I ate here for the first time tonight during Musikfest. The empanadas were out of this world. They were the best empanadas I've ever eaten.

This friendly no frills cafe serves delicious Puerto Rican food. I loved my tamarindo drink and the chicken was luscious. My favorite was the sweet plantains. The tv screen showed gorgeous seaside vistas and the place had darling Christmas decorations. read more

Wonderful experience during MusikFest! We ate outdoors, on the sidewalk, while listening to a wonderful guitarist and vocalist. We had both Shrimp and Pork Rind (chicharrón) Trifongo: Mofongo made with Cassava, Green and Mature Plaintains (Maduros). As good as any you can get in Puerto Rico! Service was excellent. I've been wanting to try this restaurant on Main Street for a while, since I've yet to find a really good one in the Bay Area repping the Dominican Republic. I was pleasantly surprised here! So much so that I came two days in a row, which I rarely ever do anywhere. The lunch special is awesome! For under $10, I got a plate of food that could probably feed at least 3 people. Twice I got the lunch special of pork with yellow rice. Omg, the skin was super crispy and the pork was moist too. The chicharron also looked good. It's very flavorful without being salty, which can be tricky sometimes. The restaurant is on the smaller side and very casual. In particular, I really like the steam table for lunch, where you can actually see and pick out your food. I got to pick out the part of the pork I wanted, which I liked. Service is ok. The lunch special is a really great deal! And the best deal on Main Street, IMHO. If I lived closer, I'd come all the time for the lunch deal! read more

Casa Del Mofongo is a Dominican restaurant that specializes in Latin cuisine. This restaurant can be found on Main St. in Bethlehem. For those of you who don't know, Mofongo is made with fried green plantains mashed together with chicharrones (crispy pork skin) and fresh garlic. I ordered Chicken Empanadas and Roasted Pork Mofongo. The Empanadas were some of the best I've ever had, and even though I'm not a huge fan of plantains, the Mofongo was enjoyable. okay so I've been here before and it was a good service and the food was ok! if you're coming here for mofongo if you thinking about getting the chicharron just don't ! get the pernil instead! I made that mistake the chicharron is not how a Dominican or Puerto Rican will usually make it more like a colombian salvadorian etc it's a waste of money and they are false advertising with the photos. the chicharron is really hard even the fat is hard nothing about it is tender but the skin which it should be the other way around. read more

Went because I ready the great reviews regarding the lunch special. The food was good. I had yellow rice and beef stew. It had one small potato no carrots. It was a small portion of meat. I would have loved some of the veggies and more sauce. No tap water available. I did the check in on yelp for a free empanada. Showed it to the waitress twice. Said she had to ask her manager and never followed through. I was less than enthusiastic about the portions and the customer service was a let down. The food was good though. read more

Went there today before going to Wind Creek to play some Slots. We stumbled upon this place right before the pandemic and fell in love with it. This was our first time back since then and it did not disappoint. The food is outstanding and the people that work there are fantastic. We will be back probably in a few weeks. If your anywhere in the area the historic downtown area of Bethlehem Pa is is quaint but beautiful. All you have to do is top it off with a delicious meal from Casa Del Mofongo and maybe some winnings from the casino and you had a great day. read more

We visited Casa Del Mofongo today as part of the Soup tour. First, the soup was excellent and I think we all agreed it was #1 on our tour. Second, to be honest, I dont like mofongo! I've had it in Puerto Rico and just didn't like it as I don't like the non-sweet plantains (LOVE the sweet ones). However, having the opportunity to visit as part of the soup tour showed me they are SO much more than mofongo!!! I was drooling over the wonderful food they had on the serving station. Absolutely beautiful ribs, 1/2 chickens, crispy pork and terrific sides. Those ribs and chicken have my name on them and I can't wait to come back and try some. Was there a log jam at the local health inspectors office? This place is nasty truly disgusting. I wanted some good Mofongo and on a Sunday night decided that it was the time to try Casa Del Mofongo. Oh boy was I wrong. Upon walking in, I was hit with this off smell like something wasn't right, but I was so eager to have good Mofongo that I said I will just sit outside and everything will be okay. That's my fault I should have immediately left and taken my business else where. Upon sitting down a very nice server came out and asked to take my order. For her alone I will give this establishment a star. She informed me that they were out of most of their empanadas except cheese and beef and cheese. Ok all good, I went with the beef and cheese and a build my own mofongo... boy was I in for a ride. The Empanada tasted middle of the pack at best. It came with this really weird sauce that tasted somewhat like thousand island, god was it bad. It added little flavor to the empanadas which tasted frozen! I got two orders of mofongo, one chicken and one pork. The pork one tasted alright not terrible, but I didn't want to finish it, I would have rather just thrown away the $12 than keep eating so take that as you will. Still it was edible. The Garlic sauce they provided was horrid, it was literally just minced garlic, which tasted like it was the kind from the jar, in olive oil. It was putrid and nasty. The worst part however was the chicken mofongo, it had a BONE in the CENTER of it. Upon telling another server who came out to check on me, he took it back, called our waitress who came out with another server for some odd reason who proceeded to lean on the chair almost to intimidate me. Once again our waitress was nice, gave us a free dessert, and handled the situation well. Hours later, I went home and got violently ill and that's the only thing I had in my stomach that day. The health inspectors office needs to come check this place out. This place has menu prices of $30.00 USD per person and up. Normally when you demand that high of prices you can afford to have a good establishment... clearly not. I would recommend avoiding this place and going to another restaurant you want to try this place is NASTY. read more

An awesome addition to downtown Bethlehem. Some of the best Latin American food in the area, and the spot is too cute. The mofongo is good but I dream of the empanadas, especially the shrimp empanadas. It's not the easiest place to be a vegetarian or a pescatarian but even if there are relatively few options, they are really delicious! read more

Only one visit for takeout but it is the real deal for Caribbean/Dominican food. Had the Family Chicken Package1 that fed my wife and I for 2 meals each. I also had the chicken mofongo and my only suggestion is that they make caldo/broth one of the side dressings for it. As we are just getting into the warmer weather, I hope to return and sit down for a meal, possibly at one of their sidewalk tables. It is also reasonably priced. Nice area too! read more

Nice place, good food, and great location. I like it. One of the best Mofongo places I have been. Empanadas were great. We had cheese one and shrimp one, the cheese was excellent (shrimp one did not have much shrimp in it). The service was quick and attentative. If In Bethlehem area, I will go again. We had Shrimps (Camerons) with Casava (yuca) with Creole sauce, Delicious. They originally offered Thanksgiving Mofongo, but they sold out. I asked for desert they were sold out too. We also ordered rice with beans which was great. They usually have Flan and Tres Leche. I guess Monday is bad day for visit. read more

This spot is a great addition and option for Spanish for in the neighborhood. One of the best mofongo I had in a while. It comes with this "salsa criolla" which adds lots of flavor to the mix. The owner was super nice and even explained how he makes some of his sauces. His service is top-notch. One can tell he is really passionate about his cooking. Thank you for the complementary dessert. We had roasted chicken, yellow rice and gondules, plantains, tostones, yucca boiled, beef & cheese empanadas, and chicken empanadas. Everything was delicious! And the portion size was plentiful. I ate lunch here three consecutive days and was very happy with my meals. It reminded me of a Cuban restaurant I used to eat at when I worked in South Florida.
