Good, fresh food! Always hot. Very good service!!!!give it a try when you have a moment.

Worst Mexican food i have ever had. I got 4 pieces of shrimp in fajita mix, liquid for avacado, steak was tough and wraps were not well fried/cooked. I could taste the raw mix. Never again $70 down the drain. read more

2.5 delivery review Ha don't eye on this spot for a few months and finally pulled the trigger. The reviews are amazing and so our the pictures but our delivery was disappointing. Two steaks quasadillas, two chicken tacos and steak nachos. Tacos were bland. The quasadillas were basic with only steak and a cheese that was very hard and not tasty. Mediocre dipping sauces, one red and one green. The nachos were decent but not great. $35 seemed a little steep given the absence of quality and taste. First time last time. read more

The fact that this place has 4.5 stars makes me never want to trust reviews again. I honestly don't remember the last meal I had that was this bad, and I'm a terrible cook. 3 people, $60 and not a single one of us ate much. read more

They had to just about roll me out of this place this morning. Get the mixed pupusas combo, sure to cure a Saturday morning hangover. The chips and salsa are fresh and homemade and the horchata made me feel all was right in the world. Fast service, fresh food, not hard on the wallet. Perfect brunch place. read more

I never give one star, but yesterday I got a asada burrito. I called to place the order and specifically asked what's inside and he said grilled steak. I kid you not there was 99% fat and a sliver of actual steak it was disgusting. Waste of $14. I called and they didn't care that I was unhappy. This whole plaza is a waste it's disgusting. I should've taken a picture but I threw it away asap. Never going back. read more

El Rey de Oros (The King of Diamonds) is another excellent Mexican/Salvadoran restaurant in the heart of Bucks County, PA. It sits in a small commercial strip on West Moreland Avenue, Hatboro; the last storefront, farthest from Blair Mill Road. Once inside, you find about ten tables with the counter and kitchen in the back of the house. I was greeted warmly by one of the owners, who guided me to a corner table and handed me their menu. Most of the offerings were Mexican, with a few Salvadoran specialties. I selected the chili rellenos (stuffed chili) dinner, which included rice, beans and a basket of four hot tortillas. It took a while for my meal to arrive, but when it did, I immediately saw how big the poblano pepper was, and was advised by la senora that the dish was made from scratch for me. I could taste the difference. The queso stuffing was plentiful; the egg wrap completely encased the pepper, and the red salsa on top was fresh and piquant. A totally delicious take on this standard. This was one of my favorite Mexican dishes taken to a new level of satisfaction. Yes. It was worth the wait. I also appreciated the old school approach to the chips and salsa gracing my table gratis. In the new world where many restaurants now charge for this table snack, it was very nice to have them placed in front of me with just a smile. In that regard, the chips were served warm and crunchy. The salsa was placed on the table in plastic rockets for squirting into small black bowls. They were smooth versions of hot sauce, and at first I missed the chunks of tomato, pepper and onion. The taste was the same, it just lacked the thickness I normally associate with salsa. I'll give them a pass on that. This King of Diamonds is a full house of Mexican/Salvadoran cuisine. Definitely, worth a stop on your visits south of the border. read more

My husband and I consider ourselves foodies. We prefer ethnic, spicy and authentic. I'll eat anything, as long as it's not too unhealthy, and as long as I can get it dairy/veggie/kosher. Tonight our search led us to El Rey de Oros in Hatboro. Its a cute little place, only slightly more upscale than a pizza place, but with authentic touches of Mexican and Salvadorian decor. The food was simple and delicious. I chose a whole fried tilapia, which had decorative cuts in it causing it to be crispy throughout despite not being breaded. My husband had the burrito with tasty beef. Each had a side of rice and beans. The food was very authentic. Best of all is the lovely family who owns this place. They are warm and welcoming and are willing to accommodate their food to your tastes. This is the kind of establishment I like to support, and I look forward to returning time and again. read more

I've ordered the Pozole twice in the last week - seriously it's that good. The broth was just the right amount of spicy, the chunks of pork were juicy, and it cured my hangover in minutes - what more could you want? I also recommend the tinga/carnitas tostadas. They come in an order of three and were huge! A great deal for the price. On top of all that, the service was phenomenal. Every employee I've met through delivery or over the phone was super polite. As an LA native I've been searching for an authentic Mexican spot that reminds me of home and this place was definitely it. My only regret is not taking an pictures - definitely next time! read more

I'm really leaning towards higher but I'd love to try more of their menu first. We were out shopping one weekend and wanted to find somewhere to grab a quick bite for lunch. I saw this place pop up and was interested to see it listed as Salvadoran. I scanned the menu online and caught there were pupusas as well as a California burrito. We gave it a shot! First, I was excited they had jamaica/hisbiscus tea. I love that stuff. My wife kept it simple with chicken enchiladas. I got the California burrito, a "mixed" pupusa, and a cheese pupusa. I had asked for a chicken pupusa as my second, but I think they misheard me. No biggie. The burrito was pretty good. I'd say nothing too spectacular, but the fact they had a California burrito was a nice surprise. The pupusas were great. Thin, good corn flavor, not overly stuffed, but tasty. They had a bunch of sauces and also left a big jar of pickled veggies at the table. I'd say the one thing that was a little downer was we ordered some guacamole and the portion size was a little teeny. Otherwise, a place I'd like to explore some more. read more

Great food. Our first time ordering and what great flavorful food. The pozole was great huge chunks of meat great broth with all the fixings. Street tacos were great and flavor Al. Great portion sizes. Only reason no 5 was the salsa - not great but guac was tasty. Will be back. read more

Yum. This place was really good. Their chips were the way I like them - thick and well done. The 2 sauces (a green and hot red) were great with the chips and on my meal. I got 2 cheese and 2 chicken enchiladas with a side of rice and beans. The enchiladas were really good. Cheesy for the cheese and tasty with the chicken. The beans and rice were really good too. Lastly, our service was TOP NOTCH. The gentleman that served us was incredibly attentive and made our meal even better. read more

My wife and I have only done take-out, and the portion size is good, but the food isn't as good as it used to be.

Setting (+): It's nothing fancy, but has all the essentials like adequate seating, clean space and good lighting. Service (++): I've been here at least three times and all three times the service was absolutely wonderful. The waiter was super attentive and helpful. Food (+): I always get their tacos and my absolute favorites are chicken and shrimp. The side of Mexican rice is quite delicious as well. The chips taste fresh and you can always substitute beans for pico de gallo if you're not a fan of beans. Price/value (+): I love the you pick 3 tacos deal in which they charge you the same no matter which tacos you pick. Doesn't matter if it's shrimp or chicken, still the same price for the combo. Portions are decent and filling. Bottom line: One of my favorite spots for Mexican bites in the area. I highly recommend if you're hungry for some tacos. read more

I have been coming here for years and never lets me down! Delicious and savory every time!

It's been a very long time since I visited this restaurant. I recall the owner being very nice. The food was just ok.

Hadn't had Salvadorian food and thought we'd give it a try. The very friendly & helpful Server pointed us to the Pupusas - which for lack of a better explanation, are pancakes with stuffing. I got a combination plate with 3 different stuffing's along with refried beans, rice and guacamole. Our server said to put the Cole-slaw type salad on top of the pupusas as well as a dressing that was also brought to the table. It was very different as well as delicious. The winner however were the Carnitas Tacos, with the marinated pork being some of the best we've ever tasted. The Chicken & marinated Chorizo Tacos were also very good. The Salvadorian Tamales with Chicken & Potato, although good, were not a favorite. For the 3 of us, with tax & tip and a couple of sodas, the bill came to around $40. Well worth a repeat visit! (It's a BYO) read more

What a huge disappointment; we were between this place and another and decided to stop here because of the reviews. Between the misunderstood order placed and the flavorless food; we left disappointed. Even the sad looking chips that were presented, lacked the typical small dish of salsa. Service: Ok, but I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas and got the combo including chicken. Limited soda options and no fountain drinks. Food: Faijta plate lacked flavor. Coworker had 3 tacos and said they were ok. Lacked variety of proteins; no Al-pastor Overall: Fairly priced, but better options out there. read more

We got the orchata, pupusas, fried tilapia and chicharrones burrito. The orchata drink tasted really good vanilla flavor. The pupusas were tasty but nothing too crazy about them. I got the tilapia because I saw a lot of yelp pictures of them. It was fried nicely and came with rice and beans. The burrito was filling but did not have as much meat. They also served chips and salsa, but the salsas were spicy!! Watch out! read more

Got all sorts of tacos, beef tongue, shrimp and sliced beef. The shrimp taco was my favorite.

If you want authentic Latin food, this is your spot! It's kind of in a weird location, but besides that the food is fresh and made with love! I got the shrimp/chicken fajitas. Once again, the Yelp Nation comes through! Searching for a new breakfast spot were we, and El Rey repeatedly surfaced in our Yelp results. The owner, who prepared our meal and personally served us, was an incredibly warm and engaging chap. He and his wife recently relocated from California to be near their daughter and son-in-law, and they brought with them a multitude of authentic Mexican and Salvadoran recipes. The coffee, served in a ginormous mug, was flavorful and steamy. Perfect on a cold wintry morn. Mr. M wordlessly inhaled (really) his cheese omelet. What distinguished my omelet from the norm was the abundance of beautifully caramelized vegetables, including onions and peppers, juxtaposed with barely wilted baby spinach. So flavorful was the filling that the omelet otherwise required little seasoning. The eggs were airy (without being too fluffy) with just a kiss of browning here and there. Meanwhile, the home fries were moist and flavorful. Importantly, the printed breakfast menu does not cover all of the restaurant's offerings. The owner told us that Huevos Rancheros, for example, will be made upon request. This is also one of the few local restaurants that offers posole (including a menudo version). We look forward to many return visits! read more

This place is alright. They are pretty close to authentic Mexican food and the server is constantly checking in on you since the place is small so you will usually get what you need pretty quickly. The food price is a bit on the higher side for simple Mexican food but the quality is moderate-high. I just think the portions are a big small; especially the burritos. I am a big fan of big burritos but this place is pretty small to the other Mexican restaurants around the area and they lack the sauces such as a chipotle sauce. other foods are pretty good and its portions are just right. I just like burritos personally so if you are looking for a good burrito, I would recommend going elsewhere otherwise, this place is pretty solid read more

We were in town for the please touch museum and stayed at a hotel near El Rey. The yelp reviews sent us here and well...lets just say we highly disagree about the quality of the food. This is more like a bad/mediocre home cook trying to do a restaurant. Based on other reviewers we tried the spinach and cheese pupusa and the beef burritos. And we also tried the chichuron. The pupusa is what it is, can't really go wrong there. Melted cheese and pan fried, pretty good I suppose. But I haven't had enough pupusas in my life to tell if it is truly good or bad. But it definitely goes down hill from there. The beef burrito, size is good. Flavor not so much. The beef hadn't been sautéed or chargrilled. There was no color to it (see picture.) Doesn't even taste marinated. Rice, unremarkable, refried beans, typical fare. Chichuron, it was all fat and only fat. I think it's supposed to have a little bit of meat on it. We ordered to go and they didn't put the sauce on the side so it was soggy fat. I wish they'd spoken up and either recommended that we didn't order this dish to go, or packed it the right way. The sauces...can't tell if the salsa is supposed to be salsa. Overall, felt like we wasted an opportunity to have better food in Philly. read more

It was my wife's birthday weekend and we came down from northern NJ to have some fun time together. After signing out of our hotel on the way back home, we stopped at El Reys' for breakfast. I find breakfast to be the most boring meal of the day and I really wanted more than the customary eggs & toast. First, the bathroom was immaculate, and I've read this reflects the attitude of a restaurant. Osmin, not sure if he was a co-owner, warmly welcomed us as we entered. He readily explained the menu and when he noted that we really wanted something more than-the-usual-&-customary, prepared a breakfast that included 'mexican-prepared' eggs, black beans, central american sour cream and cheese (both had a distinctive and pleasant taste), and sweet banana. My wife and I are still talking about that breakfast 3 days later. As we were leaving, the owner just walked in and immediately smiled and welcomed us again. El Ray do Oros was clean, warm with quality service and food at a far lower price than those places simply serving eggs & toast AND, may only smile at you when they are serving the check. We will go back when we are in the area again. read more

El Rey de Oros - A breakfast that's much more than toast & eggs - Salvadoran Near Me - Hatboro, Pennsylvania

Had to try this place based on the reviews alone. I read about the pupusas that were mentioned multiple times, never had one. After trying them, I may be hooked. My favorite was the chicken and cheese. I missed the spinach choice which I hear may be the best, next visit I guess. I picked the bean and cheese burrito which was great as well, nice portion. The other person in my party picked the California burrito which the liked as well. The people running the shop are the owners and their family, they aim to please which shows not only in the food but how they engage the customers. They make you remember what customer service is like versus the bigger chains. We need to stop by for breakfast, always looking for more go-to breakfast stops to be added to my list. Oh yelp, you've steered me awry this time. When I went to El Rey, yelp had given this place 4.5 stars. I was blown away by the stars, but not by the food. The food isn't bad. The chips as a starter was actually really good. Tastes fresh, yet not oily at all. And when dipped into the green sauce on the table, it had the perfect amount of crunch and spice. The rest of the food was just average. The menu was all over the place - I was looking for a Tinga burrito - not offered. However, there's Tinga fries! Wifey wanted a shrimp taco - not on the menu. But they did have shrimp fajitas! The waiter said the chef would be able to make it, but it's weird that it's not on the menu. So wife did the shrimp fajitas. The fajitas came out quick, but came out incorrect. Wife requested her entree have the salad's sour cream on the side. They brought it out with sour cream on top, and an additional side of sour cream. No big deal, but later I was charged for the additional side. And they took her plate back to just take off the pieces of lettuce with sour cream. And yes, I said plate. Aren't fajitas usually served on skillets? Not here. Came out on a plate, already cooked. She noted her shrimp was grilled very well, but there wasn't too many pieces of shrimp. Lots of onions though. My carnitas burrito came out ginormous, but it seemed short on carnitas too. And there's no sour cream on the burrito - I used my paid-for sour cream for that. I only ate half as I was full from chips. No sauce on top of your burrito either as some other places do with mole, tomatillo, or verde. Not offered here. Service was really friendly, and the place isn't too big (in a somewhat busy plaza), but I think the food leaves a lil more to be desired than I'd like. And the prices aren't THAT great. Because of that, I probably wouldn't try this place again. Too many places in the area that offer Mexican, so onto they next one!! read more
