanted to love the food here but I didn't. Unfortunately I didn't really find anything that I ordered that flavorful. The food wasn't bad by any means, it just didn't have the delicious flavors that I normally associate with great Puerto Rican food. As I mentioned it was an unbelievably hot day so maybe the cook was having an off day because of that. If I'm ever driving by there, I'd probably give it another chance since it has such great reviews from other people.

So upon doing my research I came across this restaurant. Now of course upon reading reviews everyone said to get there early because the line can get long especially on a Saturday and Sunday morning. So we arrived around 8:30 on Saturday and we were seated right away because it was only two of us . The service was excellent we were seated right away . Our waiter came out and gave us the rundown of the menu . They had a promo menu because of the Devil Wears Prada movie . I did get a specialty non alcoholic drink from the menu which was excellent. We ordered the French toast and the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and it came with smoked salmon on sourdough bread . The French toast was so good and moist you didn't even need to add additional syrup . The food was delicious and the portion sizes are perfect . So coming here carries a bit of nostalgia for us. This concept feels very different from the original. It's definitely a more modern, upscale take. Portions are smaller, prices are higher, and the menu feels more elevated with a mix of Cuban-inspired and American flavors rather than strictly traditional Cuban comfort food. That said, the food is genuinely very good. The Cuban sandwich was easily one of the best we've had in New Jersey. Unlike many places that mostly use ham with a thin layer of pork, this one had thick, flavorful pieces of pork that made it feel much more authentic. A few other favorites: - The tostones with guacamole were a great starter. - Their chocolate latte used to be one of our favorites (sadly it seems to have been replaced by a raspberry chocolate version, which wasn't for us). - The seasonal pumpkin iced latte was excellent. - The strawberry banana waffles were more than enough to share. - The scrambled eggs and thick-cut bacon were fresh and delicious. We spent about $140 for breakfast for a family of four, so it's definitely on the pricier side, but it felt fitting for a special occasion like Mother's Day. A heads-up: reservations are only accepted for parties of six or more, so smaller groups are first come, first served. On Mother's Day, we waited about an hour after arriving at 8:30 AM, but their digital waitlist system made it easy to track our place in line while running errands nearby. Do we miss the old Martino's? Absolutely. The larger portions and casual family feel were special to us. But this restaurant offers something different--more polished, more curated, and still very enjoyable. I'd recommend it for brunch dates, family celebrations, or when you want to treat yourself.
