AMAZING brunch! I came here with 3 friends on a Sunday mid-day and the place was packed! They have both indoor and outdoor seating available; luckily we did not have to wait! We ordered the fruit salad and ricotta pancakes to share, along with the Moroccan scramble and steamed mussels. Everything was super fresh and delicious. I had the crop top cocktail which was amazing! The service was fantastic! Kevin was our waiter and he was able to give us recommendations on popular dishes. Total disappointment. We used to go there years ago and food used to be so great. Today I ordered salmon en papillote. It had no flavor except the entire dish was very acidic. I was very hungry so I ate it, there was no one to tell the dish is not good at all. Honestly a little disappointed by my visit here today. I was really excited to try this spot for brunch so I made the trip to give it a try. It opens at 10am. I was the second person in line to order at the coffee window. You then go seat yourself, so it's first come first serve. I ordered a coffee and the ricotta pancakes. Amazing place to go to for Brunch. It was a small cozy spot a few friends and myself enjoyed while on our New York trip. A friend and myself both enjoyed the Ricotta pancakes. My new favorite. While another friend got their avocado toast which she really enjoyed. Also another highlight was their truffle fries. Some of the best I've ever had. Our waitress was amazing. I have been meaning to try Five Leaves for the longest time (perhaps YEARS) and now I have finally fulfilled my goal! I must thank my dearest sister for highly recommending this place. One of my favorite brunch spot in Brooklyn. It is a nice and cozy restaurant that has endless people waiting to snag a seat because you cannot reserve a table in advance . It was filling, but left me wanting more of it. They used chimichanga sauce for the grain bowl--very tasty and delicious! In all, the food was outstanding and definitely the best part. However, the too-close-for-comfort proximity of seating and my lackluster grain bowl left me feeling slightly disappointed. I used to love this place. I came back to visit the first time since COVID-19 hit, and brought my daughter with me. When I asked the server what bread I could get, he told me only sourdough and 7 grain. Later on I found from another waiter that there was also a cranberry pecan option, so I asked if I could switch to the sweet toast and the lady kindly agreed. When my dish came, it looked yummy but the toast wasn't cranberry pecan so I politely asked whether I could still switch. They brought the dish back, and it came back with this burned toast that is cover in black. Though I understand that there were some back and forth and not ideal on a busy Sunday, I don't think this burned bread should have been serve to any customer... I have to say that I was completely surprised and disappointed... the waiter already looked impatient so I didn't ask to have the bread replaced. Standard brunch with a twist. I'm tired of brunch places that serve the usual stuff with small variations, but this is one of the better places and had some standout dishes. First, I have to say the tumeric latte was INCREDIBLE. One of the best breakfast beverages I've ever had. I think they must use fresh tumeric - I've tried replicating it home since it was so good. For dishes, the Moroccan Scramble was definitely the standout. The middle-eastern toppings made this absolutely delicious, without being overpowering. The frittata and hash browns were also well-made, but the Scramble was my favorite. It's on a nice location, right near a subway station. The restaurant is a little small, and it was pretty packed. However, the wait was fair. And there are some stores to check out while waiting. The food quality was good. Friends and I loved the breakfast set and mushroom toast that we ordered. I personally love the mushroom toast. It was well moisturized and served with spinach. It is a good veggiterian breakfast option. We shared the ricotta pancakes. The portion was too much for us for only one person I finish the entire place. I came to Five Leaves for brunch at around 11:30am because I heard the Ricotta Pancakes were good. When we got here, it was really packed and it reminded me of Ruby's Cafe. The wait time to brunch indoors was around 45 minutes to an hour which was very long. However, there was no wait time to brunch outdoors so we opted for that and there was great natural lighting. It was quite cold, but the "cold didn't bother us anyways." There was another group that dined outdoors as well, so we braved the cold together. We ordered the Ricotta Pancakes ($16) which was filled with pancakes with honeycomb butter, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and a small cup of 100% pure maple syrup; and the Big Breakkie ($16) which came with two eggs of any style, hash browns, whole wheat toast, and a choice of two sides such as avocado, fried tomatoes, sautéed kale, sautéed mushrooms, hash browns, grilled chorizo, housemade baked beans, and thick cut bacon. Our food took a while to come. The service wasn't that great here, but the staffs were friendly. I got the Ricotta Pancakes and the pancakes were huge. I could only finish 3/4 of it. The dish was presented very nicely. The fruits that accompanied the dish were fresh. The pancakes, however, was quite a disappointment. The pancakes were dry and even with syrup, it was still dry. The honey comb butter at the top of the pancakes didn't help much. My brother got the Big Breakkie. He chose to have sunny-side up eggs and chose housemade baked beans and grilled chorizo as sides. He said that the plate was pretty good. The eggs were perfect to his liking, the hash browns were crispy, the toast was buttery, grilled chorizo was tasty, and the housemade baked beans were not that bad. It was very filling for him. Overall, I don't think I would wait for a long time just to brunch at this place. The dishes were quite expensive for the taste of it.
