The best pupusas and burrito in the area. I was a regular customer when Francisco worked in Plainfield, NJ. He then opened up his own place in Bethlehem but we have moved to Florida, so when we're up in the area we stop in and enjoy a treat. Francisco if you read this I would like to get the recipe for the burrito and the sauce that you serve it with. It's torture to have to wait a year to go back up there. I will make an attempt to reach out to you for the recipe, Happy New Year. read more

A cool restaurant on the corner of Center and E Broad St with Salvadoran cuisine. I've had very minimal experience with this type of cuisine, so I was pretty excited to find this place close to where I was staying. The whole street the restaurant is on feels steeped in history and this place was no exception. They have pretty expansive list of plates. I ordered the Desayuno Tipico (beans, eggs with salsa, sausage, curtido, a slice of cheese, and pupusas) and it was amazing! I can see why this place is packed during the lunch rush. The prices were reasonable and the portions large. I was able to experience this place earlier in the morning, so it felt like I had the place to myself. I look forward to trying more from this cuisine when the opportunity presents itself! Thanks for a great experience. read more

Staff wasn't the friendliest, food took a while to prepare when there was nobody else ordering food in the restaurant at the time I ordered. There's a picture taped to the wall and the price of a Tres Leche is supposedly about $10 for a small piece...? read more

Just moved to the area and love pupusas. Haven't had them since moving from CA. This place is great. The food is top notch and service is great. Will 100 percent be back very soon. Didn't try the tamales but a lot of people were ordering them and they looked great too. read more

This is our 3rd time here. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it before. We drive from Harrisburg to eat here and get some pupusas to go. The food is absolutely amazing. The pupusas remind me of Los Angeles. The Carne Asada burrito was covered in cheese. My son got the Carne Asada torta and it was also good. read more

Very nice people but the reason I'm giving 5 stars is because of their amazing pupuso! I haven't had a good pupuso for years (since I was in California) and these are the first homemade delicious pupusas I have has since! Bean and cheese is the way to go read more

I just ate my first pupusa. WHAT!? It's like a pancakey thing with cheese, pork, beans, and you put hot sauce and a salad on it. WOW. Delicious and very filling. I like this little corner place and I have to return because I want more! Read this description of breakfast and tell me you aren't hungry for it: "Desayuno Tipico: 2 eggs, beans, sweet plantain, chorizo, sour cream, pupusas." I'm drooling on my keyboard. The steaks, fish and seafood look amazing. Francisco (I'm just guessing that's his name...) says he's open Wednesday-Saturday 10:00-9:00 (even though his hours say he opens at 9 am, he typically doesn't open til 10am) Sunday 11:00-9:00, and closed on Tuesdays. read more

Hubby & I just had lunch here, having eaten here two or three times before, each time leaving well fed & satisfied. I had the carne asada (seasoned skirt steak) w/ onions & hubby had the carne asada w/ salsa. Both came with rice & beans, handmade corn tortillas, & mine came w/ a salad. We also had coffee & lemonade. The entire bill plus tax & tip was only $30. Just a simple, flavorful, wonderful lunch. The place itself is small & situated on the corner of Broad St. & Center St. just east of Historic Bethlehem. There are a 1/2 dozen tables or so covered in plastic, an ordering counter (they do table service as well), & a soda cooler. The service is good when it's not too crowded. Be prepared to wait since the food is freshly made. Even tho I'm stuffed, I don't feel like I just ate a big pile of meat covered in cheese & sour cream & tortilla chips. Now there's nothing wrong w/ that, but getting back to the basics of good hispanic food is the best way to go. We will be back! read more

I really enjoyed the pupusas here the curtido that comes with it is a bit different and has a bit of spice to it than the one I'm use to. Overall it's still good the place does not open Tuesday which is different but I have made a trip or two at first forgetting it was closed. I have never had the soup but did see it and all the dishes I have seen look great and presentable. The service is great but I would definitely call ahead and place my order 20 min before arriving if you are a bit hungry and don't want to wait to long to be seated therefore reserve a table, the place is a bit small but it's a pleasant place to dine or take out. read more

Wouldn't claim to be an expert on the cuisine but had exposure to legit Salvadoran food when living in the Washington, DC area. I found the papusas and especially the tamales here to be as good as any i've had anywhere. Well cooked and super flavorful, especially the tamales. Didn't love the yucca con chicharone as much, though to be fair that dish is always going to suffer as takeaway. Will visit again to further explore the menu. And get more tamales...did I mention the tamales were great? read more

My mother, sister, and I have been craving pupusas but never knew of a place that sold them. Came across this place and couldnt pass it up. Ordered the tamarind juice and it was perfect. Great little Latin American spot in Bethlehem! Great flavor and spices! We had the pupusas, tamale, pork belly, fried plantain, refried beans and sour cream, and stuffed empanadas. This is by far the best Latin American spot in the valley. It's more Guatemalan cuisine than Mexican. Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. Ambiance was small (about 8 tables) and authentic. It's BYOB. You can order take-out. Definitely worth a visit, or ten. read more

Definitely recommend this place for anyone who is trying to have a Hispanic meal. As Latinos, sometimes we just want to eat Latin food and I feel as though in PA, the options are VERY limited. This place is perfect for meals of the day plus they are fulling :) We always get the pupusas revueltas and we never forget the 4 for $1 delicious cookies! read more

Thought to finally try Francisco's today. Most prices in the "sweet spot", less than $10. Not fancy or large. Menu had more selections than expected which is a mixed blessing: hard to decide given all the tempting choices. Plate pictures on wall helps. Decided we'll have to come back for other things. We hadn't ordered anything yet. Pupusa and a burrito X 2. Bring Your Own Bottle. This food is delicious. I would not call this Tex-Mex. This is superb "Spanish" or Latin American cooking. And plenty. Our standards are high having lived in Texas for over 20 years and acquired a real appreciation of foods from south of our border. We will go back. read more

Great authentic Salvadorian pupusas and other Latino plates. Stop by to eat lunch and dinner pupusas. You can't go wrong.

FINALLY I found an Authentic place! The food is DELICIOUS. The staff is very friendly! And they cooked it pretty fast! HIGHLY recommend the popusas! read more

Another satisfying meal. Although im not familiar with El Salvadorian food, I trust that the food was authentic; however the food is so good it doesn't even matter! FOOD: although previous Yelpers raved about certain menu items, you just never know, so we ordered one steak (absolutely DELICIOUS!) which was griiled and extremely tender. I usually have to resort to using some type of sauce to mask the rubbery low quality taste, from some of these local joints, but not here. Even the wife who absolutely loathes steak kept cutting away at it. In addition, I got the grilled fish, no words can explain how satisfied I was, my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. It was so good, the wife referred to me as Heathcliff bc there was nothing left but a sad fish skeleton. The fish came with yellow rice which had just enough flavor, but not enough to over power the star of the plate. I enjoyed the refried beans, but the wife thought they lacked flavor and were a bit too thick for her liking. Now to the famous cheese and pork pumpusa, that was AWESOME! Very flavorful and satisfying. If I never order anything else ever it will be the pumpusa. Guacamole was eh nothing to write home about, actually it didnt taste like it was from their kitchen at all, infact maybe from a local grocery stores freezer section. Oh, they did serve some type of pickled relish looking salad, but me nor the wife tried it. Took about 15 min to recieve, although we were the only people in the restaurant, but it was all fresh and piping hot. AMBIANCE: although the owner is very nice and friendly, he doesnt seem used to first timers, he greeted us and the wife and I had to figure out what to do next, which was okay and we weren't bothered, but just a heads up. The place is pretty layed back jeans and flip flops type place. Clean restrooms too. CON: the only one I can think of is bottled/canned drinks so this means no free refills! OVERALL: ABSOLUTELY WE WILL ADD THIS PLACE TO THE ROTATION FOR SURE! Mon, Thurs, Fri and Sat. 10 - 830pm Tues and Wed 10 - 7 Sun 2 - 830pm read more

I have been here 2-3 times. I mostly go for the popusas, which are vet good, and have had an empanada, which was also very good! I haven't had much variety here yet. Very authentic, warm place. A friend drives from Lancaster to get his pupusa fix! read more

This place really hits the spot. Their pupusas are inexpensive and delicious, and the people who run it are attentive, genuine, and very kind. I just wanted a light meal, so had one pupusa for $2. Perfect! It was so delicious though, that had I eaten it there, I probably would've ordered five more. I'm looking forward to having breakfast there soon! read more
