What once was Ginny's, along NJ Route 12 on the way to Frenchtown, just next to the state police station now is the home of Gaby's Cafe. A charming roadside cafe that not only serves up Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner but also offers ice cream & coffee. We found this by chance on our way to Frenchtown and were excited to check it out. Inviting from the street with its clean exterior and bright umbrella covered tables we couldn't resist. The interior is decorated with florals and is cozy and comfortable. A ginormous menu has lots to choose from and excited and friendly staff were eager to serve. The owner was even working behind the counter and greeted us. (Always a nice touch) Our food was served with a smile and perfect temperature. The flavors were somewhat disappointing as I was expecting a "savory waffle" what was described on the menu as herb infused) but mine was just a basic breakfast waffle. The Cuban had all the flavors and textures of most and was enjoyable. I had to bump a star for the gnats in the windowsills and the inaccurate waffle description. Then another for the poorly maintained bathrooms. Missing towels and in desperate need of cleaning. I would definitely return when in the area to see growth and progress as well as to try out different menu items as there are MANY to choose from.

I also tried the soup of the day which is the chicken corn chowder and I highly enjoyed it. It's a very small cafe and not much room to move about so when it's packed it gets pretty noisy. The couple things I want to note are around how long it was to wait for a table and food. We arrived in the area around 1125am and I called to place my name on the wait-list. Upon answering, the hostess informed me you have to place your name on the waitlist in person. No issue, I walked over to do this. Only to find out that the waitlist is monitored by Yelp, which can easily be done online. So that was very frustrating to see at the start. We then were told to wait 15-20 minutes. When we got to the front of the list, they then informed us that we needed to wait an additional 20-30 minutes as the kitchen needed to flip. This was very confusing and a big turn off. Eventually, I spoke with a woman who allowed us to come inside and sit down instead of waiting outside for over an hour. It would have been nice to know at the outset of this whole interaction that breakfast wasn't going to be an option and then it would be an hour before we could order and eat. At the end of the day, we ate our great food and enjoyed being able to dine at this place. I will just look into a few more places on my next visit here.

Wonderful cozy find! Best breakfast-for-dinner ever…read more We stumbled upon this absolute gem on a freezing, rainy evening after an outdoor event, just looking for a warm bite to eat around dinner time. My partner found this spot while searching nearby, and oh how happy I am that he did! I had been craving blueberry pancakes for days and was so excited to have a rare breakfast-for-dinner treat. From the moment we walked in, the warmth of the place completely melted the cold away. We were greeted by a wonderful, incredibly kind waitress, and the atmosphere inside was just so cozy and comforting. There was a lovely mix of people having their supper, including a sweet family of seven eating dinner together at the table next to us. It just had that perfect, welcoming community feel. The menu was seriously impressive. My other half ordered the southern chicken sausage gravy dinner, and it was phenomenal! I got my blueberry pancakes- my absolute favorite - and they completely exceeded expectations. I also tried the lentil soup, which was packed with flavor. Honestly, I don't think you could have a bad meal here if you tried. Our waitress (the same lovely woman who greeted us) chatted with us for a bit and was just so delightful and attentive. I even spotted a rice pudding with strawberries and whipped cream on the dessert menu that looked right up my alley, but between my pancakes and stealing a few delicious bites of the chicken dinner, I was far too full this time around! As we left, I noticed the pretty flowers and the outdoor picnic tables. I'm sure this place absolutely hops on weekend mornings, but it was the perfect rainy evening escape for us. Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality-we are officially adding this to our regular rotation when we are in the area.

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

The current owners since 2017 are husband and wife restaurateurs Ali and Etab Abullattif. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!
